Ohhhh!! SUCH good info! Thank you! I'm a veteran homeschool mom to a senior and two freshmen (freshmans?) lol, but I am SO glad I came across your video (I googled "best homeschool curriculum for visual learners" and this video came up!). I was up the creek without a paddle 1/2 and hour ago. I went to buy the curriculum I had long ago decided upon and realized its not a good fit after all. God must've guided the algorithms because I needed to see your video! I've either done, or heard of, most of these curricula, but I needed to hear your words on the rigor of Apologia Biology and see all the books laid out and flipped through while hearing your daily/weekly approach. And be reminded that IEW is the bomb! Even though I'm a veteran, my twins are so different than my senior, I might as well be a newbie. I'm SO excited to discover Seven Sisters and Guest Hollows! I'll be checking those out right now!

Tip: before you have her apply for outside scholarships, contact the school financial aid office and make sure that those scholarships won't reduce the school financial aid package. Many schools calculate your expected family contribution and then subtract any outside aid from their side of the balance sheet, not yours. For example, if school costs 20k and your expected family contribution is 10k and she gets 5k in outside scholarships, the school will reduce their aid package to cover the remaining 5k. I have not been through this yet, but have read a lot about it!

If not you should camp during that time. Always starts 2nd friday in Oct and goes for 9 days until the next Sunday. Turkey Run or Raccoon lake are closest and best for festival camping. Secret is you have to make reservations 6 months to the day (unless you primitive camp then no issues) as sites are gone in hours for the entire festival week.

Most internet browsers have something up by the address bar where you can bookmark webpages. I use Firefox which has a little star that I select to bookmark a page or video and then it asks which bookmark folder I want to put it in. It also has a place where I can organize my bookmark folders. That varies depending on which browser you use. However if you are using a GH curriculum, their schedules all include live links. When you click on a video title it will take you right to that video. You can copy and paste their links into other documents are just have that schedule pulled up and your kids can click right from it to the videos

Do you delete the activities/books/videos that you are not using from the Guest Hollow schedule in word?

I’m a paper person so I print off a copy of the schedule for myself and then make my notes on what to keep or skip on there. Then I put assignments into my students planners. I have a couple of videos in my lesson planning playlist showing how I enter them into their planners and bookmark videos, etc

Would this be appropriate for a 9th grader? I was thinking of doing government this year with him because it's an election year.

You could definitely use it with a 9th grader. Some of the extra books may be more difficult reads but they make for great conversation.

Hey there! Lovely room. Can I ask what size your cutting mat is on the table? Thanks.

I have the Olfa set of 3 cutting mats. If you put all of them together they are 35"x70". I usually just put two out on the table at a time, so roughly 35"x46"
