As a woman, I would like to request a high mahar for the simple fact that if we ever get divorced, I could use that money or gold to get back on my feet. I think it’s so important for girls to be conscious of the fact that if they chose to be house wives or stay at home moms, they NEED a safety deposit. We don’t know what could happen, your husband could divorce you 20 years in and leave you with nothing. If you have your mahar ( preferably in gold) you can at least count on that. I had women in my family that had to leave an abusive relationship and were only able to do so thanks to their mahar.

In my own experience I need to get married to keep my femininity. Personally tired of working and providing for myself and the family not having a chance to live a slow and feminine life. I still want an education and maybe even a small business but more so to have a plan for an income in case of divorce or my husband returning to Allah. So I guess these are things different for everyone especially when you’re in the west.

It can be hard to be emotionally available daily but when I am, it does help avoid arguments. So thank you for the reminder

I was born and raised back home before moving to the West about six years ago. Even though I’ve been here for a while, I still haven’t fully adapted to the culture. I’m planning to marry someone from back home, but I’ve noticed that one of the biggest challenges for those who do the same is navigating language barriers, cultural differences, role expectations, and, in some cases, the strain of long-distance relationships. Marriage itself is already challenging, and these factors can make it even more complicated. While I completely understand why some choose to marry back home, I also see why it’s difficult to find someone willing to relocate, as many sisters born here are often not open to moving back.

As a lady who is from home i just want to add that both men and women should have discernment, opportunists exist everywhere. Is she marrying you for good reasons or for a passport ? Many women know men from the west run back home to look for women

Asc, Im a somalian who was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia and I married someone in Ethiopia who is somali aswell. So we had a completely different upringing but alx were doing well..currently postpartum with my second baby.

Also, are they marrying you so they can come to the West?

Only reason i was considering this option was cos it'd be easier to move back home if my wife was already stationed there, instead of having to convince/rely on her to keep to her word of moving there with me. Thoughts?

This is so true brother wallahi. My spouse & I are both from same country but he grow up in the west and I grew up in back home. Unfortunately we have completely different culture and expectations SubhanAllah 😂 So, speaking of my experience I will advise anyone to marry someone they grow up in the same country or close country with similar mindset.

What about if it’s your only option? When the times ticking and there’s not much choices isn’t it better to take the risk?

Women raised in the west are often gullible and don’t possess the evilness and cunningness women from back home have. You think you’re escaping feminism by marrying back home but you’re switching it out for a different struggle

Just my 2cents , if you want to marry back home bear in mind feminism still exists back home as everyone has access to the internet.
