Tiny Bougainvillea Bonsai. Wiring and Pruning Bougainvillea Bonsai cascading style. Beginner Bonsai
Instagram: @HerbandRootsGardening
Bougainvillea is an evergreen shrub known for brilliant shows of prolific blooms.
There are varieties with red, pink, orange, yellow, white bracts. The flowers appear in the middle of the bracts or leaves that have changed color. Bougainvillea leaves are oval and are positioned in an alternate pattern. The bark is beige-grey and with age it gets more texture and character.
The species is native to South America. Bougainvilleas are fast growing, tolerate pruning very well and are well suited for most bonsai styles. As they are subtropical plants, they can't endure frost and need temperatures around 50° F - 59° F / 10° C - 15° C in winter.

When plants are grown indoors or in other low light situations, they become elognated. This is called etioliation. This is elongation of the stem as the plant stretches upward to catch more light. The simple solution is to move the plant to brighter light like a southern exposure or higher intensity artificial lights. But this still leaves that leggy party. Fortunately, leggy succulent plants c...

If you’re still growing out jades and you haven’t discovered larger pots you will get faster growth in a larger pot. I’ve been growing 5 to 10’ jades but I only down size the pot when I’m satisfied with max growth.

Grow it out bro. Put it in the open ground preferably in good soil full sun and let it grow out there largely untouched another ten years or so, before even thinking about starting the refinement stage. And in that time, learn learn learn. )) Then another 5-10 years you might have a bonsai, a nice one too. Leave it an a tiny pot and keep fidlling with it and 100 years later itd still be a twig in a pot. I knowit can be hard starting out but, discipline yourself brother and youll be reewarded. )) Id recommend getting a more advanced or "finished" looking bonsai or two (or more idk) if you can afford it, to look at and fiddle with and show off and all that. Then as you orogress and learn you wont be so tempted to mess with and hack up all your tress that are still in the development stage (as opposed to refinement stage. ) Which will be the vast majority of your plants. Maybe some more advanced nursery junipers or aomething too that are closer to refinement atage and can get practise on and get something that looks like a bonsai quick. Or practice wiring and stuff with branches that have been cut off a larger reee. Anyway just my two cents. Good luck bro. I bet youll like and be real good at it if atick wit it....i can tell. :)

Bromeliads only use roots for anchoring themselves to other structures. All the moisture is absorbed through the center cup structure. You have to keep water in it at all times. Can't let it remain dry, even if it's in moist soil. It's nice to mount them on wood or bark to make attractive wall decor. Great video

I didn't even know what Bromeliads were til a few days ago! haha! I saw them in a grocery store and got one. After researching them, I wnet back for more and found one just like the one you have here, though it's not dying back at all yet. BUT- it already had a flowering pup on it! So I got a free plant with that one! I separated it and potted it up. It's doing well! I did have to prune off damaged leaves because grocery stores never take care of their plants. It doesn't seem to have stress the plants at all, which I was worried about. I love this video and will subscribe. I know I'm 4 years late seeing this...haha!
