Thanks for checking out my Gardenia Bonsai!! A native of China, Taiwan and Japan, the Gardenia is a semi-tropical plant that is only suitable for U.S. Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 8 to 11. Gardenia Bonsai will need to be brought indoors each fall before temperatures drop below freezing.
    Watering:
Keep the soil evenly moist but never soggy. Water until the soil looks and feels moist. Never allow the soil to dry out completely, but if it does, immerse the entire pot in water for five minutes or until the soil is thoroughly wet. Do not over-water your Gardenia Bonsai. Dropping of buds on Gardenia Bonsai can occur with over-watering or dry conditions.
    Pruning:
In early spring after it is done flowering cut back long, unbranched growth to keep your plant bushy. Make the pruning cut just above a leaf joint. Throughout the growing season, pinch out the ends of some of the branches to produce a fuller plant.
    Fertilizing:
Apply an acid-type fertilizer like an Azalea fertilizer at half strength once a month from spring to fall. If new leaves are yellow with green veins, apply an iron chelate fertilizer.
Gardenia can be toxic to animals if it is ingested. The stems, leaves, and flower of the gardenia plant contain toxins that can cause mild to severe gastrointestinal upset in cats. They are all poisonous to dogs although some are more toxic than others.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, I have 2 cuttings but they aren't big enough for me to start pruning and wiring them yet. Please can you let us know when you're going to show us how these ones are coming along? I'd love to see them now, or soon?!

What kind of soil do you used? I make the mistake of buying a bonsai from Home Depot and the plant is struggling, I’m trying my best to save it but the leaves are turning yellow.

When you wire a branch you must leave a bigger gap between each turn of wire, please go watch and expert at work.
