ASC-T-128 - UNT Highland Street Garage - Denton, TX
Here is an ASC T-128 recorded on February 13, 2019. This siren is located next to the UNT Highland Street Garage near Maple St. and Central Ave. This is one of three T-128 sirens located on the UNT main campus. These T-128s replaced a system of Siratone equipped Federal Signal EOWS 612 sirens back in 2002.
This was a pretty neat recording as I was able to film this siren at eye level from the 3rd floor of the parking garage. I was curious how loud this siren would be on axis with the horn from about 170ft away. So I found a free sound pressure level measuring app and downloaded it to my phone to get an idea of how loud this siren was.

Here is an ASC T-128 which was recorded back on September 2, 2019. This siren had malfunctioned during its 3 minute test which resulted in the chopper motor shutting off about 8 seconds into the test. This siren continued to rotate for the remainder of the test. Here is one of the two newest sirens installed in Lewisville, TX. This siren is located on F.M. 3040 and Railroad St. This siren was installed around March 2016 and was quite loud. During the test I noticed that at the point in oscillation where it switches directions, there was a significant delay in motion. I'm not quite sure what is causing that.

Here is one of the 4008s in Plano, TX sounding the wail signal and performing a voice test. This particular siren is located at Fire Station #8 off of Hedgcoxe Rd. This is supposedly one of the 4008s scheduled to be replaced by a 2910 next year. This siren still operated perfectly and with the exception of crackly drivers at the beginning of the test, showed no signs of wear.

Here is one of the six Whelen 4008s in McKinney, TX sounding the Best Possible Protection tone. This is definitely the loudest electronic siren I have ever heard in person. The echos heard as it rotated away from the camera were amazing.

Here is one of the few remaining active ACA P-50s in the DFW Metroplex. I met up with WhammyP-50 who also recorded this siren. This unit is located by a Big Lots on N Hampton Rd. in DeSoto, TX. This siren sounds the attack signal and was very loud in person.

Here is one of the 10 remaining Whelen 4008s in Plano. This unit is located at Windhaven Park right by Plano West High School and Renner Middle School. This siren sounds the wail signal as well as a voice test. The remaining Whelen 4008s are all scheduled to be replaced by 2018. This is one of the units scheduled to be replaced next year (siren #10 in the system).

Here is a recently installed Federal Signal 508 siren at Griffin Middle School in The Colony, TX which replaced an ACA P-50. For some unknown reason, this siren did not rotate for the test.
