I have a video of this siren for the May 2016 test. The rotator has been fixed/replaced. It is now rotating the full 360 degrees for the voice portion.
That's weird because I pass by this siren at least once a month, and when test day is over, I usually see it in a different position. I wonder if the rotator is again broken. If Plano should replace any siren it should be this one.
shodowhater 2910s actually have newer sound controllers with different sounding tones. Lived by a 3016 before it got replaced by a 2910, with the current Whelen controller, and the deeper tone freaked me out whenever sounded off. Whole county has them, the ambience is creepy.
Sparky Junior Wail on the newer controllers sound about the same. They actually have a smoother wind down than this one. They don't skip like these. I think these WPS-4008 siren arrays will out preform the 2910s in range.
DJ2226 The older Whelen's in my county could be heard farther than the 2910's we have now. Several already succumbed to cold weather again (ice in the speaker arrays and drivers).
Nope 2910s even 2810s are replaced with 2910s. And in one case a siren was removed and they never put a new one there. Instead they moved it 1/2 mile down the road.
They replaced 2810s with 2910s? That is one way to waste money... They are almost the same siren. The only difference between the two is that the 2900 series arrays have side access panels for the drives, where as the 2800 series have to be taken apart to get to them. They are equally rated at 126 or 129 dB depending on the controller's pitch in alert. The 4008 blows them away up close and in the distance.
I miss these. All are gone now. 2910s and 2810s replaced everything.
Great video TboltTX1 you video the Whelen 4008 in Plano TX that's good show the wail tone :D
Yeah siren #5 has been replaced. Where is siren #5 at exactly?
