- Here is an ASC T-128 recorded on February 13, 2019. This siren is located next to the UNT Highland Street Garage near Maple St. and Central Ave. This is one of three T-128 sirens located on the UNT main campus. These T-128s replaced a system of Siratone equipped Federal Signal EOWS 612 sirens back in 2002.
This was a pretty neat recording as I was able to film this siren at eye level from the 3rd floor of the parking garage. I was curious how loud this siren would be on axis with the horn from about 170ft away. So I found a free sound pressure level measuring app and downloaded it to my phone to get an idea of how loud this siren was.
Overall, these measurements seem reasonable given the recording conditions. However, I wouldn't draw any definitive conclusions until proper measuring equipment is used.
I missed part of a growl test at the beginning of the video. This is the sound these sirens make when the City of Denton conducts a polling of the system to check for proper functionality prior to the full 3 minute test. Sometimes the sirens will growl more than once before the full test begins.
Glad to see you've returned.
I saw a picture and saw a p-50. There are no p-50s in Denton right?
That is correct
Nice video
I have a question about your houston thunderbolt T-447. Where was it located before removal? Like what road, address and/or cords?
My Thunderbolt was previously installed at Houston Fire Station 31 on Crosstimbers near Yale St. It can be seen in the historical Google street view imagery before it was removed in 2009.
@@TboltTX1 wow thank you for the info! It makes me wonder what the serial is for the one I'm Cimarron
I want to meet you sometime.
