Fulltime Vanlife in Hornsby: Bobbin Head and Crosslands Park
Drove down to Apple Tree Bay Boat Ramp for breakfast and a short look around, before heading back over to Bobbin Head for a longer walk. Started at the Mangrove Boardwalk, headed over to the Rainforest walk and wandered up the creek to find an interesting little waterfall. Not a very lush rainforest area but some interesting features.
Continuing the slow day with lunch back over at Apple Tree Bay before a short walk up the trail behind Empire Marina. Later headed back up to Hornsby for the evening.
Next day I decided to have a look at Crosslands Park. The bird life was the highlight of this area, with Bush Turkeys, various Ducks, Lyrebirds, Kookaburras, all of which were relatively unfazed ...

Starting off the day with a mountain bike ride through some trails in Cherrybrook, not far from Hornsby in Sydney's north (New South Wales, Australia). I saw something marked as the Natural Arch on Google Maps and figured it might be interesting to go and have a look. After a bit of searching and not correctly following the map, I did stumble across a very interesting sandstone rock feature. Th...

Hi Jason, have you ever been to Walka Water Works at Oakhampton in Maitland. It used to be a premier tourist spot in Maitland but sadly has suffered some neglect in recent years and part of it has been closed since asbestos was discovered there 2 years ago. In my view it would still be worth a visit to kill a few hours. There is also a major Wetlands tourist centre at Shortland just 30 minutes from Maitland as well.

Always a tad eerie when birds suddenly go crazy for no apparent reason...it's like, "what do they know!" Haha. Bobin Creek boat area has grown ie more boats, always been a lot of $$$ docked there. The water still looks amazing colour, if 'fragrant'. Still looks a pretty area. That grass land area was interesting and different scenery. 900 year lifespan for Grass Trees wow! I live up on a hill; and some kilometres down the hill from me is a sewerage treatment plant near one of the beaches. Been living here for years and haven't really smelt anything untoward - however there is a dune walk that runs a long the beach near the treatment plant where occasionally you can get a waft of the smell that you're talking about. The run off goes into the sea and causes foam like those I can see in the video drifting down the pond/stream. However being the ocean we also get a natural byproduct of an algae bloom, as well, where it produces a lot of foam and a rather different pungent smell. Ahh the joys the being out there 🙂 Thanks for the video. That natural arch was quite a find, indeed! Good to see you getting out there amongst it.

Thanks Tony. The weird smell is an interesting one. I guess with the ocean outfalls, there is better dilution of the effluent but very interesting that you can smell it too.

Sounds like that microphone muffler for the GoPro is working well in the wind at Hornsby!

Yeah, I think it helps a lot! The winds noise before was really annoying.

Thank you so much for all the beautiful closeups of the rocks, the water, the moss, and the grass trees LOL 😂 I would really love to be there, but I’m a bit mobility challenged atm 😂 I’ve just photographed all the tree trunks in my local park 😂😂

😊 I'm more than happy to do all the hard walking for you! My next video has a close up of a tree that looks like a Casuarina, but with really interesting bark I've never seen before. You'll have to let me know if you've seen it before 😁

Another beautiful area, it’s really awful all those chemicals go into the stream water, really frustrating, thanks for showing us around 😊

My pleasure! I guess it's inevitable with the size of our population, but yeah, it's an unpleasant reminder of the impact we all have. I try to buy scent free products where I can, but after learning this.....🙄

😂 certainly seems to be the case! Kind of made worse by living in a small space and not wanting to buy more stuff until the previous thing has vacated its space in the cupboard 😂
