Nice one mate looks great been thinking of making a spirit from parsnips have you ever heard of that being attempted?
Just did a 28 litre recipe of this and added 90g of yeast. I think you under pitched. Great content btw😊
From my experience growing mushrooms I'd say the pink is a different strain of yeast that's contaminated the batch, which is likely the cause of the decreased performance.
i learned how to clean vodka nicely using chill filtration at home which removes most of the bad stuff that made it through, it is night n day difference in smell and taste
не совсем правильно но тоже хорошо, ruclips.net/video/-Mgv9W40AZY/видео.html
Being in the U.K. we can’t rely on the weather for good grapes but we have an abundance of nettles on our farm. I am definately going to give your recipe a go. Thank you!
My friend, i love experimenting with wines i make and distilling also. Try putting some away in a jar with a few french white oak chips say for 3 months. Taste it then, you will have a golden mellower flavour! Cheers!
VG
Superb process of wine
no need to steep for such a small run, and so much botanicals.
way too much botanicals
Dehydrated banana chips soaked then strained.
love your setup, im just using a air still pro, but would love bubble plates, just started using sodium carbonate as well, only 1 run in so far but another planned tomorrow.
There shouldn't be any four shots in a sugar wash there's no pectin if there's any I wouldn't be worth worrying about
Hahaha the cuts layout; this is how you draw genitals on RUclips kids!! Great video but, very informative.
That glass you were dumping your four shots in I thought I was the only one that had one I've had it for years It's very old I've got a few different kinds of them they are great old measuring cups
Hey, you forgot a step after fermentaton... (your room was mid 20 degrees) rack COLD CRASH clarify (wont you have sugar & yeast in the distiler now)
👍🏻👌🏻
Adendum to primary fermentation: yeast definately prefers a slightly acid environment to do its best work so DO NOT ADD CARBONATES (FAIRLY INTENSE BASE OPPOSITE OF ACID) to PRIMARY FERMENTATION WASH....bear
Try making a distillation from cow feed. The stuff with molasses in it.
How does it stay 40% when it's got sugar . Doesn't it turn it into more of a liquor
I enjoyed the video thanks
I added you because we need more channels that aren’t fermenting Oreos 😂 Dig intended
One of the things it does is break down esters. Esters are chemically a carboxilic acid, chemically bound to an alcohol, be that ethanol, methanol, etc. By making it basic, it can break those esters apart.
Great idea mate. So glad I saw this. I’m now a subscriber
2 ounces of ginger mead makes my wear and tear arthritis feel good!
I recently installed 6 kw solar inverter with 4 batteries and ten 580w solar panels in my home .I faced same problem so I have put water air cooler in front of the inverter .now it's working well .in july nowadays the temperature here in Pakistan is 46°c to 48°c sometimes it goes upto 50°c.alhamdulillah(prase be to Allah).....

Did you run either of the products through Activated Carbon?
Do you think it would work equally as well if the fan was extracting hot air from the top of the inverter and therefore pulling cooler air from below ? I believe my inverter has been installed very close to a ceiling and therefore there is heat build up above. So I will install fans above to direct hot air away. Does this make sense . ? Good video btw !
I wonder how that would effect the outcome of a gun run ..?? What effects would it have on the pick up of esters and oils ..🤔?.....would enhance or retard them or just do nothing ??🤔
Youre suppose to memic Final Court down not mission impossible

Ues spiral plasmatic packing (spp)
Am pleased to report that my nettle wash worked well.
Now try blowing bubbles.
The sodium carbonate problem still intrigues me. If you search for: How to cleanly separate Ethanol from Vodka using no lab equipment and ordinary baking soda. You will probably find an answer.
try dry nettles which gives you a black liquid.
Did you use to tap water or bottle to make your wash I’ve looked on line and have never really got a good answer to if you can use tap with turbo yeast
Why not just make your own sodium carbonate? You can just heat baking soda in a pan for about 20 minutes. All you are doing is knocking off one of the carbonates. Then you know for a fact that it is food grade.
Game over
I gave youtube a shot, but I’m not as good as all the others 🫤. Thanks for your support though 😊
@@highly-spirited I thought you were much better than all the others tbh
I cant work out which way your fan is facing. Does it blow air straight up through the inverter grill? I have just got a fan and have put it directly underneath and it blows air up the wall through the grill. Preparing for proper hat days
It’s definitely blowing up through the fins. And I have to say it’s working ever so well, and is making a difference on days with a higher than normal temperature.
@@highly-spirited I've been doing this the last few weeks and it has been working really well. Thanks for the reply
Can I mix sodium carbonate with my drinking water
Do you see any problem trying this in an air still?
I've been enjoying your videos - thank you for posting. I'm late to the party here, but the packed section should go between your plates and your dephleg. For the packed section to "reflux" and increase ABV, it needs a condenser above it to send condensate back down the column. You're getting bugger all reflux the way you have it. You will find you'll lose flavour if you use a packed section when running a "brown" wash/mash (eg: rum, whisky, etc.). If you want to maintain flavour do away with the packed section and just run plates. I gotta say, I just don't get plated columns for the home distiller (they look cool tho!). The same effect can be had using a packed column and varying the amount/height of packing in the column and varying how much condensate the reflux condenser sends back down. A more economical method. Cheers from Australia.
you should try the same thing but with tpw, tffv, and a weetbix wash
Using your method of incorporating the Soda Crystals into a second distillation, I'm having some good results with the following method. Keep up the great work mate. Classic 8 Turbo Yeast. 8 Kilo's of sugar. 20 Litres of water at 30 degrees Celsius. Method:- Sterilise all brewing equipment. Add 20 litres of water at 30 C to a 25 Litre (5 Gallon) brewing bucket. Add 8 kilo's of granulated sugar and stir until dissolved. Add HALF of the Classic 8 Turbo yeast packet - this will ferment out to 20% ABV after two weeks. If you want the wash to ferment out in a shorter time, add all of the yeast packet. There is no need to use the “Carbon”. LOOSLY sit the lid on the brewing bucket. Keep at around 25C for the fermentation period (I use a fish tank heater). Once Fermentation Has Finished. There is no need to use finings, nor is there a need to leave it to clear on it's own. The wash can be distilled as soon as fermentation has stopped. Just make sure to degas it well. Stripping Run Using a 6L, 900w, Water Distiller together with a voltage regulator, add 6L of the wash to the distiller. Connect the power lead to the water distiller, via the voltage regulator. Run at full power for 20 minutes, with the distiller cap OFF Once the wash has warmed through, place the distiller cap on, connect it via a direct power cable to an electrical outlet, and switch on (This allows the fan to run at full speed. Connecting it to the power socket on the distiller, will mean that when the voltage regulator is turned down, the fan will also run slower). Set a jug, or similar, under the outlet spout, and collect the first 60ml. This can be used for cleaning, or adding to the screen wash on your car. After the first 60ml has been collected, place your “Proofing Parrot” under the outlet, turn the voltage regulator down to around the point where the distillate, coming out of the parrot, is a steady drip, and collect the distillate until the hydrometer is reading 20%ABV. Switch off the power to the distiller BUT, LEAVE THE FAN RUNNING FOR A FURTHER 10 MINUTES. Store the distillate in another brewing bucket or demijohn and, run another stripping run. The Spirit Run Measure the product from the first two stripping runs (both volume and ABV) and, using the link below (or similar) temper the product down to less than 40%ABV www.distilling-spirits.com/tools/calculations/diluting-alcohol/ Add 6 litres of the distillate, to the water distiller, AND, ADD 3 LEVEL TEASPOONS (half a level teaspoon per Litre) of Washing Soda crystals. Run the still, with the lid/Condenser/cap OFF, at full power for the first 20 minutes then, replace the lid/condenser/cap, reduce the power to the same point as the stripping run, where the distillate was coming out as a drip. And leave it to go. THERE IS NO NEAD TO COLLECT THE FIRST 60ML OF THIS RUN. Collect everything down to about 30%ABV. Measure the quantity and %ABV, of the distillate collected and, again using the calculator on the web link, proof down to your desired %ABV and add the flavourings of your choice. Using this method, of double distillation, is allowing me to make just over 10 x 750ml bottles of 40% ABV distillate, from a 25 Litre wash. ALTERNATIVELY! A THIRD Distillation Again, using the calculator, refill the distiller with your desired volume of 40%ABV distillate and ADD some botanicals (your preference/choice - I used two eating apples and a half a handful of Juniper berries. Which gave me a Gin, with a hint of apple), DIRECTLY into the distillate. Run as per the Spirit Run.
Thank you both for these replies, I am new to this hobby and have started out with a 4 liter ZenVolt water distiller with a 0 to 108 *C temperature controller. Therefore Nigel Cox solution does seem to fit my set up almost perfectly. If anyone has suggestions on adjusting the temperature It would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you sir Question is it safe will be a methanol on fermentation?
You’ve gone quiet on the videos. Hope your ok pal
Hey there buddy. A few reasons for my lack of videos is that I don’t seem to have the time to make them right now, but the bigger, more glaringly obvious reason is that my vids are utter rubbish. I had some fun making them and I’m still not sure if I’ll ever make any more. But I do continue to potter along with my attempts at more disastrous drink flavours. Thanks for the message and Keep Shining 😎
