Hi Jim- I learned so much on this trip- I hadn't heard of these huge instruments or this observatory before- we were thinking we could maybe figure out the sundial, lol!! I would have no idea how to read the other instruments. It's super impressive that they were made with marble and have survived so well even being outside in the weather. You're awesome to watch these travel videos, big thanks!! Jen

Hi Mike- sure was amazing to see first hand where the Everest Expeditions set up their Camp 1- wouldn't that be exciting to see all those tents and see their preparations! I've seen it in documentaries and read about it. I could see myself helping out as a support person at Base Camp, but not trying to ascend!! You'd love the helicopter, that was super fun!! Hi Dave and Sue! Exciting that you made it to Spain! We visited there once and loved it, I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time! I had heard so much about the Khumbu Glacier too- isn't it amazing! The Khumbu Icefall is quite famous in Everest Expedition stories. (We watched a couple documentaries at one of the Tea Houses and I read two Expedition books on the flight home and as I was adjusting back to Pacific Time Zone at home.) This part of the trek was thrilling, being above tree line and seeing the tip top of Everest and the neighboring mountain peaks. I'm so thankful we had sunshine and the photos and video came out well. Thanks guys- Cheers!! Jen :)

Big thanks Gerry! Before I left home I wasn't sure that I would make it all the way to EBC, though I knew I would give it my best. O yes, Hari as our guide made all the difference. He's very experienced, supportive and friendly. I thought I was going on by myself, but I really wasn't. It was so great to have both Hari and Maitaram with me on the last leg of the trek. We took plenty of time up at Base Camp to look around and reflect on the incredible beauty. They took lots of great photos in just the right places and made the trip fun. I would have enjoyed the trek by foot back to Lukla, but it was also super fun to zip down by helicopter- the views were fantastic! Thanks so much for your friendship!! :) Jen

Thanks so much Gerry! It was difficult that my friends couldn't go on, but they encouraged me to continue which was very nice of them. Hari figured out all the details and it all worked out for the best in the end. As we climbed higher I loved being above tree line and see these awe-inspiring mountain peaks. We had almost perfect weather, which you know can change in a moment up in the high elevations. Glaciers sure are amazing- I read that the Khumbu is the highest one in the world, which seems obvious... it's elevation is 4,900 M (16,000') at the terminus and 7,600 M (24,900') at its source.
