That 1/16th of an inch is the difference between someone doing it and someone doing it right - and you care about doing it right!👍😉
Im here to find out how to get more leg and head. (The title was clipped off in the short description)
🤣😂. That's funny. If I had the answer to that I'd be a wealthy man😎👍
Did a similar setup for a '58 Pontiac this summer. A similar setup electrically (an ancient Delphi reversible motor with a 3 solenoid transmission) but with a different approach to the tracks altogether. It took a little time to figure out, but now it's all working. It does use quite a bit of current though. I used 10 gauge wire and a 30A circuit breaker because these little motors with 2-3 people on board are a little power hungry. Great video!
I’m sorry if something happened between you and UTG. You two were really cool together on video.
👍👍🙂🇨🇦
Cheers mate!
Thats gonna be a hi dollar musting Kiwi ,, Looking good though
Yeah it is!!😎👍
Nice work mate, watching you do this is a reminder of why I have full frame cars; I can bolt them together but there’s no way I could do what you’re doing with a welder.
Thanks man and thanks for watching!!
Noice measures, lots of patience. Who's Bob ?
That's my question!! 😁😎👍
Master craftsman at work, and a super nice guy as well!!!! Thanks for the great videos!!!!!
Thanks for the kind words bud!!
Great work as always 😎👍
Thanks man and thanks for watching!!
Many hours of labor on that! Yes, I would bolt those side apron sections in also. Got to have access for service and instalation. Great job!
Thanks man and thanks for watching!!
What a luxury being able to do this sort of work on cars without having to prove yourself time and time again to the appointed know it alls .
It really is!! It would be hard to come back to NZ now and operate under those conditions....
It really is!! It would be hard to come back to NZ now and operate under those conditions....
Just learning to weld, looks like I have the same welder, curious of your settings and gas pressure
I'm using an Eastwood 175 set on D and 3.5 wire speed. 10 liters per minute flow. That wire speed might be a bit slow for learning with but try not go beyond 4.5 Experiment with wire speed and amps, if a setting is not working for you adjust either way until it feels better for you.
@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 thanks
What's the 6' circular hoop over by the wall for? It looks like part of a UFO project you're working on...
LOL, no it's a rotisserie made by Rolla Hoop. Check them out here. www.rollerhoop.com it's an awesome bit of kit!!! So much better than the traditional rotisseries.
Chris, I admire the fact that you show the entire process instead of glossing over the details like so many others do. Thank you for that.
Thanks man, it's a balance between being informative and being boring😁....😎👍
It's really coming together nicely your dead right about taking the time to get parts fitting just spot on
Thanks man and thanks for watching!!
10:57 made me smile. I worked with a fellow known as "Bondo Bob." Some say he could have been a sculptor, but for the fates and fickle fortunes.
Yeah I could've been a movie star if it weren't for that fate and fickle fortune....🤪🤣😂
👌💯 🪶🥝⭐ Rooly Choice Kiwi.
Geez cobber what are ya tryin to say 😜😂🤣
Would it be prudent to make up a jig for this? Especially if you do this occasionally?
It could be yes !
Swiss cheese 🧀 has fewer openings.🤣 But you are making great progress. Will look fantastic when complete ✅
Cheers mate, getting there!!😎👍
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 impressive how you start with virtually nothing and what you end up with. I have not forgotten that fastback mustang I just have not been in that area. In the last year
@CAROLDDISCOVER-2025 cool, let me know😁
@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 👍
Hey Kiwi, are you doing the final paint on this? Project looks great. Coming right along.
No, not painting it 😁
It’s gone from Swiss cheese, to cheeseburger with THE LOT (no, I don’t know where the burger part fits in, but 🤷♂️)
She Fillet Mignon before long!! 😜😎👍
You said squared and in the right place, but you never showed an x check of the hood opening.
With the new chassis and core support installed exactly square the rest falls into place 😎👍
Are the rings behind you for rolling a body upside down?
Yes! It's called a Rolla-Hoop. American made and it works extremely well!! 😁😎👍
instagram.com/p/mqVkxon2D4/?igsh=cWhmcjJnaGlrbW9p
I like to bolt the fender on before welding. Then x check the hood opening
With the new chassis and core support in square it's gonna be square 👍😎😁
A lot of shops have computerized measuring systems nowadays. I wonder if you could find a used set of self centering datum gauges to ensure your rail replacement were true. If your foundation is correct, as you say, you know you are on the right track. Keep up the good work.
This old dog is is happy with his tape measure and his eyecrometer😁 It would make it easier though...🤔
Mabey i commented to soon and you are on top of it hope it all goes well😅😅
I've done a few now so I'm fairly confident it'll be good !!😁😎👍
@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 keep plodding on mate
@garrypritchard1658 I was plodding a bit on Saturday. This six days a week stuff wears on you....
@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 yes mate take it easy get out and enjoy life
The factory used jigs your makeing it hard for yourself i would measure everything up tek screw all the inner panels in place (put a tack weld where you cant get a screw) and brace it all soid then hang the gards and hood plus front panel to be sure everything lines up with the correct gaps takes a long time but its worth it 😊😊😊😊😊
Pretty close is good enough 😂😂😂
SHINE BRIGHT KIWI!!💥💪 AUSTRALIA!!!🤍💙❤️💥👊
Cheers mate!!
Keep youe eyes scaned on the lookout for Trumps stormtroopers i hope you get time to fiinish it i could not live in a country with that fknnn idiot in power😢😢😢😢i hope your not on the list i love watching your vids you do a great job must be alot of measuring wihout a table jig hats of to you ( i can't get you to swap camp's go (gm) but somebody got to like fords😂😂😂😂 we have just moved to Brisbane to be close to my son and g.kids i guess i will be a cockroach know😢😢😢😢
Respectfully, I disagree with "if you're foundation is a quarter inch off, then the whole house is a quarter inch off" - only because those measurements at the base have a funny way of becoming bigger issues as you build up from there.
That's true, it can multiply out further for sure but seldom gets better.....
Great video 👍!!! I learned a ton. One huge problem though, I can still see a little bit of the original car. You gotta do something about that. 😅
🤣😂 it's a bit like that😁😎👍
With a jigsaw puzzle the pieces can only fit one way... What you're doing Kiwi is taking pieces that could fit anyway you want. The real skill is making them fit the right way! Good eye Kiwi!😎
Thanks Glen !!
Do you need to have the structural work signed off by an engineer? As they do here in Australia .
No mate ya don't ! That's not really a good thing either. Some pretty awful work driving around out there ....
It's nice having another car for reference. I bought a second 69 Dart when I restored mine. It was all rusted and I only gave $250 for it. Got some interior parts and a good instrument cluster from it, added bonus. When you go on time lapse....I call that "Kiwi's playhouse mode". 😂
It sure is !! 😁😎👍
beautifull,thanks Kiwi!!
Thank you for watching!!! 😁😎👍
The Ship of Theseus is starting to take shape! 😁 Those must be pretty high quality replacement panels...in the aircooled VW world all I hear is how poorly most replacement panels fit these days...
They did fit pretty well ! Cheers Chris !!
This brings me back a few years when I installed a Mustang 2 front end in my 68 coupe. I ended up building a set of aluminum inner fenders which I was quite pleased with actually. I really enjoy your videos Kiwi.
Awesome, thanks for watching!!
If someone could invent some clamps that are self adjusting and easy to release with one hand. They could make a fortune. Cause anyone who does any kind of metal work knows just how frustrating it is to get those Vise-Grip type clamps to cooperate. Especially when you're trying to adjust and line up panels. They're always either too loose to hold, or too tight to release. It can drive you mad. Luckily I'm already mad, so...😂. Anyway, love watching the master at work. I don't have the means or facility to do much fabrication. But I enjoy being able to at least see it being done. Thanks for sharing Kiwi
I'd buy a set clamps like that!!! It'd help hang on to those last shreds of sanity🤪. Thanks for watching !!
Who's Bob???? Why, Bob's your Uncle! And Fanny's your Aunt. LOL Lot of fiddley bits there. Do you not do any diagonal measuring? Just to insure squareness? You've done one, you've done twice as many as I have. So, I'm sure you will get it right. Yeah, good to see Kevin again.
A notorious pair Bob and Fanny ! With that new chassis and core support it really couldn't be anything but square but typically yes, diagonal measure 😉. Cheers mate😎👍
Those 16ths are the difference between amazing work and ok work.
Thanks man!!
👍👍
Thanks man and thanks for watching !!
👍🏼⛽️
Nick, I'm hoping that one day I'll put out an interesting enough video to get a whole paragraph for a comment from you !! 😜😜😂👍👍
Kiwi, I'm suprised the company that made the core support, didnt put at least one verticle bead roll on each side, to stiffen it up.
I thought that too, the radiator mounts will stiffen it up some though 😎👍
Nice work Chris
Thanks man and thanks for watching!!
Those 10 bolts can be welded in to the panel this way you can remove the nuts whenever you remove the wheel. Im sure kiwi knows
Gulfy, that's a really good idea bud!! I hadn't thought of that....!!! Thanks👍👍😎
@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160 maybe put some kind of gasket between the plate so it doesn't rattle or scuff the paint work.. perhaps 2 way tape but don't remove it in 1 end .. glad to help.
5:20 If, you cant get here on time, get here when you can.😄 I'm sure, he was there precisely, when he meant to be.
He was, I was just giving him shit!😂😎👍
@@kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160😂
I like those torque boxes you've installed Massive structural improvement Over stock OEM What kind of weldable primer Are you using ? I like your Pneumatic hole puncher
The torque boxes are the single biggest improvement you can make on an early mustang!! It's a zinc one, I'll have to check on the brand. Hole punch is off EBay go for one with the 5/16 punch, the cheap ones are usually only 1/4. Big difference !!
I forgot to thank you for adding kev!!!!❤
Kev shirts should be available next week😁😎👍
@@stevesadusky8634 kev came in and disappeared LoL.
