    Cool conversion!
I made a cap for the power steering reservoir that I used to quiet power steering pumps that had air in them. I would fill the reservoir with power steering fluid and start it and check it immediately for level and would of course top it off if needed. I would shut it off and put my modified cap on the reservoir which I had epoxied a fitting that I could affix a hose to it and to either a vacuum pump like for AC systems or to a vacuum port on the/a engine and put vacuum to it to evacuate the air bubbles. Never failed to stop a “whining” pump on any vehicle that I worked on.
I’m assuming that Marge’s steering shaft doesn’t have a master spline as had it had one that would have presented issues and added an additional step in alignment of the steering wheel.
    Thanks for keeping us updated!
Now to figure out how to convert my 1964 F100 to power steering 🤔.

Yes, sir that is a good tutorial and of course there is no such thing as perfection with any of these kits, but this setup seems to have the novice mechanic/installer in mind. Having someone such as yourself to give the video instruction with the way you, present things is most satisfying. The fact that you followed the instruction implicitly shows others that it is wise to pay attention to the instructions and get on the same mindset as the outfit that is presenting those instructions. Patience is always the virtue here and paying attention to detail will result in a better job. I would submit that once the front end is squared away and the alignment is done by a competent alignment tech (one who knows how to center a steering wheel) the steering wheel could be reinstalled to the center position and the factory alignment mark could be changed unless it is spot on. On these vehicles that have multiple splines there is of course factory marks as to where the steering wheel should be installed, but many so-called front-end experts just relocate the wheel and of course the steering box is not centered. Back when I was younger when you took an automobile to the alignment shop the first thing that the technician would verify is if the steering wheel has ever been off. Of course, a real concerning technician would remove the horn button to expose the steering wheel to ensure that it is correct. There is nothing worse than driving down the road and trying to keep the wheel straight and the car constantly veering off one way or the other. I have seen by some comments that there are some people who may be less than satisfied that the coupling is pinned by a roll pin, but on a International 96/70 cabover that I had the steering shaft that connected the universal joint to the steering box had a yoke that was welded on by the factory (ask me how I know). So if one of the viewers is not completely comfortable with that method the universal joint could be welded to the shaft after all of the adjustments have been made (if that will make one happy). Overall a thumbs up on this installation.🥸👍👍👍👍👍👍

Can't believe how far you've drifted from your Kiwi roots already! Imagine taking Marge in for a WOF inspection back home (or an MOT here in the UK) with those chuffing great holes in the floor, yet you're more concerned about central locking and power steering! It's VERY American! So long as the motor runs and you have some sort of brake pedal, everything else is optional!
Dunno about the WOF, that crack in the screen would earn you a fail on a UK MOT, never mind the rot and all the other bits that mostly don't work!

    • @kiwiclassicsandcustoms9160

Well yeah I guess there's some truth to what you say. If I had to have a wof I'd have changed up the order of jobs to do. Floors are next though. I've got a new windshield and I'm trying to locate a decent seal as nobody makes them anymore. Everything does work now though and she had good brakes before we left SanDiego 😁

When we ordered our 77 nova I thought why waste money on power steering? around 40 years later I decided to update to PS, parts are much more plentiful for the later model GM product but I was having problems finding a pump mount without AC, I did find one in a junk yard on a Chevy 1 ton truck with hydroboost brakes. I removed the pump, bracket and pullys. Installed it looks a bit different as the pump has an extra return line port which I plugged.. with a NAPA steering box and a pitman arm (from another junk yard) ((and another story)) It works great and a worthwhile upgrade.
