Hopefully more function updates are coming for connected EV6. It's sad to have waited so many months past due for these handful of 'meh updates.

Until I can adjust my arrival state of charge at whatever level I want and set my upper limit at whatever I want this tool is useless. 🤷🏻 and while you’re at it, let me precondition on demand regardless of my state of charge.🤦🏻‍♂️

Our EV6's in Australia do not have a working Voice Recognition system. No voice commands or any of the stuff that they included in the release notes. All part of the hatchet job they did on our EV6's. No KIA connect, no Voice control, no HDA2....The only voice control that works is what comes with Android Auto or Carplay.

CCNC would then include the 2024 Kona EV

Excellent work, Brian. Slow software development is my main frustration of my EV6, to a point that I am not sure if I would buy a Kia again, once I would like to replace the current one.

Charging stop fixed at 20%? Having the ability to set the lower limit myself would be great news… Hyundai/KIA Software is still stuck in 2022..

Hello Brian, have you seen that the charging and route planning is no longer based on the fixed charging limit system? Destination is fixed to 30% SoC and chargingstop to 20%. The upper charginglimit is now flexible.

Regarding your comment Brian about the annoying EV6 seat heating and cooling haptic buttons that it's impossible to avoid accidentally switching on, I found just the right thickness of clear plastic to put over them using invisible tape. They can be turned on by pressure, but not by brushing a hand across them. 😊

You might want to keep an eye on the Genesis GV60. It sounds like they might have FINALLY made parts available to fix the issue where water gets into and saturates the cabin air filter. I was the first person to report this happening as it was dependent upon how you parked the car, the angle etc. It caused us to reject two cars and the problem was also present in two loan cars. After I made numerous videos, including putting a GoPro in the filter box to record the rain drops, Genesis UK were eventually able to replicate the issue. I first highlighted this in February 2023.

I'm getting invites from my local (Southern UK) Kia dealership to attend EV3 after hours sessions. However I''m going to give it 6+ months and look in the spring next year. Last time i bought a Soul at launch (2020) and paid full whack. I think this is very likely my next EV but from what ive seen of most new EVs, after 6-9 months some very good lease deals come along. Also, my Soul has now done its main depreciation its not going to drop much over the next say 12 months so might as well take advantage of that

Great video. I have a Zappi and a Tesla but no solar. On the Octopus App I clicked the T&Cs check box and pressed the button to switch tariff and got a message … “Uh oh something went wrong We were unable to perform that action” Octopus are aware and looking at it. Still in Beta!

You may have missed the most important potential change of the upcoming update: See item 4.2.1.1.11. Remote Battery Conditioning: "This Service enables you to remotely initiate and stop the conditioning of an electric vehicle's battery via the Kia Connect App. Availability depends on the model, model year and trim line." Hopefully, this will trickle down to the EV6. Everybody who uses this car during winter in colder climate might love this - no more need to use KIAs navigation system to initiate battery conditioning.

Before pulling the seat "forward to get it off the hooks" you need to push the seat back and lift to release it from the hooks. In a J shaped motion. Otherwise this is an excellent guide. Thank you

I have just seen some information on RUclips on this week’s EV3 Tech Day in Korea. This claims that the battery energy density on the EV3 is 22% higher than the Niro EV. This need for greater energy density might explain why Kia has chosen a NCM rather than a LFP battery.

I see there is a new Kia Connect version version 20. I don’t see that added anything though.

Thanks, that popped up on my Nero EV display today while driving and then told me it wont display it whilst driving ! so I wonder what if any changes I can expect. I hope the lag I now get is improved, I upgraded the app by USB stick an noticed a half second or so lag on the display etc

The 360 cam feature is not that great, yes we have it here in the US and you'll most likely never use it. Just takes a photo from each camera and uploads it to kia connect, takes a bit as well to see them show up, it does notify you when photos are ready to be viewed. Only thing the current EV6 needs is a pre condition button, just like ev9.

They still have not implanted remote seat heating, which is a huge fail in my opinion.

Sadly, I think it's blanket terms covering their next gen system. They're not interested in updates. The car can unlock, then relock when you walk away, but not if you've opened a door; so daft. They could have had a parked camera recorder. They could have wireless carplay but don't. The list is long, and no updates since launch. I'd be surprised if there's anything new for us. As far as car manufacturers are concerned, you're supposed to buy a new one; preferably with a bundle deal for all digital options at no cost to them.

They should further improve the car routing and calculation of charging algorythm. than releasing this.

Brian, a general question if you or your listeners can answer... How would a passenger bring an EV6 to rest safely in the event of driver incapacity? * The answer I would imagine, would be dependant on the scenario whether on highway or in town, Which lane it was in etc. Related questions include *does the driver monitoring do anything when not in cruise? Like sound an alarm? * Could the passenger select iPedal, turn on lane keeping or indicate left and hope that the car will come to the left lane or hard shoulder safely? With the park brake slow the car? What can the passenger do to cut the power to the motors? I remember noting that the EV6 did less well in driver incapacity tests in that if warnings weren't heeded it just gives up and let's go the car whilst other cars came to rest in the lane they were in. Little is advertised by manufacturers how to stop modern cars in an emergency but having tested my Peugeot 308 ICE car at low speeds, the stop start button will kill the engine if held down for a few seconds and the park break will start to apply breaking while held up. I wouldn't want to try the latter too often I suspect it will wear the system out too quickly!

Was the EV6 supposed to get a navigator update in June? Is it now the case that when the new Kia EV6 models have been released and moved to the new software platform, the development of the old software ended there. Seems like a slightly worrying development. I have an EV6 GT-Line 2023 AWD. Is there any information about the update schedules?

So it sounds from the story below that the 12 volt battery going dead actually activated the deadlocks. And yet when brian disconnected the battery, it did not. Which suggests that as the battery is failing, either there is a hiccup causing the deadlocks to activate, or the system is deliberately doing so. Either way, Brian has proved there is a mechanism that can result in people getting locked inside the car, and I imagine only 1% of people know there is a boot release facility. Sounds like a safety issue.

I *may* have a solution to the dead 12V battery problem. Years ago I had a battery changed at Halfords, and they put a gadget in the cigarette/accessory socket. I asked what it was, and they said it powered the car while changing the battery so the immobilizer wasn't messed up. I had a hunt, and it turns out its a thing. You can in theory power the car via the 12V interior socket. I had a link, but youtube doesn't like them. I thought, this is right-up-your-street and worthy of a deeper look. I hope it leads somewhere useful. 👍

There used to be a note over the graphics on the Canadian kia map update site that said update in July, that note disappeared a few days ago. 😢

Further to the stolen cars issue. My neighbour had their Jaguar Ipace stolen off their path.The security video shows the thief walk up to the door and it's open almost instantly.Then some fiddling around the steering wheel and then driving off. The whole video(and there is a pause before the action starts) is 1-02 mins.All under a security light and camera at 10-30 at night. SCAREY!!! So no cars are immune.

Unrelated, but I recently went on a road trip up north and my Ev6 won’t accept any charge above 22kwh. It just cuts out so I can’t use any fast charger, which is super annoying. My car is booked in on the 30th for the ICU recall. Does you happen to know if these two issue are likely to be linked or if there is another problem with the car?

Or you can just put it in utility mode and lower the driver side window, get out, reach in lock all doors and pull the window button hard enough to initiate the auto window function. No need to crawl over seats like a toddler.
