My EV6 RWD went in due to the regular inspection after 2 years (23k on Odo). While handing over the keys I was able to get my hands on the papers and there was written with big red letters: ICCU. So I already knew, that's the SC302 (dunno what it is called here in germany). I was lucky, no ICCU replacement was needed, but 13R-Software is now installed (upgraded from 12R, installed three months ago). Keep fingers crossed this will prevent further ICCU blowups.
Thanks for info Brian. I remember with the previous ICCU software upgrade (which we didn't get in Ireland), that via carscanner you were able to see the fault codes which Kia check to determine if an ICCU replacement is required. My car goes in on Thursday for the recall, so I'd love to be able to check myself before it goes in as to whether I will require just a software update or an ICCU replacement. Do you know if that can be checked via carscanner? Ironically, I had my first 12v issue yesterday where the car would not start. The car is 2 years and 4 months old and still on the original 12v. I keep a NOCO Boost pack in the glove box so it started immediately with the booster pack and has been fine since. I was in and out of the car alot yesterday, more than normal, perhaps that was too much for a 12v that may have been on its way out anyway. I charged the car last night in the hope it would charge the 12v, have done about 30km today and it has been fine. I may ask Kia to replace the 12v whilst it is in for the recall as from I read, once a 12v fails to start once, its days are numbered.
You can use Car Scanner to check for the DTC yes. Just select Diagnostic Trouble Codes from the main screen then select only 4WD from the list as this saves time. This is how you check version numbers of ICCU. ruclips.net/video/IWQ1ns5nNzs/видео.html .As for 12v i think it’s likely you will need a new one. The warranty in UK is only 2 years. I don’t know if it's the same in Ireland.
As I already commented on a previous video, I had my update done almost two weeks ago, but also here in Belgium, we still haven’t received an invitation letter yet. The update is available, as my CarScanner ECU dump confirmed the new 13R-software version. Haven’t noticed any differences the last two weeks during my (AC-)charging sessions..
That's good to know. There has been another post update failure on Reddit that I've found on Ioniq 5. Too few instances at the moment to draw any conclusion if this update is an actual fix or not though. Still no news in UK.
@@evodessey One possible theory that I have: there are two big problems with the ICCU. First, problems due to overheating during AC-charging sessions. As I can see in this TSB, they are trying to solve this with a software-upgrade in two ways: EWP (better use of the Electronic Water Pump, i.e. cooling starts sooner at lower temperatures(?)) and Vpeak (limiting the peak voltage(?)). Second, since there were serious problems in the beginning, still (minor) problems due to bad weldings, resulting in coolant leaks. In a previous video, you mentioned several problems with the ICCU soon after new update in South-Korea. Maybe because the EWP is turned on sooner, working longer and consequently increasing the chance of having coolant leaks in the ICCU, resulting in damage? And maybe this second problem only applies to first generation ICCU’s and not to the improved second generation? So, I think it’s interesting to know if the ICCU’s that failed after this new update are v1 or v2.. Just some thoughts I’m having.. 🤔🙂
@peterhelincks2438 yes, good theory ,I'm still wondering if the full GT ever gets the problem. Problem is that the proportion of full GTs sold is probably very low compared to wider population so it could be masking the problem. I've still yet to find one single GT with a failed ICCU.
They seem to be dragging their feet in US,Germany & the UK. The only places that have had a proper recall letter seem to be Korea,Australia & Ireland as far as i know.
My GT Line MY22 got a new ICCU last week old one just stopped charging and broke. Car dealer changed it just hours after they received it, the Stockholm dealer always over delivers
Is it possible to see it the car's software if the update is applied? My car was 2 weeks ago at the dealer with 12V issues and they said that they applied this fix to the car (noticed that in i can see a lower percentage in home assistant). Some where in the service menu maybe?
Random question, has anyone taken a wheel off? If so how and where did you lift it using a jack. I can't find anywhere on the internet where someone has removed a wheel from an electric car.
You will need to scotch your wheels as a safety measure. Jacking points:- ruclips.net/video/2nBNiUSLWIA/видео.html Hub caps:- ruclips.net/video/kRbl1sMCriA/видео.html I don’t know if i took the wheel off though.
I’ve seen a few reports on reddit a from Korea a few weeks back but they did not go into much detail.Without the details i’m not trusting that source. There was one report on KiaEVforums last week of one Ioniq 5 but i think we need to know more details. Was the update actually applied for one? Many cases of folk getting the update and still getting the 2023 one. I’d like to see a Car Scanner ECU dump of the version number before I can draw any conclusions. If they offer it in the UK i will still get it to maintain my Warranty.
Are you sure? Do you have a reference or Campaign number? I checked with my dealer late last week and it’s not available. Last years ICCU Campaign is also still running which is where confusion arises .
Just got the recall letter today in ireland. Booked in later in the month.
I just got my recall notification today May 13 for my 2024 EV6 Wind AWD that I leased in Jan. 2024
I just got my recall notification today, May 13 for my 2024 EV six wind AWD that at least in January 2024 I live in New Jersey in the USA
My Ioniq 6 is booked in for both the ICCU and drive shafts in Australia.
Will let you know what results from it.

I’m in the UK and my EV6 is due for its first annual service. I’m debating whether to wait for the recall.

Thanks! In the US, you said? So still nothing in Europe?
I reported a few weeks ago that some European countries have been getting it. Mostly Nordic I think. No other news yet.

The only way i know of to check is to use Car Scanner App & OBD dongle ruclips.net/video/IWQ1ns5nNzs/видео.html
I received recall letter three weeks ago here in Nevada for ev6 gt.
Really, you would be the first I've heard of then. Was it reference SC271 or SC302?
I would be very surprised if a SC302 letter went out in the US three weeks ago.
Yes in DK to

I’ve done a video probably back in 2021 on jacking points and also how to remove hubcaps. Let me have a dig.
You will need to scotch your wheels as a safety measure.

is it the recall 241041?
Yes
Version 13 is still a broken one isn't it? People getting 13 and still blowing fuses
