I had mine done this morning. Didn't bother with any of the 12V precautions. Just left it with the dealer for a couple of hours. Car Scanner showed 12Vbattery at 14.7V / 85% SOC after 30 min drive home, and new software numbers match what you showed. Lucky I have car scanner as I don't know how you would know anything had been done as I didn't get a single piece of paperwork. Will try DC charging later, and AC overnight. Congrats on the viewing numbers! Well deserved as I've learnt so much!
Brian, congratulations on your views milestone! I got my GT Line Pkge 2 (Canada) in Feb/23, and began watching your channel well before that. It really helped to prepare me for accepting my EV delivery. Please keep up the good work. My only complaint is that your are making me wish for a 2025, but it's just not in the cards at the moment.🤣

Oh you mean actual distance measurement markers on the parking cameras. Yes that’s a good one. I can’t ask them directly because Customer Services don’t know the answer to that but i’m building quite a what if list of features for Gen5W head units.
Are we confident that this UK ICCU recall includes all the other prior ICCU updates. I've not had any prior ICCU updates but do have an appointment to get this recall update done.

Kia declined letting me have a loan car even though they knew it would be 3 weeks before it could be looked at. Tomorrow I should hear how much longer I need to wait.☹️
All the same my dealer got me a Kia Niro EV hire car from Kia UK last year when my display cluster was faulty & there was likely to be a 3 week delay. Why are they treating you differently? I’ve also heard of others getting hire cars if it’s going to be a 3 week delay.
@@evodessey The dealers did not have a loan car available and Kia UK will only authorize a loan car if the delay is their fault (e.g. a part not available). Until the car has been inspected they will not even consider a loan. I have been told that if it is a quick fix (that is, a part can be delivered quickly) I might get the car on Tuesday. The inspection is tomorrow - 3 weeks after it broke down.
@grahamfirman3366 I had mine inspected a few days after it failed,then they had to wait 5 days before Kia would authorise sending out one of theirs so you always have to jump through Kia official warranty hoops
I would be interested to learn which EV's would be on your shortlist if you were to trade in your EV6. Are you happy with the EV6 that you buy again or would you try something else? Me personally I drive an Ariya and was interested in the EV6 as it is RWD but was put off by the low roof line above the door for getting in and out, somehow the Ioniq5 was better in this regard and is on my shortlist, either that or an AWD Ariya.
Brian I have my ICCU software update booked for this Thursday and there seems to be a rash of negative comments suggesting that the update has a problem causing charging issues post update. As we travel to France in a week should I postpone or do you think it's a rare problem? Congratulations on your deserved RUclips success and thanks for all the episodes. Andy
I’ve only seen a few comments where it causes charging issues and that was down to the VCMS (vehicle charging management system) module failing just after the recall has been applied. The majority of comments i’ve seen have been positive. Another point someone made elsewhere is because the recall has now become official via DVLA if you refuse or defer installing the recall update it could affect your car insurance for example if the ICCU failure caused an Insurance claim.I’ve also seen 2 or 3 ICCU failures post update that could have been caused by the ICCU being already partly damaged. I’ve been looking at the number of complaints on the US NHTSA website & my gut says the rate of complaints being posted has been slowing down since the recall but i need to do some work to get to the absolute truth of it.I can understand that you must be really fretting. I’d still get it installed and then test the DC rapid charging and AC charging to make sure it’s all working. Also ensure you have good international breakdown & recovery in place.
I had the update 2024 almost 2 weekse ago. Since that i almost have every day to jump the car. I have an appointment next week with the dealer. I have the rw gt-line 2022 with 34000km
Sorry to hear that. They may have accidentally drained the 12v battery which permanently damaged it & will need replacing. I’m assuming the ICCU is still working. One tip i can give is to leave the V2L adapter plugged in overnight (not activated or being used). This forces the 12v to charge constantly.
@@evodessey thnx for the tip. I had already the 12v problem before the update to. Thats why i got the update already. My vin was on the hotlist but did´nt get a notice of manufacture.
Hello Brian, Last week i left the v2l adapter inserted in the vehicle. For a few days it worked fine but today the fun was over, i had to jumper the car again. Meanwhile i got a recall letter. The update 2024 i got 6 june because i was on the kia hotlist back then. 10 june kia made a recall letter for the same issue that i received last week. I have an appointment with Kia dealer tomorrow for the battery problem. In the kia app i have a warning for 12v battery that says be carefull. I´ll keep you informed later this week. Greetings Arie
Sounds like the ICCU has failed. Would have thought it would be the first thing they'd check. Unless it's some kind of phantom 12v drain.Early Meridian amplifier could cause this. Also if you have drivers power seat, the wiring to the seat motors can develop a short.

I've seen that. Charging problems are more likely to be VCMS failure though (Vehicle charging management system)and I've seen just 2 of those on groups and forums since the update
Congrats on the viewing figure, recommended you to the KIA salesman. Mine was done Friday, no error codes found. Haven't checked version numbers.

Did they have one in stock? Never known it to happen that quickly. Good news they got it before it popped through.
@@evodessey it went pop last week. Car was recovered to them on Wednesday. So, only 4 working days to get part and get it fitted.

That's terrible are you in the UK? I know 2 or 3 owners who had it fixed within a week in UK
@@evodessey yes, Birchwood Chichester sent the car to Birchwood Eastbourne. The problem appears to be staff availability to look at it.

I’m holding on to my EV6 for now. My current interest is the EV3 as a 2nd car. Would i buy the new EV6? I’m undecided.

What menu do you need to be in to check the software versions? Cant see those anywhere. Thanks.
I'm using Car Scanner and obd adapter, can't be seen in the menus
The new lights are not that original in my opinion. Seen some SEATs on the road and they have basically the same lights
