I am getting my EV6 next week and am concerned about the 12v battery issues i am seeing on various boards. Can you elaborate on the "Octopus" issue you mentioned in the video? I am with Octopus and plan to charge at home but i don't want to damage or drain the 12v. Thanks
The big issue was with Intelligent Octopus. The method of charging control that Intelligent Octopus originally used relied on Kia Connect integration. IO polled the Kia Connect on the car way too often to check the status which caused loads of flat 12v batteries. This method has since been banned. It’s much better to let the charger do the integration like myenergi Zappi or Ohme does these days. My Zappi does it this way and I’ve had no issues. If you go for Octopus Go instead that also works fine as long as your charger has a timer. The car’s charge scheduler is too unreliable.
Thanks, that popped up on my Nero EV display today while driving and then told me it wont display it whilst driving ! so I wonder what if any changes I can expect. I hope the lag I now get is improved, I upgraded the app by USB stick an noticed a half second or so lag on the display etc
@@AlanTov Got the car end of March and the response was as fast as my PHEV, on screen I was getting the nag screen about data was out of date and because of the size of download it advised upgrade via USB port. After upgrading via the USB port there is now a small but noticeable lag between button presses and the appropriate action. There are a few you tube videos that mention this , my guess is the sat- nav and other systems have had upgrades and the processor now struggles a bit.
The 360 cam feature is not that great, yes we have it here in the US and you'll most likely never use it. Just takes a photo from each camera and uploads it to kia connect, takes a bit as well to see them show up, it does notify you when photos are ready to be viewed. Only thing the current EV6 needs is a pre condition button, just like ev9.
Came here to say the same thing. I have occasionally used it to take pictures of my car when it's parked at the airport for a few days, but it's not particularly useful, even if it's kinda fun. I wish we could enable some sort of sentry mode. Looks like the 2025 will have that, but earlier models haven't enough storage for what would otherwise just be a software update.
You may have missed the most important potential change of the upcoming update: See item 4.2.1.1.11. Remote Battery Conditioning: "This Service enables you to remotely initiate and stop the conditioning of an electric vehicle's battery via the Kia Connect App. Availability depends on the model, model year and trim line." Hopefully, this will trickle down to the EV6. Everybody who uses this car during winter in colder climate might love this - no more need to use KIAs navigation system to initiate battery conditioning.
That's amongst the stuff that was in last year's terms which I covered back then. There is a ton of stuff that never appeared in October terms from last year
Yes,version 19 on iOS came out a few weeks back, must have been bug fixes on iOS. Now both iOS & Android 20 has come out. Any new features will probably activate after the August Maps & Infotainment update or they might turn features on server side at a later date.
I honestly can’t predict if it will. Loads of features were added to last years Terms for Kia Connect we only saw a few of them and not the ones i actually wanted.
Sadly, I think it's blanket terms covering their next gen system. They're not interested in updates. The car can unlock, then relock when you walk away, but not if you've opened a door; so daft. They could have had a parked camera recorder. They could have wireless carplay but don't. The list is long, and no updates since launch. I'd be surprised if there's anything new for us. As far as car manufacturers are concerned, you're supposed to buy a new one; preferably with a bundle deal for all digital options at no cost to them.
We ended up with several features after last year's T & C update. The Gen5W head unit development is not dead yet though. The new Hyundai Inster has it so they will be continuing for a while longer.

@evodessey thanks. I have a Zappi so I'll make sure to setup the Octopus tariff with that.

Don't understand this. I've not seen any reports of lag. I certainly don't have any on my Niro EV.

@radiotowers1159 have you tried a head unit reset via pin hole next to volume nob?
@@evodessey not yet, I think I’ll wait and see after the planned update
They should further improve the car routing and calculation of charging algorythm. than releasing this.
That’s all done in the cloud in the background so that will happen anyway.

That feature sounds quite clunky. Hope they do a pre-condition button.

Think I'd rather have my own head unit again and no cloud connection.
Interesting, I’d like them to offer wireless CarPlay as a paid for option seeing as they won’t give it to us 🙄
Been waiting on that too I’ll pay for it I just want the native wireless CarPlay I’m tired of using adapters
My Kona 64 already has wireless CarPlay without extra payment.
Is that the new one with cCNC head unit

@@evodessey That's sad to read. Let's hope that KIA will catch up on this crucial function.
I see there is a new Kia Connect version version 20. I don’t see that added anything though.

Yes,that ones been running since 2020 when i had my e-Niro. We can only dream of that.
They still have not implanted remote seat heating, which is a huge fail in my opinion.
I know. Don’t think it’s even on the EV9 yet.
100% this! It's insane that we can turn on the heated steering remotely, but not the heated seats.
It seems worthless, why does kia not mane some ussefull, like manuel on/off preheat of battery, auto lock when you walk away?
They still might do that. It has been in the terms since last year.
@@evodessey i have not many hope, it would be nice if they do updates as offent as tesla, and tesla do usefulls updates.
As usual, disappointing
