oh hey welcome to Beijing! Just went to the Auto show yesterday, it was amazing!!! Im sure you have checked out Fangcheng Bao as well, the Bao 5 is amazing, extended range ev SUV for only 40k usd here in China, its the size of a Prado, but super luxury, air suspension, and a quick 5+ sec to 100, really considering getting one.... And the Zeekr 007, for sub 40k you can get a sub 3s car from 0-100km/h, personally im not really into pure evs, but some of these Chinese brands are producing really high quality and high performance rides. oh by the way, The Warrior 917 is military based, one of the specs also has a drone you can deploy to scout the road ahead, crazy tech.

R&D cost for EV is cheaper than traditional vehicles, for most EV you never need transmission, differential or driveshaft, you don't need to consider about placements of all funtional components in the engine bay while keep the look of designer's draft. As a whole system, EV is so much more simple than ICE vehicles, designing a new EV is very much like designing a body-on-frame vehicle without zero concern about the drivetrain.

    • @stefenleung

In the time it takes Toyota to come up with a concept car and produce something that has no resemblance to the concept, a Chinese brand would have gone through four model generations already.

Chinese car market is a grinder for the car companies now, everyone is bleeding and try to survive. The going down speed of car price is faster than you think. I bought a BMW X3 last year at total 410000 rmb with tax and other stuff, which was almost 500000 rmb a year before that. But this year, I saw the price is going to about 360000-370000 rmb or maybe even lower. Several car companies have died and these are still new comers like Xiaomi. Wait for another 2-3 years, the we can tell who are the survivors.
