I love this little overview series from the bottom of my heart and I have nothing but respect for you, however I do have a slight gripe with some of the editing Sometimes the clips cut in the middle of the word of your final sentence and the transition to the next one is kinda jarring, as a rule of thumb you could try cutting clips about an extra second after finishing your last sentence
Dude lvl5 is basicaly instant now. You got hit by 2 random hits, and boom. Next time he touches you you die.

Embrasque Sword is her DP. The fireball is Star Chaser. The L version of Embrasque Sword move her forward further than before so she can do f.L>623L much more consistent if she doesn't have 22H available.

Anila so worthless in terms of changes she doesn't even get a video LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I mean fair enough legit the character didn't change. - 22L and H and are still too active to use for oki situation without any specific setups, they are a death sentence in neutral if your opponent isn't a snail too. It doesn't matter if you can act faster in the air since you have to wait anyway to link from an air button to a ground button. - 22U is very situational and hard to use it's -75 on wiff, doesn't have any kind of fireball invincibility, isn't full screen anymore and doesn't cross up. On block you are +2 and are not in range for a close button so good luck trying to continue your pressure with that xd. - 236U changes actually hurts. Not only does it reduce your pressure you also lose your chip damage on the third sheep which could be a tie breaker. Also it's still more than a second of recovery and is easily jumped now so like. Why? - 214L now connects from far buttons yippee! Why doesn't 214H get the same changes it wiffs from max range far L. Funny. - 214M~4M This is a buff. It is arguably better than our fireballs at the moment considering the rewards on counter hit. But it is still a risky option to just throw without care so don't be too predictable. - 214H~4H Better corner combos. That's it. There you go, if you wanted to know about the Anila changes. Character is still in the same awkward spot where any character with better buttons than her is just gonna dictate the flow of the match and you have to play super passive and capitalize on your hit confirms in order to take matches. Not a single frame data changes (No the 22 frame data changes means nothing) or hurtbox revision on buttons (Percival f.H got BUFFED btw). If you are an Anila fan sorry to say you won't be seeing her in majors yet. She is still not viable for high level tourneys.
Unfortunately, the self destruct super is still a bit of a meme. It shares the same minimum damage with her normal SSBA and even in a combo as short as autocombo into super, both the self destruct and the SSBA combos will end up doing the same damage but only one risks ending the round if it doesn't kill. The comparison with her normal SBA also isn't as applicable since self destruct requires SSBA conditions. This along with needing specific routing means it still isn't optimal and is really only there to send a message (which I still appreciate). I have found one corner case, a throw combo I was messing with that almost certainly isn't optimal, where the self destruct super was in range, but the SSBA was activated far enough to not trigger the cutscene, making the self destruct the more damaging option. Unless this combo sticks, there really isn't a situation where you'd use self destruct over normal SSBA in terms of damage. Another positive of Volt you didn't mention is how fast the follow up comes out and how high it pops the opponent. Since it doesn't disappear on block an opportunity is opened to punish gaps in blockstrings that 2B didn't have before. Beatrix's 214C is an example off the top of my head where you can activate between the two hits, you trade, but can pick up a combo off of it. There's quite a few other situations where you can capitalize off tiny gaps in pressure if they have volt on them disincentivizing people from trying to take back their turn if you have volt hanging over them.
You missed anila and grimnir. If we're going by character order, they would be before and after siegfried.
A bit curious on the lack of grimnir and anila coverage, but I really enjoyed the breakdown video. Even a light script added after footage is a good idea in the future for preventing some extra takes since it’s a lot easier to stop yourself from stumbling over your words, tho it is extra work if you ever need to go back since you missed something. Haven’t gotten to all of the breakdowns but I’ve watched most of them and really do appreciate them, it’s nice to know changes to look out for.

Thanks for the breakdown! Vane feels a lot better to play this patch, but his U still feels underwhelming when compared to the rest of the cast. Especially compared to a similar type of U like Soriz.
Surprised they didnt rework it but I cant complain about the rest of the changes. Very nice. It does seem they want vane to be a little gimmicky to me.
She seems like a really dynamic character now.
I don't know if you mentioned it and I missed it, but if you call a spot-on bid correctly, everyone else at the table loses a die.
5:07 lucilius has always been able to link close 5m off 66l i really love these visual changes guides you've been doing, i've watched nearly all of them! edit: forgot to talk about 22h, the move would actually whiff if done too close to the enemy, diving behind them, and would often whiff against an opponent moving towards him.

Lucilius is eating this patch. Honestly he feels perfect. That 214 change at level 5 is such a game changer. I don't know if this character ever needs to be touched again lol

the headbutt change made me drop the character lol
All I wanted in the notes was the Blood of the Dragon buffs, and I was so happy we got them. now the combo damage is comparable to stacked Manigance combos, you heal, and there may be routes in BotD that don't work outside of it because it increases the size of specials. I haven't tested yet but it could make the M fireball hard to jump again in addition to stealing the HP. The only thing they could do to really cement it is to add the Ragna effect where you gain more lifesteal the longer the combo goes on, I believe it was up to 150% at 10+ hits.
Regarding the thumbnail... Nier's ears are higher place than human ears lol. Zato isn't helping.
I don’t like raging strikes, for any character. But as much as i hate it, removing a system mechanic from a character sometimes is just a baffling balance decision. Having death had no mechanical effect on raging strikes, why does it now? I've spitballed a lot of silly balance ideas, but just don't let them use universal mechanics lol never crossed my mind.

I'll be honest, most of Belial's buffs really won't change anything. The most useful one is 236U, and I don't think it'll be seen that often. 236M having more combo potential on air hit is good because of how risky it is to use as an AA, but even with the reduced recovery it probably won't be used in that way much. The grounded launch is also kinda whatever. Belial is basically the same character as last patch, and that's the best thing he got in the patch. The unblockable was useful to force a BP, or knowledge check someone who didn't know about it, but it was super integral. I don't agree with him getting buffs at all, but comparing him to pre patch Nier, Seox, or Sieg is a little wild. They won more tourneys, and had more overwhelming tools than Belial did. Sieg literally won neutral with almost no exception with H Fireball. Nier was Nier. Belial is very strong, no doubt. But he has nothing that could just alter the game state in his favor the way those characters did. He's a souped up shoto with a command grab. Really not the worst thing in the world to have as a powerful character. (5U is messed up for zoners tho. That kinda alters the game state for him, like I mentioned.

I think that for the 214U changes will help with his corner carry since if you do a f.h into raging strike raging chain into c.h your chaoscaliber will be back off cd and you can do a 214m to send them further across the screen. Not sure if it sends further than the 2H karma triple attack into 214L I’ll double check that later.

Great vid as always! As a whole I do like this rework and honestly am surprised they were to this extent. My only qualm (speaking as someone who doesnt main nier) is that she should probably be able to use raging strike when death is on cooldown. Maybe reduce its reach when death is on cd?
Nice video man. I play Sieg since day one, because I like a lot his design. I will still playing him, but the nerfs on him was very hard. No doubts about that. Nerf his H fireball, ok. We could saw that coming. But they nerf his entire gameplan and that was surprisely weird for me.
Man, I got a little excited hearing they were reworking her. She was so 1 dimensional and boring to play in comparison to real puppet characters. Instead they just made her 1 dimensional and bad. Still not touching this game I guess.
I’ve been a nier main since day one and these nerfs were all deserved but here’s my hot take…removing the armor on M misfortune was all she needed to remove the unblockable set ups because if you did a brave counter nier would get hit then either beat death because you got Nier, or you’d hit Death and disable her meaning nier gets nothing for it. I understand that with stuff like fatal waltz M and M death, reversed and even M ominous turn could technically set up these situations like death pushing the enemy to nier…but even then you can’t guard crush someone in blockstun. Obviously though she wouldn’t always have them in blockstun so these could still work…I think all they should’ve done is just, remove the armor from the M misfortune if anything especially cause you could actually safe jump her EX misfortune. My biggest complaint though is that now she can’t even do raging strikes while death is disabled. I’ve lost games because of this, but it’s good that she can still combo into death reversed 5U. That’s the only thing I’d really wanna see changed from this patch, either way I’m not giving up on her.
Those who play Nier already dropped her. They can't cook for shit, so they'll just move on to the new braindead thing.

Regarding the fall speed buff, you can actually now do her U into heavy followed by either light or medium Starry Sky. It will frametrap, and if they try to hit you back after the initial jH you can punish them and keep going with a combo. Same if they get hit and you land both heavy and follow up. If they block both... you're still plus on block. Way more pressure than the jump into jM and then autocombo.

About 214H corner change, if I remember correctly you could 2H, 22H, 66H(now 44H) to do 720° combo before. The only thing Bubs losing from that fix is style points.
The fact the entire fgc agreed without so much as saying a word that Nier now works at McDonalds, and Zato is her manager is so funny to me🤣🤣🤣🤣
These videos are really useful as someone who's thinking about getting back into the game but also holy smokes there's clipping wings and then there's this.
I can't comment much on the viability of the character but I can say that she feels pretty terrible to play now. Stance just feels bad. Hopefully it's something I'll get used to but I'm not very hopeful at the moment.
