I Went to the Satisfactory 1.0 Release Party in Sweden! (Vlog)
I was invited out to Gothenburg, Sweden to attend the Satisfactory 1.0 release party with other Coffee Stain employees and special guests. We traveled around the city, visited the CSS offices in Skövde, and ate a lot of food! I tried my best to film the experience, but it's far from perfect! I hope you enjoy this vlog nonetheless!

Do you know what I would like? An elementary thing. So that the drawings are connected to each other during installation. For example, I put the conveyor sequentially through the drawing. And he became whole. And it did not consist of separate pieces. Now, I am building a tire and between the installation of a new tire drawing, I need about 48 conveyor lines to connect with each other and 18 pipes. IT DESTROYS THE DESIRE TO PLAY. Or, for example, I put two buildings in a row and the drawings touch the walls. As a result, one wall is inside another wall. PS. Off topic, but it's a pain)
It looks more like the excuses of a bad programmer.
I feel like the "how should it work" would be that it effectively counts the items coming in and then sorts them in a given direction based on where it is in its count. As an example, if the splitter is set to 10-20-30, then it would do 1 on the left, then it would alternate middle and right along the lines of m-r-m-r, then repeat the right output before splitting the next to the left. The whole sequence would go something like l-m-r-m-r-r-l... My opinion on ratios on programmable splitters is that it gives them a reason to exist. For a lot of people, sushi belts are already just not something that's used very often, and it's even less common that you need to split one sushi belt into two or three outside of big central storages (which I personally never used in early access despite beating it, and had never considered since it never seemed worth the hassle). As such, programmable splitters are basically just more expensive smart splitters to me, and I already basically only use smart splitters for overflow purposes and extremely small hand fed setups like converting plants into biomass or remains into protein. As such, being able to program ratios into a splitter would be something I could make use of, rather than it just being an additional buildable I cycle through when placing down splitters and mergers.
Well, if anything they should do linesplitter. Each splitter knows how many there are afterwards and only take 1 out of how many there are plus itself . Number 6 takes 1 out of 6, number 5 takes 1 out of 5 ...
Yeah can ratio any lines 2:1, 3:1, 5:1, ect. just by adding a extra splitters and having two outputs merge and the 3rd go the other way.

Rather than a precise splitter what if we could get precise conveyor belts instead? A smart belt where you can lower the speed of it to be exact in how many items it can transport every minute

the reason i looked this up was because i want to transport a ton of coal into one area to make a giant coal plant until i get nuclear (basically need to setup aluminium but dont have the power to do so) i didnt really want to use belts because of the distance but trains (in my own testing of the distance) are just slow enough to not be viable when i need a specific amount at a constant rate so i think ill go with trucks since ive personally never even used them before and they seem like the best choice for this
Trucks can be really fun! They require very little infrastructure to set up, unlike trains.
Always run items thru a container before a depot, and seperate items. my tips in research is inventory upload, speed, size, speed, size, speed, speed speed, size, size and size. Why speed is more important, is because when you first run out of depot-items, you need them fast.

There are mods that allow this if you want to do it. It works pretty well but I mostly don't bother because it requires a lot of programming each individual splitter
7:42 You could use "smart splitters" instead of normal splitters. I found that splitters don't work as well if one side is stuck.

I've been building two power accumulators for each geothermal power unit I place. Since my goal is to use all geothermal power available, it's going to be a nice addition. Now I need to start using priority switches...
heres my top 4 most under utilized buildings: batteries ( when unlocked you should always build one in-line with any power generator built. since batteries have the same 2 input connector as lights, you can chain power plant-> battery-> power pole. the main benefit is you are charging right away, and if somethign happens while you are sorting out fuel supplies the fuse wont blow. over time you will natuarally end up with many many batteries, buying you critical time. also when you add new branches to your power grid you can esily check and get the buildings to setup and adjust to the under/overclock settings and not worry about a power surge taking down the whole grid. combined with priority switches you can have a very stable power grid.) conveyor lifts (using these to string production building inputs/outputs is so valuable and time saving. instead of placing a manifold on the same level as the production building use a lift to take the I/O up off the ground. multiple inputs can be tricky but not too hard to solve.) programmable splitters (great for a sushi belt to dump your inventory back in to your mall, or just back to proper storages), this one is kind of the opposite but actually underutilize your production buildings: Underclocking instead of overclocking (i only overclock miners/extractors, and underclock nearly everything else. it saves massive power early game, allowing you to sprawl much earlier, i can get by well in to phase 2 on just 4 coal plants and a few biomass burners, and by steel you can easily double the coal plants to the starter 8)

simple answer to the counting problem : downclocking your buildings makes you able to be as flexible as you can afford space. Try downclocking first, you'll see a lot of options and different designs emerge. Efficiency is the key ! Space, we have plenty ! and your electricity bill will thank you also, you can grind any excess

One detail nobody mentions about the depot is… how do you control how many stacks of each kind of item gets stored on the depot? The depot could become useless if it got overfilled with concrete and there is only so much space total on it.
Each individual item has a max stack size. So for example at level one, you can only have one stack of concrete (500 concrete) but this does not affect how many of another item you can have.
My entire approach is just to optimise the design & construction of the factory to be easier & faster. I'll literally drop down stacks of 18 constructors and ask later if I actually needed that many. Like sure, they'll turn on & off and that means you need a bit more power, but you ALWAYS need more power because the factory is always growing, and why waste time making it perfect when it's already... um... Satisfactory. I'd far rather spend my effort making more machines. Humanity is counting on me. Anyway point being it's nice to hear someone say that overproducing is fine actually. The only time I optimise for exact throughput is with fuel power generators, when I've maxed out the local oil wells.
Coming from factorio I really like manifolds but its doing my head in because the belt speed and capacity is quite low early. The belts simply dont move fast enough to supply all the machines, no matter how much ore is coming in
Yeah, large manifolds are very hard in the early game but once you get Mk.3 belts they become easy.
I'm always pleasantly surprised when I learn a popular RUclipsr or streamer lives in the PNW. I have flown out of PDX far too many times to count in the last 6 years. For some reason the hold Cntrl for replacing splitters/mergers doesn't work for me. It just acts normal, trying to place the splitter above or below. I've checked and there are no belts attached to it at the time. I also can't find and empty keybinding in settings. I'd love this to work.
Maybe this is naïve of me but isn't this what smart splitters in overflow mode do? If you have, as in the example, 30 incoming steel beams and you want 24 to go one way and 6 to go the other doesn't a smart splitter set to "Any" (or the specific item) going one way and "Overflow" set to go the other way result in 24 items going one way and 6 items going the other way? I mean yes there's some time/waiting involved, but ultimately you get exactly what you need going each direction. What advantage does a splitter programmed to be 24 left and 6 right have instead?
Yeah, in that relatively simplistic example an overflow would work. And honestly so would a regular splitter - if the first machine can only take in 24, eventually it will back up and the other 6 will overflow to the second machine. But people are impatient I guess.

It seems like people want a whole new machine to just skip past some start up time, but in the end their new machine method and current methods both yield 100% efficiency. Not trying to offend those people, and yes I guess it would be nice to cut out startup time on larger factories, but maybe just go work on something else while your new factory starts up. There's never not another project you can just start building while waiting for something to start up.

I use the converters, but not for turning one resource into another, necessarily. It's all about the fisconium generating tier 9 resources. Otherwise, not useful.
I find it hard to value the converter. Yeah you can change things into other things... but you need SAM to do it. Same is hard to find and you have to deal with getting the same to where you need it to convert.. Almost just easier to go find the resource you need to move it. But maybe its more useful for giant giant factories.
Yeah, it's really only useful if you're doing something huge, but if you want to do the ULTIMATE nuclear setup or something like that, it's essential.

People wanting precise splitters to stop a problem is literally contrary to the gameplay... would it be nice, yes, but the entire gameplay loop consists of finding solutions for these issues with the tools given... having a literal single tiny building to fix this issue for you by just putting in the number kind of defeats the point of the game.
My opinion exactly. As the devs always say: players will go to great lengths to optimize the fun out of a game!

Purple, which I just noticed was a color today, is the same as green but your doubling the result with a sloop. They also emit sparkly purple smoke instead of normal smoke or steam.

Upload speed is bis. If you fill it faster than you can use it then you don't need the bigger size, additionally the speed doubles every step where size just increases by 1 stack. Always max speed first.
