How can I access the card sketches ?
Hi Elizabeth - these are available on line here is a link - sandyallnock.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/OWH-Sketches-1-259-bonus.pdf
Absolutely beautiful, great techniques. Love the shading.
Thanks for your encouragement Dae! I am amazed at the movement of one drop of paint!!
@@SeniorSusieStamps Me too! I've been practicing stamping items on the watercolor paper and trying to control the water when shading. IT'S FUN AND DEFINITELY RELAXING!!!!
Today was another fun example of water coloring. Thank you Julia🌹
Glad you enjoyed it! I know it's slow starting, but it is nice to be able to make something out of a study piece.
The cards are pretty and whimsical too, Julia. I actually thought a first look that they were water coloured backgrounds. You are probably right in the middle of your move. Make sure you take your breaks or you can hurt your back … 😘❤️🇨🇦
Thank you so much! Oh goodness this move is about to overwhelm and we haven't even gotten to any studio stuff yet. We are taking a break this weekend and doing a bit of fall yardwork. The change of pace helps break up the pressure of unpacking.
Goodmorning Julia, I admire the scientific way you aproach the watercolouring. I am not scilled at all but I had nice results, drawing flowers without stamping outlines, watching a video from creationsceecee on RUclips. Have a nice day and I hope the moving goes smooth!
Thanks for sharing! And for coming along on my journey. My drawing skills stink - you'll find that out soon enough. I just wanted to start with the very basics for all beginners out there, something we can build on.
@@SeniorSusieStamps I think your drawing is ok, as far as I can see in your videos! 😃
G'day Julia, I am loving your watercolour journey from the beginning, as you start to explore all the fun techniques. 🎨 The second book that you popped on screen by Harriet De Winton looks very impressive and detailed in painting watercolour florals and foliage. I must confess that I absolutely love the wet-on-wet technique and use it often. The whimsical dancing tulips that I sent you were wet-on-wet. I am always mesmerised as the colours spread within the wet area. I have noticed when painting with watercolour that it is fine to leave white spaces, and I love the idea that it doesn't need to be perfect. Like you I use the Pigma Micron black pen, and the Pilot Hi-Tec-C in black as well. Both work brilliantly when adding doodles into your watercolours. Well done Julia for what you have achieved, and I am sure you will be encouraging a lot of lovely people out there to trying watercolours for themselves. After all we all must start from the beginning. God's blessings, love and hugs from your Aussie friend! 🌸🩷🌺
Thank you for all your encouragement My Friend!! I am feeling a bit harried at the moment, but not when I am in my studio studying watercolour. It is a blessing to be able to have this little respite from the move. I want to show beginning baby steps for true beginners out there - like me. Love and Hugs back across the world to you with God's Blessings!
Great lesson on both of the flowers. That card that you made is awesome. thank you for sharing it.
You are so welcome! The card and bookmark are on their way to Canada to a penpal I met through this lovely youtube group. I hope you are getting your paints wet too!
I love the card you made, it's beautiful. Enjoyed watching the transformation your flowers were making as you added the extra coloring and lines, sure made a big difference! Looking forward to the next video.
Thank you so much for your encouragement Helen! Adding pen and some extra color here and there really makes a difference in a finished card. I love the way the paint mixes, and as I get better hopefully it will need less touch up.
Wet on wet is great LOL I need to practice more with it. I like the tube paints better than the dry pan water colors. Even if the leftovers on the palette dries, just add water to rejuvenate the tube paint. It’s probably all in what you get use to. Maybe I will get motivated to try watercolors again with these wonderful videos. Thank you for doing these.
Oh isn't it fun to see what the paint does when you do wet on wet? It's amazing to me how far it travels. Get those paints wet Sister!! Come on down this journey with me!
You need to paint on matter /canvas and frame your talents in your craft room. ❤
Oh Gosh! Well I do have the birdies on display. Maybe after I get much much better...LOL
Thank you, Julia! I love your videos! I needed this refresher!
You are so welcome Vicki! I hope you are getting your paints wet along with me!
Thank you Julia, I enjoyed watching you paint .
I appreciate your encouragement Christine!!
Hey julia, i love wet in wet. Its very majical. Enjoying your journey so far. Look frwd to the nxt one. Good luck with new house. ❤ Take care of you. X❤
That's the perfect term for it - Magical!! It amazes me how the paint moves...
Really like the card you showed.❤
Thanks so much Caroline!
I've just found your channel. Thank you so much for these ideas. Looking forward to see more. May I ask how you store your scissors. Thank you
Hi Irene - One of my middle names is Irene! Welcome to the channel and I hope you find lots to backwatch here. There is another video similar to this one from earlier this year you might find interesting ruclips.net/video/zJ3IE16ovp0/видео.html And to answer your question - I store my scissors in a carrosel that they came in from amazon www.amazon.com/ECR4Kids-Decorative-Scrapbook-Multicolor-ELR-0239/dp/B0006SUXBC/ref=sr_1_1?crid=3DHZGHVHKMBK7&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.51ooyYAma_0lxaY7-6rpEQUIAb5CgKqMN6ugnldm_Gg9LA2Fm47FxO5-8IlWyW1g3mmb6XehtZQlVVBkMHaACKqes-vNaAK5E09TlIDUrKTADa56Q6OXDTUpe1QU5NyTPMW30gphMYJNH-jQ3GPuTSksP0OawD0wrYuKs-xOiGnU04cS_ch7_uRDYLcYRMbcbIf4mb6Iz_gzXOZotl9-zWwyj6EvbaxZO4VfqBgbGKol-CLr8PutHnOsxND3gWaAXid7d3JhncLjeGxy2Oz2d6UnShGqeoXvwbJBLghw3fg.6CXYpo7klMfwll9D5pJWlKy1eo-yVjsBsuPb0zzqOQ8&dib_tag=se&keywords=craft+scissors+carousel&qid=1728050876&sprefix=craft+scissors+carrosel%2Caps%2C140&sr=8-1
Love the template. I think I had one a few years ago when my friend and I made 80 pinwheel Christmas cards. Cards are great! Guess I'll head to the craftroom! You have inspired me!
WOW I am impressed - 80 pinwheel cards took a lot of time to cut and put together!! I am sure they were just beautiful. It's a great technique to pull out every few years and renew a little differently!
I'll be going on your journey with you and learning along the way. I love you cat paint brush holder to cute.
Oh that makes me so Happy Terrie - I am delighted you are joining in with me on this journey!!
These are great cards to mass make and they are elegant and classic as well. TFS!❤
Glad you like them! They were very well received too!!
This was so fun to watch!! Looking forward to more info! ❤❤❤❤
Get your paints out Melody and let's explore together!
Thank you! This will be fun!
Thanks Judy - I hope you are getting your paints wet too!!
I really like these!! Simple and easy!
Glad you like them Carol! The first on can be a bit fidgety, but they are a lot of fun to make!
I believe I can try this, you are a gem 💎
Awww Sharon - I know you can!! Explore your ink combinations and have fun with it!!
I LOVE THESE!!!!...My first time watching. Thank you
I hope you'll try some Patricia! The first one may be a bit fidgety but they grow on you fast. There lots of other videos on the channel if you have time and interest to backwatch. Happy crafting!
Thank you for sharing your beginning watercoloring journey, glad you have your mothers's brushes to give you joy and memories as you make your journey.
Me too Helen! I have her old paints tin also - but it's packed away. It's pretty banged up but I don't care. I will be using it as soon as I find it! Have a great week!
Hey there Julia, you can imagine my delight when I found this video this morning. I am going to enjoy watching as you discover the joys of watercolour painting, and I am looking forward to YOUR journey. It is extremely helpful watching videos on water colouring, and there is a plethora of videos on YT at different levels of painting skills to guide you. I must say my favourite colours are sap green and permanent rose... they are gorgeous and are my favourites when I paint florals. You know how much I love the colour pink. 🩷 If I may make a suggestion, please... apply a good squirt of each colour onto your paint palette and allow it to dry completely before you use it. I find that if you use paint straight from the tube you are more likely to use more paint. Once the paints are dry spritz them with plenty of water, and then allow the brush to soak up all that gorgeous pigment. Julia, do you have any of your mother's artwork? It must be very special for you to use her brushes, and in a way by using them, a part of her is with you. 🩷 Enjoy the process, but more importantly... have fun! God's blessings, love and hugs. 🥰🎨🌺🩷
Hello My Friend! Thank you for your guidance - you know I can use all the help I get. I will go back and add more paint to my pallet. The set of Cotman's should be in soon and I'll do it all at one time. We are so busy right now - it's crazy. But I think about watercolouring all the time. I was planning video #3 in the shower this morning LOL! Take care of you, Lots of love!!
You can get No line ink from Honey Bee stamps. It let's you watercolor your stamps and it looks like you painted the whole thing!
Oh Thanks Debra - I will have to check that out!!
Just the right pace. Thank you so much for allowing us to join you on your journey. I’ve always wanted to learn watercolor, Ya! Im so excited.❤. I love the cats and will be getting some to match my babies.
Thanks Andrea! Did you get the workbook or are you just following along?
Great stress-free, non-overwhelming beginning video! Thanks for sharing this with us! I am looking forward to the next one.
Thanks Moraine - I am really enjoying this! I was always so intimidated by watercolors and painting in general. But if you break it down into baby steps, I think it's manageable.
Hi Susie! Thank you so much for starting this journey. I've been curious using watercolor paints and think I can become hooked! Can't wait for your next lesson. I'm ordering everything today!
Yay! I love having company. Once we get through the drills, it will be on to the fun stuff - can't wait!!
I will be teady!😊
LOL, ready! See, so excited I can't type correctly.
Thank you! I do collages, decoupage and card making too and I have so many scraps tossed in boxes. When I look at them I could cry! I will never be as neat and organised as you but I can make a start.
Trust me I didn't start out managing my scraps this way. I kept them in a drawer, and then I kept them by color. Nothing worked, until I started keeping the scraps with the parent paper. And I made it a firm studio rule not to cut a sheet until I had gone through all the scraps first. You'd be surprised at how few sheets I have cut into in the last 2 years since really changing my focus to scraps first.
Hey julia, im so excited for you. Your mamas brushes will im sure make a world of difference in your journey. Hopefully see you soon. You take care of you. ❤
Thank you so much!! It's a joy to be able to use them.
I have yet to try watercolors, so im looking forward to following your journey Julia.
I'm taking it slow Betty - so come join me!!
I'm going to🎉
I love this! Anyone would be thrilled to get a gorgeous home made card, thanks for the idea Susie!
You are so welcome!
What a beautiful cards! I tried one out myself and that went so good I decided to make my X-mascards for this year in your way. Thank you for sharing and for the inspiration! Greetings out of the Netherlands. 🌷 Marjan
Hello Marjan and Thank you! I am so glad you found these worth repeating. They are easy and a great card especially if you have limited supplies. And it's just a fun way to play with your inks!!
Nice card. ❤
Thank you! 😊
I love all the cards…they are fun and whimsical. ❤ Again, so excited for you to settle into your new home and studio. Prayers for an easy and safe transition.
Thanks Gigi! We close this morning and are moving porch furniture first thing - and the coffee pot LOL!! That's pretty much the way we roll...
@@SeniorSusieStamps LOL!! Love the priority list! I pray all goes smoothly at the closing. ❤️
I was sceptical to begin with, doing the stamping first, but it turned out beautiful.
Thanks Donna!
I bought the glue upon your suggestion and I love it. It gives me more time to place my elements and does not warp the paper. It is my new favorite. For sure, will be there on Wednesday! 😊
I'm so glad you like it Johanne - I am completely sold on it. See you soon!
Congratulations on the new house!! So happy to hear that this is all coming together finally!! Your cards were all beautiful! It’s hard to pick a favorite but I do really like the one from today! On the one that you said was probably going into the bin, could you take a blending marker or a color lifter marker to the green swipes (I’m guessing that’s the part you didn’t like)? I don’t know what kind of markers you used but if they are alcohol markers you could try to lighten the green with either a blender or color lifter or maybe even a atop with a little alcohol on it - very little alcohol. You could also try going over them with a lighter green as sometimes lighter colors will lighten up darker colors if they are alcohol based.
Thanks Maureen - I thought about trying to lift some of the marker back off, but ya know - it's only paper and it's OK to toss a card once in a while. But (LOL) it's still in the card rack - HA!!
Such BEAUTIFUL cards!!! CONGRATS on finding a new home!!! Looking forward to seeing your new studio!!! Have a great week!!!
Thanks Kathleen - You too!!
Julia you always come up with some great background ideas. It looks like extreme closeup of ,Christmas lights looking through a window that has rain coming down outside.
Oh yes Roxanne!! I see that!
When you pulled off that tape, the card just popped and came to life. I love it. Thank you for sharing your technique.
Thanks Barbara - Isn't masking fun?
I love all the cards! Thank you for sharing ❤
You are so welcome! These are some of my faves for 2024.
G'day Julia, I have kept you in my prayers these past months as you transition into your hopefully forever home. 🩷 I absolutely love these cards, and your colour choice is stunning. You are right in adding some gold splatters as it would lift the cards to the next level. I was surprised at how the brown ink blended in the corners only made such a difference, but subtly. I just love what you come up with, and as I no doubt have said before you are a very talented lady. I am looking forward to 'Susie's Watercolour Wednesday' tutorials, and hopefully you will inspire me to return to my watercolour paints again. I stopped cardmaking and painting over winter and snuggled under a rug reading books. As it is now getting warmer (Spring here in Australia) that I no longer have a valid excuse to stay out of my craft studio. I am looking forward to painting along with you. 🎨 Take care my friend. God's blessings, love and hugs. 🥰🌷🩷🎨
Hey Gloria! This bunch of colours has such a nice blend, and you are right the brown is key to toning it down subtly. I hope you won't be disappointed in Wednesdays you are such a marvelous watercolour artist! But thank you for your support of my journey. I am enjoying the beginning chapter! God's blessings, love and hugs.
Happy to hear you will be closing on your new home, can't wait to see it and your new studio when it is done. All your cards are beautiful, I can't choose a favorite, they are all great cards. I enjoyed watching you make todays card. Congrats to you and Jon on the new house!!
Thank you so much Helen! Hope you are well! I say let this move begin - so we can be done with it!!
Congratulations on your new house! How exciting! Love the card you made today.
Thank you so much Susan!
I love these! So colorful! Looking forward to the Wednesday video!
Gorgeous….I love these
Thanks Susan - I had to stop myself making them for a while!
Hi Julia. Wow, first let me say congrats on your new home. I'm so happy and excited for you. What great cards. My favourite one is the one you made tonight. The colours just seemed right. Thanks so much. ❤ 🇨🇦 😊
I know - it's such a relief not to be facing another year of building and then all the yardwork that goes with new construction. Glad you liked this card!!
Those cards turned out beautifully! So excited that you will have a new studio and all your supplies soon!
Me too!! I'm not looking forward to the unpacking chaos, but I will pace myself!
