Winter Carp Fishing - The First Snow

As temperatures are starting to drop I'm testing out a large baiting strategy. With over 100kgs of boilies, things are bound to get crazy in the coming months. In this video, I head out for an hour before work to see if the fish have moved in on the bait that's been going in steadily. Even though it was hand-numbing conditions I would've loved to leave the rods in the water a bit longer, but sa...
Carp Fishing Lake Huron on a Calm Fall Afternoon

It's been a while since I've posted a video. I thought I'd start off again by documenting my Fall Sessions. I have purchased a serious amount of bait (100 kg) to test out a heavy baiting approach with boilies as temperatures drop, just to see how far I can extend the carp fishing season here in Canada. As temperatures drop, I have found carp normally switch to feeding in the afternoon until aft...

    Great review👍 Re: the Sonik Ext. Series net, I’ve now gone through two nets - each breaking at the same spot 😢while setting it up. I find it incredibly difficult to force both handles into the spreader block. Once I get one side in, the amount of force and pressure I need to exert on the second net pole is massive, unfortunately ending with two broken handles right at the screw-in bit of the handle. Sorry if that's not a clear explanation.

    • @NathanKCutler
      @NathanKCutler 2 месяца назад

      Yea I’ve heard stories from other anglers of theirs breaking there as well. Luckily mine is still going strong, I’m as gentle as I can be with it as it’s only plastic. I find if the mesh is in the wrong spot on the arms of the net as it often slides up and down after each fish it can cause even more pressure when setting it up.

    This net is good but it’s an absolute nightmare to pack away that spreader block is super tight , any tips?

    • @NathanKCutler
      @NathanKCutler 2 месяца назад

      Hey Connor, I agree the spreader block is tighter than most other nets and the soft rubber coating makes it a bit "sticky" when sliding the net arms in and out. Other anglers have also warned if you force it too much it breaks easily. Luckily I have just taken my time when setting it up and taking it down and its still working fine. I've found dunking it in the water helps a bit with getting the arms in on initial setup.

      Hey Chris, the 10ft is 167.5 cm and the 12 ft version is 198cm. I upgraded to a nash holdall and the nash transporter but have since gone back to these as they have a bit more room and padding to protect the rods. Definitely recommend them.

    Ive had 3 of the dominator X rs nets, first one failed on its first outing, second one lasted about 5 uses!! The arms of the net just sheer off where they go into the spreader block which is a real shame as the handle is superb, ultra light and floats like a dream, it would have been better if they used a conventional spreader block that the nets pushes into and comes out of with ease

      In all honesty I go this wrong, my nets are the dominator X rs nets, absolutely beautiful nets but they need re inforcing on the carbon arms when they go into the spreader, one of them is still going strong and.been used hundreds of times, must have been a bad batch maybe?

    I had a Special Ops transporter for my 10ft scope rods.... Brilliant piece of kit for keeping your rods protected, HOWEVER, they are so badly designed!!! Although the concept is brilliant, they are garbage!!! Why??? The top pockets are great, it's the internal storage GRRRRRR, its underneath the rods!!! So you have to take all your rods out to access the storage compartments... Which brings me to my point... Why didnt they put side access in? I have a Fox Barrow... The bags and all storage have access zips on the side so you on't have to take all the stuff off the top of the bag to get what's inside. WHY ON EARTH DIDNT NASH THINK OF THIS???? The potential behind the transporter would of been 1 million time bigger and better if they did so... You could get out all the important stuff out first, that you need before taking the rod out. Also, they needed to put walls around in inner compartments... They just flatten and loose shape without this!! Such a simple concept... I sold the transporter case, it really did my head in!!! You could potentially get everything in that transporter... Unfortunately, you have to take your gear out to access it!! Sorry for the gripe... They aint cheap neither!!!

    • @NathanKCutler
      @NathanKCutler 8 месяцев назад

      No apologies are needed! I agree the inner pockets would be better with some sort of solid wall to hold their shape. I put some small buckets in them to make them keep their shape and not collapse. The idea of size zippers to access them would definitely make the Transporter a much more viable option for sure! I tend to use a 2-rod sleeve more often than the transporter these days. The only time I get it out now is for multiday trips where I can pretty much drive up to a spot and keep the transporter in the truck. Thanks for the reply. It will give others thinking of buying the transporter some added info to aid in their decision.

    • @lespaul3717
      @lespaul3717 8 месяцев назад

      @@NathanKCutler The point of the transporter is that you can get all your stuff in, and yes you can but, the way its designed kind of kills that idea... Lets just say, you can't put anything important that you need first , ie, rod pods, bite alarms etc, that those underneath pouches are perfect for, without taking your valuable rods and reels out & sticking them somewhere, while you get that stuff out... Like I say, it annoyed me that much because it didnt do what I wanted to, I sold it... Great concept, killed be bad design.

    How much does the smart liquid last underwater...imean how much time between a launch and another?

    • @NathanKCutler
      @NathanKCutler Год назад

      Hey Donato, the smart liquid is slow to form and cloud up in the water. It sort of hangs in the water column for a long time. In calm lakes it would last for about 30 minutes. Rivers or big waters with a lot of waves it would dissipate quickly I imagine. It seems to separate once in the water, some travels up and some spreads out along the bottom. The liquid that spreads along the bottom and into the silt would provide attraction for hours, unlike other liquids that wash off quickly.
