  • In this video, I quickly explain how a baitrunner reel works for carp fishing and if you actually need it.
    Simple and to the point. A lot of RUclips videos draw out explanations, I know your time is important and appreciate your views so I try to keep these tutorials quick and to the point.

    I absolutely love the versatility of the baitrunner reel. I switched over to exclusively baitrunner for all my saltwater fishing. The reasons being, when i cast, the baitrunner reel spins and lets off line as my finger holding the line gets retracted whereas the regular spinning reel doesnt turn upon casting which translates into shortened casting distance and inaccuracy due to finger plucking and braking the line causing wayward casts. The next reason the bait runner is so good is it prevents line twist because of how the mechanics are set up. The last but not least reason the bait runner is so good is that you can flip and pitch it much more efficiently. You can also adjust the bait or lure according to the type of casting you want to do. You can put on a nice size weight and you have a baitcaster alternative. Lastly, you can pier fish with it so effectively. If you dont have a bait runner reel, you better go get one. You dont know what youre missing out on.

    I love the BR feature on Carpfishing reels.
    I'm using the Daiwa Opus Plus 4000BRI
    It's a very reliable reel, especially for the price. Now it's time to upgrade to a big pit reel though, i feel i'm at that point now, this is just too small especially for open waters.
    Awesome videos, keep up the good work! 👍

      Marco Carp Angler Yea, the baitrunners are great. I wish I would’ve started out with the big baitrunner model. I upgraded to thr Shimano Ultegra 14000s and for sure notice the difference. A lot easier on the arms when you have a busy day in the water. Better casting distance as well. 👌

I try to keep things short and to the point so not to waste viewers time. 👌 I notice so many other channels go through the “blah blah subscribe like blah blah etc etc.” By the end of he day I spend more time listening to that stuff than actual relevant content. 😂 *I apologize, rant over* 👌

    Hi great vid! Would you know how much line to run on the spool? I’ve done mine but not sure if it’s to much or to less? Also it’s slightly uneven on the spool is that ok? Your video at 3:36 shows a slightly uneven line on spool also being more layered at the top and slims down towards the bottom, just wondering if that’s ok as that’s what mine has spoiled up like, thanks

    • @NathanKCutler
      @NathanKCutler  3 года назад

      When I spool my reels at the start of the year I fill them to just under the lip at the top. I shot this video partway through my season and had stripped off line on multiple occasions, hence why it’s not as full as it should be. Line lay and the amount of line you have in your spool is a factor when you’re casting. The more optimal it is, the farther and smoother your cast will be. If I’m fishing at range and having to cast I use my shimano ultegra 14000’s (reeks with much larger spools) I mainly use my smaller baitrunners when I’m fishing close to shore or off my boat where I can drop it straight off the side, hence why I don’t worry about the line being perfect in them all the time. 👌 Solid questions. I should cover them in a future video. 👍

    Is there a disadvantage for using This reel on the beach fishing?

    • @NathanKCutler
      @NathanKCutler  3 года назад

      Any fishing where a fish takes the bait and hooks itself is good. I believe some companies make specific surf fishing reels that are similar.

    What reel do you use?

    • @NathanKCutler
      @NathanKCutler  3 года назад +1

      The baitrunners I use are Shimano Baitrunner ST RB 10000’s. Pretty good price for a decent baitrunner reel.
      I have upgraded to some bigger shimano ultegra 14000’s. Much easier for big fish. The ultegras don’t have a baitrunner feature they’re more of a quick drag reel.
