Book Giveaway Olivia Rodrigo GUTS tour
You mentioned s ghost dog story, a book with a fantastic ghost dog is "Sundial" by Catriona Ward (I loved it but haven't mentioned it before bc there's a relatively high amount of animal violence)
Probs not for me then as fantastic as it might be - I may have written violent stories in the past but no animals were ever hurt in them
This was so fun to watch. I love seeing you two together. You both seem to just light up in each others company. The conversations about the books were fun. That Schitt's Creek fan book looked super cool. I loved the series. Thank you for sharing ladies. 🥰🥰🥰
We very much feel like sisters 🙃
As someone that reads as much as you do I think you could have a powerful commentary on the kopimi movement. It's a demographic of people that think individuals are just memetic relays that perceive and copy what they like. It's mostly computer scientists trying to apply their thinking to psychology. It's copy/paste as a philosophy, they ultimately believe that there's no such thing as originality and a person is just a meme factory. I think you are sooo much more than that you beautiful soul! <3
I’m not familiar with that philosophy and tbh I’ve met many varied individuals who would disprove it. Especially those who aren’t on social media and not familiar with meme culture. To a certain extent we are the conglomeration of everything we have been exposed to but I think that there isn’t a single person who’s lived an identical set of experiences therefore no two individuals are exactly the same, we all differ in some way But Thankyou for your kind words
Perhaps in 2025 I should also try and be a few weeks ahead with my content so I can have “the cushion” too 😅 because I’m always scrambling, and then usually my son or I get sick and then I just go “welp guess I’m not posting” 😂
@@SharniandBooks yep I’m totally going back to the cushion - it means I’ll have to batch film to get there but once I’m there I’ll feel much better cos lunch throws too many curveballs to post in real time
Woody's eyepatch made me think of The Wild Huntress, a patch with a small iron charm incorperated would be super cool!
@@zachreads awwwww 🥹
I still think Woody could have gotten a pirate eye patch, or perhaps have like this giant evil looking over-sized eye ball. But the lil heart is cute. Despite "Never run from one such as me, female," is cringe but I like when some powerful being says, "Never run from one such as me, mortal."
See, the “don’t run mortal” line said by a villain is totally badass The “don’t run female” said by a theRapist “love interest” is 🤢
Those blind date books are so fun, I loved how that one lady wrapped them, so cute. Kresley Cole is one of my best friends favorite author, but that book doesn't sound very good to me either. I don't like to glorify that kind of behavior. I never read the book but did see the movie "Gone Girl". I thought the movie was really good, but I can see someone being blinded from their normal self because of love or obsession or whatever kind of love that is. This was so fun to watch. Thank you for sharing sweet lady. 💖
Yeah most “dark” romance isn’t for me, I very much like full consent From what I’ve heard, the movie is great. I do think it would work very well as a movie
"She can't even touch herself." No other channel gives me this cognizance.💕❤♥😺😻
☺️ glad to be of service
It is such an annoyance to not get the right book/genre from these blind packages, at least you got some good bonus stuff as well!
Yeah that wasn’t great - being sent two books that I didn’t choose was crappy but the others delivered a better experience
I ended up dnfing the courting of Bristol Keats because I couldn’t handle the writing and how cliche it felt to all the romantasy tropes…
Wise move
I also do like no research about books before I read them. I like when i hear someone talk about it and then I get hooked and read it.
Yep same Preferred way to pick up books
The Games Gods Play and The Crimson Moth are getting slammed by everyone I trust with reading opinions, so I'm glad I can avoid those and not waste my time 🤣
Hahaha the people you trust clearly have good taste then
It is always so difficult losing ones we love and that is especially true when it comes to our fur families also. Heartbreaking. 💖
It’s true, but our love lasts forever even when separated
I like Big Mugs and I cannot lie, me too darling. I love putting crystals in my dainty tea cups...LOL I have big mugs to drink out of. You are so sweet. It was so nice seeing you receive some wonderful gifts and how it affects you. Still watching, sorry for all the comments. I will forget if I don't comment while I'm watching.
Right!! Ooo I never thought of using the small cups to put crystals in, what a great idea!
What wonderful gifts. I think that is Mahogany Obsidian? Still watching. 💖
Thankyou!
This was great! You are my main source for possible reads. I am not a voracious reader like yourself especially fiction, but I enjoy learning about the books through you and whether or not they are worth my time. Thank you so much beautiful lady. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. 😍😍😍
You're very welcome - and happy holidays!
I watched this bit by bit throughout the day. Enjoyed it :)
Glad to hear it ☺️
Two and half hours of Chanel? Merry Christmas to me!
@@bradwhalen445 hahahah that’s a lovely way to put it
@ just finished the video. Would definitely enjoy a long form video again, it definitely did not feel like two and a half hours. Question about ratings though. All the books you did not DNF were 3 stars or over. Have you rated books 1 or 2 stars that you did finish? And what made you finish a book rated so low?
@ that’s very sweet of you to say And yes, when I mood read the aim is to never have anything less than 3 which is why I DNF But for my themed reading vlogs, like get real weird with it, where I read out of my comfort zone, I regularly read books I’ve rated 1 (or 0). In those vlogs I push through to see whether the ending can turn it around, unfortunately that doesn’t always happen
You spoil us! I can't wait to watch this when I get back home. Wishing you a wonderful Christmas. ❤️💚
@@mafiabugsy2763 merry Christmas my friend 🎄
I had a nice Christmas with family and got a new microphone! Then come back and find a new and long Chanel vid. That's a good Christmas. Sanderson and I do not mix. I thought the first Stormlight book was good enough to go for the 2nd but just barely. When I finished the 2nd I was so bored I said if the 3rd book starts the same I'm done. I did not make it 75 pages. BUT, I am in the minority, people love these books. I suspect when an author gets really big the only thing an editor does is spell check. I DNF Mistborn. LOTR is your favorite! I don't blame you and I never argue against it. My own fantasy favorite I have mentioned is Thomas Covenant, but alas I can't recommend it to everyone.
@@Montie-Adkins yay for quality audio! Hope your new mic pleases you Glad to know I’m not the only one who just doesn’t get the Sanderson hype Happy holidays xx
"Merre". Gideon was a fun read (3.5 stars), Harrow (0 stars). Sanderson's humor isn't great. Heavenly Bodies: nice. Maeve Fly was great, but just so you know I didn't like American Rapture. Enjoy the holidays. 🎄🎅🎁💝
@@Tetsujin-28 Thankyou! What’s the bet I still mispronounce it 0 stars!!! Oof Happy holidays!!
the Serviceberry sounds marvellous
It was a lovely lil read
Hope u r having a great Christmas Day!⚛❤
You too darling!🎄
I love the length of this video, really excellent video here!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I just got back from family Christmas day dinner and drinks and didn't think it could get any better than the new Wallace and Gromit movie on BBC1, then I come home to see a 2 hour chanel vid how delightful. Merry Christmas hope you had a smashing one!
Hahaha you charmer Happy holidays x
🩷🤍 Thank you for introducing me to A Short Stay in Hell and The Tinker's Daughter this year I loved those books!
I am so glad you enjoyed them!
Thank u, Chanel, for sharing your breakout, lit-rich year with us !
You are very welcome!
I didn't realize Poor Things was a book, I enjoyed the movie in the sense that it was gorgeous but I felt uncomfortable most of the time and yet I couldn't stop watching to see where things ended up. But anyways, it's been fun watching this and recognizing most of the books on the list. :) I'm excited to see what you'll read next year, and maybe I'll get around to reading what you read here and there lol I hope you find more enjoyable horror reads next year too.
I felt the same way about the film And hopefully!
A Short Stay in Hell: That was a fun read. The Salt Grows Heavy: I wanted to switch to the audiobook, but Sp0t*fy wanted an additional fee . Still had a great time with it. Twisting yourself into a pretzel to say "DUNE" out loud was a treat. CATNAPPED. The best book I read this year was I Who Have Never Known Men (Jacqueline Harpman). Audiobook: Strange Sally Diamond (Liz Nugent) was a magnificent/deeeeeeeply disturbing read. Worst: Annie Bot. Minus 4 stars. Enjoy the holidays. Love the channel.
Oh no! Bloody money hungry app Hahaha goddamn Dune and the author Muir tripped me up something chronic this year Oh I love I who have never known men! I also hated Annie bot
Sounds like it was a nice reading year 😊 Merry Christmas for tomorrow 🎄
@@SageroseVin merry Christmas to you too x

not sure if I mentioned it, your question about my favourite book this year. Its a biography called 'Erotic Vagrancy - Everything About Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor' by Roger Lewis. No lie, I have never enjoyed a biography more in my life, and biographies are central to my reading the last few years. Its not just the subject matter, it is that the book itself is such a brilliant innovation in the very idea of biography, and is stylistically original and truly absorbing. Its great on every level, as an insight into two cultural icons, of social and historical history, but a great piece of literature too. If you ever get a copy at your library put your name down for it
I’ll have to check if they have it - iconic couple
wow a short stay in hell, the idea sounds so good
I am so glad your reaction to Edward Tulane made me read it. I will never forget a certain scene and illustration from it. I want to say its beautiful, it is, but its got a tragic vision too. Please do write the fictional story about Bryce, at least a few paragraphs of what his fate is that you wish for. I'd like to be at peace with him too.
I’ve given him the love and safety he deserved because his story was too upsetting to leave it that way
I don't understand them getting that crazy over having phones out...wowza. It looks like you guys had some fun. The books sound interesting. I was in the room watching the whole process when my sister had her baby. I said then, no way am I having kids and two years later I had my first....LOL Being a Midwife could have been super rewarding but super sad at times also. I don't think could have been emotionally able to do that either. Thank you for sharing darling. 💜
Giving birth is brutal ngl - women are truly amazing
YEAH MINNA! Might be my favorite character this year? Come to think of it I did see the Lynch Dune film in the 80's, then read the book in the 90's though it took me my 3rd try to get through the start. A Short Stay in Hell was the recommendation I took from you when we first started communicating and damn what a book. I obeyed your request that I don't buy you a book but really the only thing that stopped me was that I could not decide what you might like on your Amazon list. I like this tag, and of course you delivered it well, but I already made up my mind I'm just doing a top ten list in a few days. There is another end of year tag which I did not care for. I had a great year as a reader and booktuber, and started watching a lot of booktubers but you indeed took 1st place as my favorite. I'm glad I found your channel. Enjoy your holidays, Star Queen.
Aw number one spot? I’m honored Montie And I am looking forward to your top 10!
Your channel is awesome
Thanks so much!
The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty books by Anne Rice (or anything by Anne Rice) would be my suggestion for next year.
Thanks for the rec! I’ve read interview with a vampire but didn’t love the child vampire situation
The places you went to looked so magical, literally so vibrant with life. I especially loved the shot with the animatronic birds. So festive and pretty. :)
It’s my favourite time of year to be in the city
The coincidence of meeting Ivan at the shop! That is German that you were reading out loud :) These books don't sound like ones for me but glad to hear your thoughts on them.
Definitely kismet
Brunettes with glasses are very sexy hope u wear them on camera more often didn’t know u were a mom but admire u for for it fewer and fewer people even women r willing to become parents which is probably bad for the world. I do recall in college health class one day in the early seventies we were shown a very graphic film of childbirth without forewarning which stunned us all into silence and made me appreciate women who make this choice even more. Be well. ⚛❤
That's it: I'm moving to Melbourne! (Beautiful reading of that quote, Chanel !)
Melbourne really does have a magic to it
I loved this video. I always wanted to purchase a blind date with a book and might treat myself for the holiday season
That’s a brilliant idea! Treat yo self!
It sounds like nghi vo is a great author and I have the first book in that cycle on my tbr so I need to hurry up and get to it. I work for the publishing house that published James and I agree we were robbed 😅 even though I am biased. Glad to hear the fire borneblade was such a good read.
I still can’t believe orbital won…
Ahh I am so late to this video because I am behind on booktube with the holidays happening, but happy belated birthday and I hope you had a wonderful time!! Also, I love that you got nightmare before christmas plates. The sunyi dean sounds good to me, I am going to check that one out. I also love a good novella.

Was that ex hubby or ex BF pushing you on the swing? 1:37 "I like this cover" then "Oh f$cking stunning!" made me giggle. I want to read Teller of Small Fortunes too but it's in a far away place with my Pile of Possibilities. Great footage of the city.

Your voice alone makes my blood rush. Beauty, brains, and books, is this Eden?
Appreciate the compliment
I appreciate reading the quotes out loud, I rarely actually watch videos and mostly just listen. I've been wanting to check out Rachel Cusk, I think she's on my austrailian author list.
I hope her style works for you
oh Melbourne looks so nice by the river I am smitten
It certainly has its charm
