As a child and living in the back woods the roads were dirt and as is the case they would eventually turn to a wash board. Since my brother and I had to entertain ourselves it was a treat to watch the grader when it was time to level out the wash boards. Even now I am reminded of those times of smelling diesel exhaust and watching how the operator was skilled in making a dirt road even and like new. I think this may have had an influence of my career choice once I had to decide what I may want to do in life for work. Eventually I became a construction equipment mechanic through my attending a Job Corps center in Clearfield Utah and the men who were our instructors were not only top notch operators but also taught us how to repair the old equipment that we had to use. That experience then lead to a career in the military and attended what was known at the time as "Engineer Equipment Mechanic" school at Fort Belvoir. Those experiences and schooling helped me to finalize my military career after twenty six years in the same field as a "Engineer Equipment Technician". This man and his skills hopefully will be used in a manner that will help so many others in his field.
