I see u take front fenders off also. Or did u tear them off?😂
Yes I take my front fenders off when I pull shoulders or do dirt work otherwise yes you end up tearing them off so just easy to take them off quick. Thanks for watching
Would you normal mow the shoulders first to eliminate to much shoulder growth and lumping up ( just asking ) from Canada !
I thought about mowing and I would of if I didn’t have the tiller but since I had the tiller to pulverize and mix all the material I figured I could get buy with out mowing it and it worked really good. Thanks for watching!
Top of the Day to Ya Sir!! I like the way You take the time to explain what You're doing . Ya sure make it look purty !! keep up the Good Work Graderman !! i enjoy as always , Thank You !! Take Care
You need better cameras to see the depth. Go pro fish eye lens dosnt show much but a flat road. Cant see what the road crown and shoulders are sloped at.
I appreciate the feedback I’m still growing the channel and all I have is a GoPro camera I’m also no where near a videographer I’m a grader operator I will try and do better thanks for watching!
"Night time? Never heard of it..." The CAT 150 with those LED.
I was doing motor grader training during the day so had to prep a couple of roads for dust control and it got dark on me so nice to have good lights.
@@graderman140m Absolutely! Definitely takes a lot of the guesswork out of it when you have good and proper illumination. Even better when your light package is strong enough to turn night into day for you!
Nice job and nice grader. I use to run an older Cat12G but I never been as good of operator as you.
Thank you and thanks it’s a very nice grader just got it in February this is my 18th year of operating a grader really enjoy it thanks for watching!
What speed/gear do you do the layout/crown build?
I normally go around 2 to 4 mph generally go slower at first to get crown established then I can go a bit faster just takes time. Thanks for watching!
Fine job! Sometimes I wish I had stayed in the county road department and worked the few gravel roads we had. Always satisfying after completing the job, eh?
Thank you and I can believe that I really enjoy working out in the country and yes very satisfying seeing a road come together thanks for watching!
The way you maintain a road makes sooo much sense. It’s seems cost effective in the long run. Too bad our local DOT don’t see things this way.
I’m happy that you think that I’ve found doing it this way you keep your road way shape and roads preform so much better thanks for watching!
You need to come and train our township board and operators!!
What area are you located in? I do motor grader training for the local LTAP program here in South Dakota
Central Minnesota..Stearns county...I've showed the township supervisors your videos. They can't even operate the reclaimer right. They leave a 2 to 3 inch lip along the road. No common sense.
Looks very good and I wish I had some of the equipment and help that you have. I am alone at my county shed and the grader I use is pretty new and decent but the rest of my equipment is not particularly good at doing the tasks I need to do. I wish I had a lift group on the back and that packer though. Thanks for the video.
Thank you and I’m normally by myself for everything but I have extra help when I pull shoulders I have a a guy in the tractor and a guy driving water truck really makes pulling shoulders so much better your welcome I enjoy posting the videos thanks for watching!
Looking real good like that new machine what kind of cutting edges are you using on that right now hope you having a great day thank you for the video 🚜🇺🇸
Thanks Jim yes I really like the new machine got 250 hours on it so far and I’m using the sharq edges on this machine there a solid steel edge I use them when I pull shoulders and your welcome for the video thanks for watching!
You sure make it look easy! It takes a lot of seat time to get to that level of skill. Very impressive. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks I’ve been told that before and yes it suer does take a lot of seat time to be able to do projects like this I’m on my 18th year of operating so got a few hours in the seat your welcome thanks for watching!
Hey, looking good so how would you do a super elevated road surface either to the right or left?
True master grader driver.
Thanks and I thank you for watching!
@@graderman140m I wish you could show the local grader drivers what to do here. They just throw the loose stone over the bank and not mix it with dirt again.
Thanks for sharing. Im running a 120 with the new cab and screen here in Spain and I am curious why Cat doesn't want to update it in the bigger models
Maybe it’s because they are having a lot of trouble with the 150 awd. We have two and a third on its way. If the third one is going to be a lemon we will be forced to go to deer. First one we got two years ago we had turbo failure along with a dead hole at 1200hrs and now at 3300 hrs they are replacing injectors. The second one we have has 500 hours on it and it has two separate wiring harnesses fail so it just got loaded up and went in for repair as they need to pull motor and transmission to replace wiring harness!!!! And now maybe things wouldn’t hurt so bad if customer service was good but it’s a joke up here in Saskatchewan
We have been told that the new cab is 2 years away
Do you do any maintenance to your saddle pin mine is wanting to stick I move it every day
I take an Emory cloth clean my pin holes up then spray the spray on graphite I use on the circle and sliding moldboard in the pin holes to keep them from rusting and keep them moving freely.
I'm running them too so much nicer than 7 & 8 footers
Love all your helpful advice I'm putting one on in the morning l have a new to me route that's been neglected. Trying to fix it thanks again.
That's what's up
Awesome
Perfect. So when you get done fixing at the end of the day. You can grade roads all nite
Very nice 👍🏻
Will this process work on recycled asphalt crushed material?
All you need now is a packer coming behind you to make that road drivable, or it just turns to ruts.
Do you use lock washers behind the nuts?
No I don’t just use the nuts have never had an issue with them losing up either
@@graderman140m sounds good my old 14d had them when I changed edges last year I took them out and just used nuts then washers was wearing into the back of the frog. Thanks for the reply! 👍
@@opictia I have seen them used if the frog has been worn in to the bolt holes before if it’s not worn really no need for them and your welcome thanks for watching!
@@graderman140m gotcha thanks for the help!
So our township always leaves a 2-3 inch lip on the edge of the road. Completely defeating the purpose of reclaiming. They just run it on the edge of the grass using a tractor mounted retriever on the 3 point
Ive got a mile dirt road and a champion 710a, with your graders fast controls im envious but not when you have a break down! Thanks for the videos
Is this a true story ??
It’s a windrow.
Little late to the party, but I appreciate the education you’ve provided for this unit sir. Just started my journey with this model motor grader.
Those townships are sure blessed to have you maintaining roads for safe travel! You do an awesome job my friend! 👍
You always have such nice looking roads when your done! How fast are you actually going when you do this?
Thanks I appreciate hearing that and I generally go 3 to 5.5 mph speed really depends on conditions. Thanks for watching!
Shine them shoulders .I am a new blade hand in our county and learing more each day, I have been blading behind a man that has been blading for 30 and learing from you and your videos
That’s good to hear your learning every day always have the drive to keep learn I’ve been operating a blade for 18 years and learn something every day got to have an open mind good luck and feel free to ask any questions thanks for watching!

Do you offer this training yourself? I have watched your work and folliw your advice. Your roads are awesome. The roads I have to deal with in my township are poor. Have not had nww gravel put on for atleast 13 years. How am I supposed to grade nothing? I am sometimes digging up roadbed rocks. I can't crown anything. Got a ton of secondary ditches. I just started here doing this job and it seems to be a losing battle.
I do offer training myself where about are you located at? That definitely does sound like a battle but it definitely can be changed with a lot of work if you like send me an email @ graderman140m@gmail.com thanks for watching!
Do u have a video of the tiller
I will have video of the tiller in action in a couple of weeks here it’s a 7ft king cuter tiller.
Now you graderman 150
Another fine job!
Thank you thanks for watching!
We don’t have roads like this where I’m from so my question is do you worry about those organics contaminating the gravel to much? All the grass topsoil etc… thanks
So I don’t worry about the organic material contaminating the gravel in lot of the grass will blow away and the little topsoil will kinda glue the gravel back together it’s not as good as clay but it works so that’s my thoughts on it thanks for the question and thanks for watching!
Notice much different between the new Grader and the old ones ??? ( From Canada )
There’s not a huge difference between my old 140m3 and this new 150 love having the new machine to operate.
Love your technique
Happy to hear that thanks for watching!
Nice work Thank you for taking us along
You’re welcome I thanks for watching!
So you like to articulate instead of pulling your saddle pin then? Looks better than putting your windrow between your tandems. Or are there still situations where you’d rather pull the pin and board out to pick up shoulders?
In this situation I’d rather articulate do to I’m still up on the road and I don’t have really steep ditches. If I’m doing a complete shoulder pull and the ditches are steep and I can’t put my machine in the ditch that’s when I pull saddle pin and do it that way hope this explains it better thanks for watching!
is it okay to mix that much topsoil into the gravel? Looks like a gravel road turned into a dirt road and in my experience topsoil rutz up, sticks to tires, no traction slipping, and makes a mess in wet conditions. Has anyone ever complained to you about that? wouldn’t it make more sense to pull your gravel, work subgrade, then relay gravel overtop? More work but maybe prevents someone’s bitchin or asking for new material hauled in. What are ur thoughts?
I get asked this a lot and generally reason I’m pulling shoulders in is road has poor gravel on it and is dusted out so I’m looking to get some dirt clay to lock the poor material together it definitely gets sloppy and a big mess first couple of rains but eventually it will come out of it and sometimes might not have to put any new material on it. I don’t really worry about people complaining and bitching they do it no matter what I’m lucky enough to have supervisors that understand this process and they explain it to the people that it’s a process and have to make a big mess before it gets better hope this helps thanks for watching!
@@graderman140m I hear ya, thanks for the feedback! you really have a great way of explaining things
Very nice action shots! The cleanliness of that edge is astonishing. 3:46
Thanks I appreciate that and thanks for watching!
Nice edges!
Thanks when I first took over this township there was 5 to 6 inches of curb on each side I’ve used the shoulder disc on it last 4 years and finally getting them to where there supposed to be thanks for watching!
What did your old grader bring in the sealed bids?
We never got any bids on the old machine so we traded it in it went to our local butler cat dealer in Sioux Falls.
@@graderman140m I should of put in a $100 bid! Damnt. Ha
@@cruch9 lol yeah no kidding unfortunately don’t think they would of accepted that if I remember right we got 215,000 for our old machine on trade
Looking good buddy. Man is that some big open sky. Beautiful! Don’t see that in western Pennsylvania for sure!
Thanks I appreciate that, yes it suer is I feel very fortunate to live and work where I do. Thanks for watching!
Thank you
You’re welcome thanks for watching!
