idk katara only ever showed interest in zuko out of pity. Where as she's interested in Aang immediately. Plus like Aang's the Avatar who's gonna go with some brooding sad boy over the most powerful bender ever.

ive never had a massive problem with katanga like most zutara fans do, even tho im a massive zutara fan, cuz i genuinely thing their cute, but when u pull up the parallels and their growth, in comparison to kataang it will ALWAYS fall short. There is nothing more perfect, or beutifully imperfect in a yin and yang relationships. opposites that complement yet understand and have been through similar experiences, making their bond even stronger. kataang fans can get as mad as they want because only ppl who know they are wrong have such visceral and strongly negative reactions/defences. zutara fans are always way nicer and chiller than kataang fans imo who are are so unnecessarily mean and vicious. its ok that not everyone shares the same opinion as you

Probably the best scene showing how Zuko is the better match is how he talks to Aang in The Southern Raiders. Z: "She needs this Aang. This is about getting justice and closure." A: "The monks used to say that revenge is like a two headed rat viper; as you watch your enemy go down you're being poisoned yourself." Z: "That's cute. But this isn't Air Temple preschool. This is the real world." Zuko & Katara hold the most pain from their pasts if any characters in the show, so it makes sense for them to form a bond. I really didn't like when Aang told Katara he understood: "You're feeling uncontrollable pain and rage; how do you think I felt about the Sandbenders when they took Appa? Or the Fire Nation after I found out what happened to my people?" Yeah not your strongest argument there. Sure, he was angry enough to enter the Avatar State both times, but he was easily brought out of it with a Hug. 😑 when Sokka agrees with Aang about how Katara wants revenge and she tells him he didn't love their mother like she did, we have to keep in mind that Katara actually SAW her mother seconds after she was killed while Sokka found out AFTER the Raiders left. She was younger too so the trauma took a stronger hold. Zuko also reaches out to her after joining the group "I do care what she thinks of me." He reaches out to her when they're in Ba Sing Se too "I'm sorry. That's something we have in common." I don't hate the writers for not putting them together we still got an incredible experience from the show, there's just little things that could've been tweaked. 😊

I feel like it would be super impactful and meaningful if the show ended with Aang looking up at the sky with his staff just like in the intro. That would leave the message that not all heroes gain everything after saving the world, while Zuko and Katara partnering up would be very symbolic to the recreations of peace and unity for the four nations. It would be a great way to end the show in my opinion.

To be honest, I am so relieved to know that it’s not only me who saw the same😮‍💨 From the moment when I saw an episode them having a connection in Ba Sing Se this thought didn’t let me go…why not Zuko and Katara? Thank you so much for this wonderful video! Katara does deserve to have a strong man like Zuko. Kenneth Branagh as the director is the main reason why this movie was a visual masterpiece. Looking at his background where he's a huge Shakespeare geek (probably more than anyone else in the industry), it's miracle that Disney got the right director to make this beautiful fairy tale because this movie feels like as if Shakespeare and Jane Austen had a baby and that's a huge compliment i can give

Actually legend of korra was a mini series due to having 12 episodes in the season 1. Season 1 was going to first and last that why korra got her power at the end of season 1 because they wasn't going to be a season 2 but they change they mind. And asami WAS originally going be a spy but they change it.

I hate that the build up for their relationship was there and it would have been so easy and natural if they would end up together. It's exactly as you say, the girl is always the prize in the end, a mother, a partner, a lover, just there to support the hero...

Zuko understands Katara better on a fundamental level. When she bloodbent the sh*t out of that fire nation guy, he was surprised but respected her decision. When she spared the other guy's life, he also respected it, even though in his eyes revenge was what made sense. Truly one of a most important things in a relationship is to respect your partners autonomy, and Zuko would have been a better fit...

I absolutely loved the series as a whole, I always disliked Aang and Katara kissing being the final scene though, that's an ending for a love story, and Aang's story is a lot more than that. Edit: after watching the whole video, I'm even more convinced that Katara should have not ended up with Aang, Zutara makes more sense on every level.

Little late but from what I heard,(I don't remember the source) Katara and Zuko were originally going to get together hence all those moments (the necklace scene, protecting from pirates) people bring up in season 1, but Mike and Brian wrote themselves in a corner by the time Zuko joins the gaang we have less than 10 episodes for Aang and Katara to let go, Katara to forgive Zuko and fall in love. It would have been insanely rushed if they were given even 5 more episodes to flush this out it might have worked but I don't think Nickelodeon execs would have ponied up the money to make them.

I am intrigued by your recommendations. I will say that while Korra is interesting..it’s not exactly great. But your ideas on paper seem to make the show much more engaging at at the very least more compatible with realistic politics rather than whitewashed American liberal perspective clearly espoused during the show (seriously I have to wonder if Bryke actually understand ideologies). Here are some ideas that could be added on: 1)Make Amon a complete mystery. Amon scared the living bejeeves out of me and so many others. Like you I thought he was a new anti-bender. And you’re right that making him the final villain would be so enticing. But what if we never get to see who Amon is? The reason Amon dressed up the way he did was to become a symbol. Amin correctly deduced that if he was a man, he would be seen as fallible, open to attacks form within his own group, so what if he kept that up to the end? Throughout this hypothetical show, we, as you said, get glimpses of Amon planning, but what if the show gave us hints as to who he was? Like as you said Amon in this version has intel from Asami but what if he had other means? What if he was perhaps a politician who worked in city hall? Or perhaps a police chief? What if Amon is never outright said to be a man, but rather “it.” This means that anyone could be Amon which is the whole point of his goal: that any nonbender oppressed can rise up, and that one man/woman isn’t enough. Think of him as V from V for Vendetta the comic. We get hints but never confirmation to his real identity which the comic stresses isn’t important nor does V care. Korra now has to fight someone who is not only ideologically opposed to the bending world, but also her very status as the avatar. The avatar is always a public figure, can rarely get alone time, and is always called to defend the status quo. Amon isn’t that. Plus, academically , critics praised korra especially in season 4 for delving into feminist perspectives/non-heteronormative lenses (I don’t think the show did that but that’s my opinion). Amon being a genderless figure but who used a masculine voice could be a fascinating topic to discuss. 2)Amon’s political backstory. As stated before, it makes sense if Amon was in positions of power to accurately monitor the developments around the world. Throughout the series we are introduced to numerous political operatives both informal and formal. In canon we met so many of these individuals. So the show asks us: WHICH one was Amon? But I’d disagree Amon has a “evil dark lord ultra plan” in which he planned everything.those stories raise too many questions, make the villain a godlike intellectual, and aren’t exactly in line with real politics. I would suggest that Amon is simply adjusting to the situations developing in the world. He has a goal, was planning it for years, and is flexible enough. The writers really need to ignore Europe ww2 as a model and focus more on the boxer rebellion/Chinese civil war for Amon’s rise to power. 3)asami. I love the idea of her being a spy. And yes she should fall in love with korra and get a redemption story. I cannot get out of my head your story of Asami providing psychological reports to her father, mother (yes she is alive, we don’t need dead parents again) and Amon on the heroes. This explains why asami is so friendly to the gang and why she tags along even when she dosnt really provide much to the team. She has moments in which the animation could show “there’s more here,” like a brief flash of anger/annoyance/ or rather questionable intrigue. Like girl, why do you care what korra is feeling in this moment? And then for the redemption , we get brief facial movement which indicates doubt, surprise and genuine respect/admiration for the gang specifically korra. Perhaps we get cutaway scenes where Asami is discussing with her parents that the avatar IS more friendly than she expected, that perhaps the parties can find common ground,…only for the parents to say “No.” these scenes only show PARTS OF THE ARGUMENTS so we the audience assume Asami was not involved in any scheme. A classic misdirection. Perhaps Amon noticed that asami is spending WAY more time with korra, and picks up on some things. He/She asks asami “I know that you have strong feelings for the avatar (gotta keep the censors per nick), but let us talk..these feelings will disrupt your mission to help save us. Do you think Korra will ever usher the utopia? Will she forgive you?”

I respect Zutara shippers, but I think Kataang is a more mature ship. I know, it sounds weird, but let me explain. Maturity: just because Katara and Zuko are on the older side of the group (other than Sokka) but, they both showed a bunch of immaturity. When Katara lost her mother, she always blamed the fire nation, she held a grudge for Zuko, until the episode “The southern raiders”. When Aang found out that his nation was wiped out, yes, he was sad. He also had a huge responsibility of being the avatar, all while being 12 years old. But you know what, he chose to be happy, he never blamed or held a grudge for the fire nation like Katara did. Zuko also threw a bunch of temper tantrums throughout the show, he leaves those he loves to go back to the fire nation, sure he makes up for it at the end, but he also throws those tantrums while on team avatar. Romance: Katara and Zuko never really had a crush on each other. Zuko gives gifts and cuddles with whoever it is, Katara makes hats for whoever it is, she gets all blushy and stuff. We’ve seen Katara and Zuko during ember island players, once that romantic scene happens, they get uncomfortable, and move away. And even before that part in the play, look how far away they’re sitting compared to Sokka and Suki. If they liked each other, they would sit closer. Honorable mention: Katara has gave Aang kisses, whether it’s on the cheek or mouth. Ya’ll can ship Zutara, this is in my opinion.

you explained it perfectly but i do think some parts can stay the same and just a different ending. maybe just a a bit of a longer series or a mini series catching up to the state of the world etc. katara and sokka would've still been in the crowd looking for their dad to see zuko and Aang. but in the extras eventually mai should've told him, mai: "idk how to deal with myself, i can't deal with you even though you've changed" mai: "i think it's best if we broke up and don't see each other for a little while, just a few months" zuko: "i understand that but please if you need me i'll be there" ⬇️

How do people claim to love the show if they hate aang this much 😂 I get not shipping them since katara was being weird by saying she’s confused and falling for multiple boys before aang. Aang deserved better
