I know the most common sentence I've heard when seeing video reviews of this movie:
"I thought I was going to hate Perrito as the annoying comic-relief, but I ended up loving him instead!"

Man, they literally rewrote the figure of the comic sidekick! I dare anyone showing such class in any Disney/Pixar movie so far. The sidekick becoming the most tragic character and the cast's life coach. These people really, really worked hard on this project and I hope they'll keeo doing such excellent job

Hats off to the writers, it was an extremely compelling story. Hell, you could strip out the movie and tell this in front of a campfire and it still would be good. The cartoonish almost story board animation style, I liked it, it was different from all the other cookie cutter animations. With all the character arcs it could have gotten confusing, but the writers made it work, hats off to them, again. Finally, telling a story that could be told today, 500 years ago, or 100 years from now, and people would get it. THAT IS STORY TELLING AT ITS FINEST.

One point I never saw someone talking about is unpredictability. When you build a villain, you make him strong (often stronger than protagonist) and Death is shown as one, unpredictability of actions and unability to read his mind are some of key factors that make people fear this villain.

Really good point, Death was really hard to put into a box. At first we might have thought he was just a fan of Puss, with something off about him. Then we thought that he was a bounty hunter who effortlessly defeated Puss, but he kept appearing and not catching Puss for some reason. And then we finally where told that he was actual Death, but while we did hear about his motives, we didn't really know that Puss had a way to escape him besides the wishing star. Really good character even though he had very little screen time

One thing I think is really cool is how both Jack Horner and Death balance each other out. Jack Horner doesn't drive the themes of the movie. He mostly acts as an obstacle, so without Death driving the themes, the movie wouldn't feel like it worked. It wouldn't have any real emotional stakes. Jack Horner would have been funny, but that wouldn't have helped the story. On the other hand, if Death was the only antagonist, his impact would be weakened. If Jack was not in the movie, the majority of the bad guy content would have to be from Death, so either the movie gets much shorter or the pacing dies, or both.

My hope is that people use the success from this movie to springboard us away from all the tired old propaganda-filled media we've been getting from the big dogs in Hollywood

Well done analysis. I appreciated the metaphor of the cat lady, safety at the cost of a life well lived. Also, more importantly was Puss' relationship with death.

Cool! Thanks! IMO this movie was created with a lot of heart, art, craft and care in every respect. And the attention to detail is astonishing. I've seen it 5 times and am going for a 6th before it leaves theatres.

This movie will make kids laugh and adults cry.
There's so much packed in this movie that is so relatable to those who have lived a little, know hurt, love, loss, betrayal, and the knowledge that with each passing day the inevitability of death draws ever closer.
The visuals are stunning but the story is absolutely next level. I love how they took the formula and turned it on its head. Most animated films, or CGI heavy films will use a story as a hook and the visuals as a retention tool. Here, we have visuals that hook and the story that keeps eye balls glued and brain engaged. Most movies want you to shut your brain off and just enjoy the visuals, the action, the explosion, and forget about the often shitty writing and character development. TLW fully invests you in the story and the as soon as the you hear the whistle for the first time. It engages your brain and keeps it engaged right up until the credits roll. Each character is rich with development. Looking at it as a retrospective, this feels more like a labor of love than a commercial product. I know very little about anyone who worked on the film, including the actors, but damnit I know they poured all they had into it because something like this doesn't just come about out of random chance or mediocrity, which is sadly the norm these days. This is an absolute dunk on everything else that Hollywood tries to push off the assembly line, as it were. Nothing about this film is cookie cutter, nothing is rinse-repeat, nothing is reused, they didn't try to take something that worked before and rework it for (drinker voice) MODERN AUDIENCE (/drinker voice). Every once in a while DreamWorks releases something that is timeless. They did it with HTTYD in 2010 and they did it again in 2022 with Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
11/10. Will watch again... And again. And again.

Love that RUclips is recommending me more smaller channels has this is a good review and good editing. My only thing to up your video quality is to talk a bit less monotone. Other than that it’s a good well made video

I actually like the relaxed voice. I often just turn off a video, especially if I can't see the person peaking, if the voiceover is hyped up or is in some sort of character. I think he struck a good balance with a calm voice tearing into the data and analytics. That's just my opinion though.
