Based on watching the entire Tash vs Tec call. I think Tashed just straight up doesn’t like Tec as a person and he wanted to “test” him to confirm his feelings. I think Tectone liked Mtashed a lot but was starting to realize that Mtashed didn’t like him but he was in denial about it until Mtashed went to the extreme and Tectone realized Mtashed true feelings.

It does feel like Mtashed was trying to dissociate from Tectone while keeping the general opinion on his side. He used Tectone's argument with Hex for that purpose, and when she did not go along and refused to be used against her friend he turned against her too. To be honest I saw that coming a long time ago when Mtashed was criticising Tectone for the smallest things, it's just a shame Hex had to be brough up in this.
