I had a TRDSport and did some testing as well. First I verified the dash MPG numbers were dead nuts on compared to doing it manually. I had 3200 miles on when I traded it for the TRDPro. Did a few long road trips and local driving and here is what mind got using 93 octane. 24 at 80, 26 at 70. 28-29 at 60. I am sure it would break 30 if I could drive at 60 long enough without red lights. The Pro, not so good even with the Hybrid system. Generally would get 4-5 MPG less when driven the same way. The later tires and lift really eats gas, but is a fantastic truck. My 2016 TRDSport can get 24-26 MPG on road trip without cruise control. Oddly with cruise the MPG nose dives like crazy.

Great video! Question... If I swap my 2024 Limited chrome grill with a regular stock TRD honeycomb grill, will I be able to remount my front camera without having to purchase a Rave bracket? Being that I'm just going from stock to stock?

I did a cursory search for a installer in Socal and their website does not offer that particular tune option yet for the 4th Gen Tacoma? Does it take a while to roll the code out?

Is the handle on the tailgate not operable for opening or closing it?

I think they were conservative when they designed the hybrid system. A 100+ HP motor would've been fun and hilarious, but without an electric axle, that's 100 HP of instant power through the drivetrain etc. etc., plus more power would probably require going to LiOn batteries. Anyway. I get why they did it and it does its job. Do I still want a 500 hp hybrid truck that gets 100 mpg? Yes. lol.

The new Tacoma is a massive disappointment. The truck is a delicate flower and not made for dependable off-road use.

I wonder if this will affect the longevity of the engine.

Definitely don't get this with 275/70/18. Since upgrading to bigger tires and wheels, I'm only getting 17.2 mpg's and only 262 miles on a full tank of gas. OEM tires and wheels (265/70/17) I was still only getting 18.6 mpg's and 301 miles on a full tank. How you're getting 27 mpg's with the same year Tacoma as me. I have no idea? 🤔

Any thoughts from OTT on doing the increased output on the 6 speed? From the said they detuned it to handle the drivetrain shock... But if you're not whaling on it, could that output be acceptable when purely accelerating in gear?

People used to be able to do that without computer assistance. Locking rear diff? Low range? Decent tires? Good throttle modulation? Basic knowledge of off-road dirving techniques? Yes, yes, yes, yes, and yes. That is all you need. Way too much tech these days.

Do 1/4 mile runs. My stock 2024 Tacoma ran 15.84 @ 87 MPH at the dragstrip.

That is just an opinion, there are many other influencers who claim that the TRD PRO has much more power. So I think that everyone will know which one they like only if they try it.

Should have changed it at 1000. No way anyone with a brain would say that it’s not hurting anything when you’re literally flowing Liquid Metal through the engine.

New to the channel. Do you have any other mods? I saw that an exhaust and down pipes really helps too.
