    All new cars should come with usb port by the rear view camera so people can easily install dash cam.

    I am surprised with the premium package you got, you didn't go ahead and get the integrated Toyota dash cam. That is the one I have and so far its been fun. Its more bulky than that one, but they lined it up along side that plastic part behind the mirror. Big easy to see buttons on it. Really enjoying your channel.

    Product page states it comes with "vehicle power cables". It does not state that it specifically a USB to USB-A cable with a cigarette lighter adapter nor model of cars it's compatible with. I purchased it for use in rentals cars as I'm a frequent traveler and am in rentals cars for work about 75% of the time. Many new cars I've been in have sole USB-C outlet to which this is not compatible. Another thing the product page leaves out is that you must use their cables (per their techs as to my inoperable camera) nor do they offer a USB-A to USB-C cable for purchase.

      I had a VIOFO in my Tahoe and still have it. If you buy the Toyota Integrated camera there is a plug under the panel with the lights and controls right in front of the mirror. You stick the camera on window, just to left of mirror and run cable under headliner and just plug it in. No adapter and the plug gives you dual power for the parking mode and the driving mode. So easy, 5 minute install. Only tool is plastic pry bar to pull down the light/control panel. So easy was well worth $300.

    Hi! I took your advice and added this to my 2024 Tacoma. I have the ‘upgrade package’ that has an auto dimming mirror and it requires the same 10 pin adapter. 2 questions.
    1) how do you manage the app fighting with Toyota app/ CarPlay. I found I have to disconnect my phone from CarPlay in the multimedia settings and the Toyota app keeps fighting to gain WiFi connection so the camera disconnects. Any tips?
    2) Have you found a way to dim the two lights? That camera placement puts the two lights so bright in my field of view at night. During the day it’s not an issue. Any tips on this?
    Thanks,
    Taco Dave

    • @MuscleAmerican
      @MuscleAmerican  2 месяца назад

      @@TacoDave2024 Hi Dave, I only connect to the camera when I want to view a video which isn’t very often so it doesn’t interfere with CarPlay. And no, unfortunately I don’t think there is a way to dim the lights.

    Wish I had seen your video before I broke the cover mount trying to take the cover off the way Dongar shows in their video. Anyway- have you had any issues with the Toyota carplay wifi overpowering the garmin wifi connection, and not allowing your iphone to connect to the garmin camera?

    Any reason you went with the 10 pin vs the 5 pin where you connect to the factory dashcam wiring?

    • @MuscleAmerican

      The 5 pin is specifically designed for vehicles with Toyota's optional dash cam 5-pin harness in the dome-light / roof cavity and is NOT installed through your rearview mirror.
