Schmitt - Mirages, Op. 70 [Orchestral transcription] (Mercier)
I - A la mémoire de Claude Debussy (00:00)
II - La tragique chevauchée (05:47)
Conductor: Jacques Mercier
Orchestra: Lorraine National Orchestra
Composer: Florent Schmitt
The first of the two Mirages numbers is titled Tristesse de Pan. Dedicated memory of Claude Debussy, the great French Impressionist composer who had died in 1918, it’s a work that is opulent and near-magical in its mood and color. Schmitt does an incredible job evoking in musical terms the themes of Fort’s ballad:
“… Pan leaned on his elbows deep down in the lunar wheat fields. Then, from neighboring woods, the nightingale sings to a beautiful full moon, which, on the rising tills of its voice … it seems to be resting - better...

Sabaneyev - Piano Sonata, Op. 15 "In Memory of Scriabin" (Schäfer)
Просмотров 12 тыс.2 года назад
Sabaneyev, a great friend of Scriabin's and a writer of books about him, is one of the most grandiose, but terrifyingly obscure representatives of the great Russian mystical musical movement. His Sonata is incomparable; taking its cue from Scriabin's passionate and transcendent music, it is dedicated to this giant, a monumental figure of great mystical romanticism. Where Scriabin illuminated th...

Arensky - 6 Piano Pieces, Op. 53 (Neiman)
I love the chaos of this piece
I don't know if it's me or not but I lost interests in the melody but I loved it for a while and maybe I still do but it feels worn
Wow there is so much going on, that after four listening i am starting to hear how the first movement sounds like two beautiful piano at the same time.
This places higher than many of Rachmnaninov compositions and for sure on equal footing. I am surprised there is so little interest in Medtner given how much reverence R. gets.
1:43:00
stravinskys firebird? 2:28 left hand
🔥🔥🔥BRAVOOOOOOOO UNREAL PLAYING
idk i dont think medtner really succeeded with this one
Medtner is the composer I've never heard of that I wish I knew long ago
fiorentino is just breath taking. close second to me is nikolayeva. I enjoy the different perspective with the slower tempo and even though she doesn't get as loud as Florentino or palvanov her climax has an exhilarating power due to the broader tempo. like an unstoppable tsunami.
From to eternity ❤
29:33 wrong
Such a great comparison of pianists. Another great interpretation is Hamelin's.
yeah, this is beautiful piece.. to me, it sounds like Ballet music or Opera music without lyrics completely and felt the piano part took a role of harpist, some of this pieces are redundant. many times remains other composers' pieces...
It's good. I enjoyed dissociating on my bed while this was playing on my phone, which itself was in my hand.
I can see myself doing that again in the future too. It's really not a bad piece to listen to.
based rzewski
Is the piano still alive ?
“RRRAH” indeed

Neuhaus’s intepertation is stellar
WOW is all I have to say about these performances. There is not a single unremarkable thing in these performances. I will have to listen to more of maestro Neuhaus' performances and recordings. There is nothing but awe to be had at this performance
Egads what a terrible performance! I think I can hear Scriabin rolling over in his grave.
Ronald Smith is certainly not the fastest with Alkan's music but he is the most musical by far, he is an authority on Alkan with his writing detailed books, complete recordings for the listening of the audience (pls see his 1970 shortening of the Op 39 Solo Concerto) etc. Applied to the above, his recording is the best.
Прекрасное исполнение незнакомой мне сонаты. Много еще композиторов, которые незаслуженно были обойдены нашими исполнителями. Возьму себе на заметку.
Love this but the ending is a bit prolix - could probably finish about 10 months early for a more dramatic impact (IMO)
I've re-listened to 1:04 at least ten times today. the harmony is just so satisfying
Prokofiev's mother was a talented amateur pianist and had supported and planned, from the earliest of her son, his career as a musician. They were very close, Prokofiev's father had passed away early. An anecdote that the musician tells in his diary is the quarrel that mother and son had during the period of the "Sarcasms" or so. "I hope you realize what you're playing on our piano!" thundered his mother one day. Prokofiev says that for days they hardly spoke to each other. The mother probably, accustomed to her son's eclecticism, appreciated his more traditionalist vein more!
Beautifully sung, but what’s the point with a score video where the score doesn’t match the singing - incorrectly transcribed I suppose.
Very airy and pretty. Thanks.
I absolutely loved the sus chord arpeggios in the end - long before they were used in progressive rock.
Simply magical !
🎉😊
My dream piece 🙌
Incompetent pianist.
Projecting much i see
The fuck is that shout at the end 💀💀💀
Revolutionary etude!!!!❤❤❤
Played the first and second movement years ago, could not (would not) learn the 3rd movement even though it's my favorite. Great work and performance, Thanks for posting this.

Bortkiewicz is a genius at writing melodies.
Один із улюблених концертів🫶🏻🥹🕊️🇺🇦
Le 1er mouvement est pétillant comme du Champagne et la fin est douce et mélancolique comme une soirée d'automne...
I dream of a time when you go to a commentary on the piano music of a Russian composer of the early 20th century, and no one there expresses original thoughts about scriabinesque.
Um tesouro!

This is one of the best romantic sonatas. It has it all - catchy melodies, lush harmonies, master of craftsmanship and coherent structure.
0:00 I. At a comfortable tempo. Severely-interrogative 2:00 II. Quicklier. Tumultuous-agitated, tumultuous, weary-tumultuous, hurried-tempestuous 3:12 III. Slower. Sustained. Severely-tenebrous-mysterious-sweetest 25:09 X. Less quickly. Mystical, solemn-mysterious-waning, quieting down 29:11 XI. Slow. I like Powell’s recording better tbh
Does anybody know, how his Romantica Sonata quotes this one? I have heard that the Romantica's last movement quotes some melody from this sonata, but where exactly?
