I just gotta add to this that I have the physical books of: 12 Minor Etudes 12 Major Etudes Grande Sonate (Les Quatre Ages) I truly am really a sheetmusic collector somehow lol
Ronald Smith is certainly not the fastest with Alkan's music but he is the most musical by far, he is an authority on Alkan with his writing detailed books, complete recordings for the listening of the audience (pls see his 1970 shortening of the Op 39 Solo Concerto) etc. Applied to the above, his recording is the best.
Are there no human performances of the Etude sans opus in Am. Only one missing. But great vid, I love these all ❤️ edit: saw other comment, thank you 😊
every1 forgets about 1 etude, etude WoO from "Encyclopédie du Pianiste Compositeur" by Pierre-Joseph Guillaume Zimmerman, i forgot another etude that u didn't put in this "Complete Etudes" by Alkan, which is Bourrée d'Auvergne, and also 3 andante romantique
Casually uploads 4 hours and 30 minutes of selected performances and edited scores
and gets comments like ‘you forgot this piece’
"casually" yes... XD
Love how Le Preux is so difficult, the only recording available is home made. Chapeau.
There are other recordings but this is the best one by very far
@@SeigneurReefShark le divina played it live recently tho, but I still think Seong Yang Hwang's interpretation is more musical and laid back
Last year there was a professional live performance of this. its no pleasure to watch, but good performance and great music of course
@@snorefest1621I don’t know, the speed that la divina plays it at makes it so much better for me
Probably the only pianist-composer that made Liszt nervous.
oh yeah mark viner has posted his interpretation of the etude sans opus :D
Ohhh, did I miss it ? Thanks for pointing this out !
Quite the comprehensive selection
Contrapunctus is my favorite in the major set, it's a Bach two part invention in octaves lol.
it is really cool
Thank you for this. I love Alkan’s music.
Chuck Norris used this as a warm-up before recording Sorabji's complete works.
banger
I AM IN PIANO HEAVEN ON EARTH
On a more srs note, I can't thank you ENOUGH for this video :D
I just gotta add to this that I have the physical books of:

Mark Viner reigns supreme for the interpretations on the full set of major etudes Op. 35. Thanks for this!
What a video! Really really good job, thank you!
oh this must have taken a lot of work
prob gonna listen to all of it lmao

doesn't Alkan also have 12 etudes for feet alone and at least one etude for pedalier (piano for hands and feet)?
He does, but it's études for piano here
@@SeigneurReefShark oh okay :) thank you for this btw
@@SeigneurReefShark you also forgot etude sans opus in a minor
@@wilh3lmmusic Please read the other comments before pointing out things that I didn't forget...

I challenge someone to play all of these in 1 sitting, I'm willing to put a 0 dollar bounty on the line.
Excellent music 🎹🎶👏
Shut up
What about etude a minor WoO?
This is missing marche triomphale from Op.27
op27=Le chemin de fer.鉄道 🚃💨
I wonder where etude sans opus is
There isn't any good recording...
@@SeigneurReefShark what about midi 👀
@@trvm1 Why would I upload midis ? They are not doing any justice to composers pieces, music is to be performed by humans
@@SeigneurReefShark oh, well great video anyway

as they are not originally named "etudes" they don't belong to that set
Eventhough I don't doubt that the technical difficulty must be outrageous
@@benjaminravail5028 I guess you're right, but what about 12 for feets only?????
Как можно было поставить concerto for solo piano не Марк Андре Амлена!
based
I prefer mccallum in op 35.
I think both are great, but the recording quality is better with Viner.
My Opinion: Liszt>Chopin>Alkan>Thalberg>Brahms
Bruhms 🤢
