D-800?
Great video and thanks for sharing - sorry but the opening music is hideous.
Thanks for your information
I’m glad you found it helpful!
Great video, Nikon Zf best not only to portraits, but this camera for all photos, Nikon forever ❤️💛💛💛
It is a great camera to own.
aaa
I have just purchased the ZF so need to learn how to use it or more so become familiar with it. I’ve done a few home studio sets taking portraits of my kids with a couple of soft boxes and Nikon speedlights and Nikon SU-800 using my old DSLR. I use some white and black sheets with a couple of light stands and cross bar. The images were very sharp and detailed and found I mostly used f6.3 and up to f7.1 and bumping up the iso to around 400 with good results. Tried the same with my Fuji camera recently and a couple of Godox speedlights too and also worked well. I can’t wait to test out the ZF as I’ve seen so many positive reviews on the sensor been very good and great natural colours. I’m also looking forward to some low light photography as this is my first ever camera with IBIS.
Sounds like you enjoyed some studio work with Zf. I love Godox speedlights.
Hello, I have a Godox X2T trigger (Nikon version) and a flash from the same company, unfortunately my NikonZF doesn't see the X2T and I can't figure it out, could I get some tips on how to configure it, maybe record a vlog on how to do it and configure this trigger. Greetings from Poland, Jarek flash TT685ii
Hi Jarek, I used X2T on Nikon Zf, Z9 and Z6II and it works well on all of them. You probably already checked but make sure you are using the Nikon version of this trigger. Also, does it need to be updated for proper firmware? These just some initial thoughts.
@@TouchLifeStudio Ok, I'll check it again, maybe I'm making a mistake somewhere.. thank you and Merry Christmas, Jarek
How does the eye-focus work for studio flash work.
It works very well. I use overhead lights for general lighting and strobes overpower that.
Great work and nicely done video, explaining your workflow is inspirational! I own a Nikon Zf and a Z8, I love them to bits! Always used Z8 in studio or with lights on location! Never thought of Zf to be capable to get the same results and the job done! 🔝🔝🔝
Nikon Zf produces beautiful results in studio eye AF is great. Strobes overpower overhead lighting so when overhead lights are on it helps Zf to focus.
What is your go-to studio camera?
Great video. What head are you using in the ad200s?
For weddings I use Bare Bulb Flash Head with Godox AD-S2 Standard Reflector
I was shooting with a Nikon D850 previously and switched because of loud shutter sound.
I hear you on the shutter sound. It's great they changed that on the newer models.
我使用NIKON Z8前,是使用olympus OM-1,但使用完Z8後,超級無敵滿意,拍攝台灣熊鷹一年了,不論是拍照或錄影,對焦與追焦,真的棒極了!
Thank you for a very good video, I'm subscribing now, but there is something doesn't match here,... I still have a Nikon D5 and it is 20MP and 14 frames /seconds. In the video you say it is 12MP and 12fps.
Yes, I saw this error after I posted the video, therefore I noted in description about a typo. But thanks for noting that.
The Z9 has an EN-EL 18D battery, not 15, which is used by the smaller Z bodies, such as the Z6 iii and Z8.
Yes, you are correct. That typo was noted in description.
Global shutter will be a different model, not Z 9 line. Z9ii will still be rolling shutter with ultra fast readout speed. The Nikon global shutter model will follow another line.
You could be right. Let’s wait and see.
Regarding overheating … I happen to shoot in fairly hot climates, i.e. plus 30 degree, humidity 70-80% and given this environment, too often my camera shows me „cards are overheating“. Since my hands are warm too, it does contribute to the overheating I suspect. Therefore, NO overheating, depends on the overall conditions.
You know what's an easier solution? just wear a strap
Good one
Finally upgraded from my 5d mk ii to the 5d mki and just picked up the nikon d700 so I'm a few years behind you maybe 3 years not that much but I don't have that kinda cash haha😮 got the 105mm f2.5 none ai, 50mm 1.8 ai 😀 . So
Subscribe 😅
Objectively speaking, 2026-27 is the perfect time.. What can't the Z9 do? Certainly the AF is better in its rivals etc.. I don't the need for a ii now.. A1 ii, R1 can't still match it in video. Releasing one now or next year would be overkill..
- Same sensor, new processor, faster CFex standard, better AF. An incremental upgrade Or... - A side model (Z9S, Z9X, Z9H, I don't know), with the Sony 24mp global shutter sensor, new processor, new CFex standard Or - A revolution, new processor, new CFex standard, new revolutionary home made sensor
I think it would be closer the the 2nd point if yours
When will Nikon incorporate some of the features found on Blackmagic cameras like the built-in large 5" LCD Monitor, XLR Audio Inputs, w/Phantom Power, leave one battery in the camera body, and the grip holds two extras, the grip should also add wireless capabilities along with other features.
You don’t want Blackmagic battery, it dies too fast. But Blackmagic menu is something to entertain. For xlr, I doubt it, that’s why they have Red now.
The Z9 is terrible in low light. Shooting over ISO 6400 is not acceptable for such a flagship camera
I’m sorry but I have to disagree. I’ve taken great shots with high iso, yes may need some post processing but very managebale.
You shot using flash for the ceremony? I got eat up on dpreview years ago when I mentioned I use flash at the ceremony 😂 Good for you!!!
A ton of photographer use flash at ceremonies.
@TouchLifeStudio They make it look in the forums and on RUclips as if it's a cardinal sin. I live in the Caribbean where it's always sunny which means dark in doors when it comes to balancing lights. On top of that most of the couples are black and it's easier to get away with natural light on white skins compared to dark skins, so we have no choice but to use flash.
Respectfully, I watched 4 minutes of this video and you still had not gotten to the point of the video, nor did you seem to be getting there any time soon. If you have a chance, compare your approach to that of Tony Northrop. At 25 seconds into his video on Instant Cameras, he has already managed to explain the topic of the video, hinted that one camera is virtually unusable, showed an actual photograph from one of the cameras and even put up an onscreen graphic with tips for using a particular instant camera. ruclips.net/video/5A2pPLgFVq0/видео.html
Thank you for your feedback. Creating content has its learning curve.
The Nikon Z9II needs to reduce its weight to 1049 grams or 1149 grams. People are amazed by the Z9's heat dissipation performance, mainly because its circuitry is less integrated. A larger body can be used to house different functional modules, while the battery and memory card can be placed separately. So Nikon needs to consider how to optimize the internal space of its flagship camera in order to control the size and weight accordingly. In the world, often making balanced trade-offs is a wise choice.
I understand your point about weight but it could likely reduce the overall functionality of the camera. Sometime by solving one problem we end up creating another. Just a thought, but thanks for sharing your view point.
FG -> D90 -> D7100 -> D750 -> Z6 -> D5 -> Z9. Still have the D90 & D750. Gave the Z6 to my son. Use the D5 & Z9 for my sports photography.
It sounds like you've got a great collection!
nikon+RED=Z9R body with RED logo 😂
Someone else said too!
I think as a flagship it's gonna path the way with new Expeed 8 processor. Also Nikon needs to make higher resolution displays
It would be great to have an EVF similar to A9III.
Absolute beast of a camera. I think the mark II version will offer a global shutter (RED tech, such a smart acquisition!) but I don't think we'll see anything until Fall 2025. All just my hunch of course. That aside, I'm not in any rush as the Z8/9 is still performing beyond my current needs. And I tend to buy a year or so after initial release.
I anticipate we will hear something in the second half of 2025 about the successor of Z9. But I fully agree with you, current Z9 and Z8 meet most of my needs today.
Used both Canon AE1 to Canon R3 and Nikon FM2 to Nikon z9
Wow! You certainly have seen a progression of cameras. Very lucky!
Please consider in your reasoning that the RED sensor is approximately 40x21mm, is not in 3/2 format and is produced in quantities incompatible with a Nikon camera.
Thank you for your thought. That’s where the strength of Nikon mass production will come in. Nikon has resources and manufacturing capabilities that Red did not have.
@@TouchLifeStudio - you mean Sony Semi have the manufacturing resources. Nikon use Sony Semi's existing designs that are then customised to Nikon's specific requirements. Nikon may have more say when in comes to the Z8's partially stack sensor that Sony's imaging division may or may not use that probably depends on the licensing agreement between Sony Semi & Nikon.
Nikon Z9's price dropped for the first time on BH by $500. I believe the successor is arriving much sooner than 2026.
That would be great. Let’s wait and see…
Nikon D5 20.8MP FX-Format CMOS Sensor
Thank you for release dates and price chart. Nikon D3x original price was $7999.95, NOT $5K. I still have it and love it.
You're right! I was off on the price. Thanks for the info. It was $1500 jump from D3.
D5 is 20mpx not 12mpx
Yes this was noted in description.
D2Hs and D2Xs?
Too many cameras, I skipped those.
I am hoping Nikon will make two new Z9's, a global shutter version ($$$ and high base ISO of 250) and a non global shutter version for the rest of us ($5500 again). All I really want is pre-capture in RAW. Longer battery life, the Sony vari-angle screen, and better low light capability would be nice. Wedding photographers would like it to write video to both cards simultaneously like every other camera does. If it has a flippy screen like the Z6iii and Zf it would be ruined.
Great points, Thomas!
The D3 was such an incredible upgrade from the D200/D300 DX cameras. I could shoot full frame again. I never sold my F5 film camera, but I stopped using it when the D3 launched. I got the D4, but never felt the D5 or D6 were worthwhile. I am currently re-visitng those D200 files with my new 5k monitor and they hold up pretty well. My stock agency (wants 5 MB min.) and the magazine I contribute to (wants 10 MB min) don't like the small files from the D200/300 and even D3, but there is nothing wrong with them.
I'm glad you got to experience the full-frame difference with the D3 and D4! I hope you can upsize and download those files, especially with AI of the Adobe LR.
More-so than any sensor change, I believe the biggest value-add features will stem from upgrading to the latest CFexpress standard for increases in write speeds, allowing for offset of camera buffer sizes vs frames per second and higher buffer overrun ceilings.
I think CF express standards will rise as well.
I agree, Nikon need to rid itself of slower XQD interface and sick with CFexpress Type B
@@brentnora8128 - what?! XQD & CFex uses the same physical interface. It IS using CFex B!
Sony manage to have sufficient write speeds with CFex A cards.
No the screen of new sonys is not a sony patent. Lumix had it first in the lumix s1h sony did not even have an flipout Screen at that time
Oh, great. I wasn’t aware Limix had it first. So maybe it’s free for all.
@TouchLifeStudio i guess, it would be nice if companies copy the s5ii fan system as well. You dont notice its there and it just works.
To me 2007 - 2016 is like it was yesterday and watching those specs its hard to belive how much better even entry level cameras are now
I know, many entry level cameras today, arguably are better than flagship cameras of the past.
@TouchLifeStudio we should be very grateful for what we have tiday
Nikon please include a multi angle screen like sony and panasonic have!
I’m with you!!! I would love for that to be a new standard for Nikon.
I have a Zf already, and even if this new Nikon Z9 (ii) comes with Red video features, a global shutter, 61mgpxl and makes me coffee everyday, I still only want a D850. A brand new Nikon D850 to couple with MY Zeiss Otus lenses.
I appreciate your easy approach! Back to the basics and D850! Nice!
F5 - D2Xs - D3 - D4s - D6 - Z9. Sold the D2Xs because I didn't like the sensor and the viewfinder. I still use all of them. Most of the time the Z9.
Wow. You took a journey to get to the Z9. Nice walk down a memory lane. Thanks for sharing!
@@TouchLifeStudio I bought my first F5 used for 280 Euros around 2002. Except for the Z9 I got all cameras used in very good condition.
@@TouchLifeStudioAround 2002 I bought my first F5 for 280 Euros. Except for the Z9 I bought all cameras used in very good condition.
I would be happy with the following upgrades. 30FPS RAW with PreCapure, 9mp EVF. Same 45mp sensor and same body perfect upgrade for Z9ll
It sounds great. But I think Nikon is going to give us another big moment with Nikon Z9 II.
@@TouchLifeStudio 是的,沒錯,我已經先預訂了,感謝如此詳細分享,祝福您!
All I need from the Z9 is: Higher FPS (30?) Pre-capture raw Better AF Better Viewfinder. The rest of those specs that you suggested are dreamy and would be an intant buy from me :) BTW Just traded in my ZF for Z6 III :) The Z6 III I got with just 66 clicks (not K, actual 66) for 1800 USD! Got about 1400 for my 17K clicks ZF.
Wow, what a deal! Enjoy your Z6III. Do you find that it is much better than Zf?
@@TouchLifeStudio It all happned a few hours ago so I had no chance of testing it yet , I'll have plenty of opportunities this weekend. I already like it much better because of the modren ergonomics , I was ok with the ZF and grip but the Z6III is sooo much more fun and managable to hold. I thought I would regret for switching , but In retrospec I don't like the old style dials as much as I thought, and I don't miss it at all.. I really did think it would be the camera I would never sell , well never say never :) still very capable though! and I am pretty sure in High iso it's better than the Z6 III .
@@LOLA6ifyable well…enjoy it!
What do you expect from the Nikon Z9II? Do you think global shutter will be part of it?
Nikon too what seemed like for ever to release a Full frame. Luckily I never bought a DX lenses. The D3 was better than anything anyone else had when it came out. It was fun to walk around with one and make large prints with no noise, even with what was for then high ISO images.
I know, right! Glad to hear that you enjoyed your D3, Allan.
R1 doesn't have a global shutter, A1II doesn't have a global shutter. I'd rather like to see a Z 9II and maybe Z 8II that focus on improving on NIkons weaknesses instead of wasting money on features that don't have a real-world benefit and which likely will only impact the price in a negative way - apart from the image quality, as we're talking less dynamic range and such. Like, Sonys A9III to me is like a concept car. Looks nice, but what the heck am I going to do with 120 fps in photography (Even birders are like "Oh, I'm almost never utilizing 30 or 40 fps as 20 is plenty enough") that can't really catch up to what I'm currently getting out of a Z 9 at 20 fps? Makes no sense at all.
Canon is taking their time with a global shutter. But they will have it as some point. I hear your point, but from we can tell global shutter tech is not a concept and is being included with cameras now. Now it’s just time of refinement. Some cameras companies are faster others are slower but eventually all will adopt its tech.
Good points
