Can You Foil With A Knee Injury?
In this video I share why it's been so long since I've uploaded and show proof that foiling has almost no impact on my knees. Obviously the range of motion and tendons/ligaments have to be somewhat working, but the quads are what takes a majority of the force.
This is a video I have wanted to make for awhile, but this injury has kept me from doing what I love most and it's been hard to overcome the negative thoughts. Nonetheless, I'm just thankful that recovery is possible and that I can still make videos for you guys. The vibes are happy and I look forward to making more content soon!

More time on the Axis Spitfire 960 behind the boat and off the dock. Not my favorite wing to dockstart, but definitely my favorite behind the boat. The 960 rips behind the boat, yet still pumps super well. Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!): uppbeat.io/t/pryces/princess License code: J3WCI9HG4EVMMJA3

    If I may ask for a bit of advice, a little less than 2 months ago I began dock starting and I’m having good luck with it! My question is should I continue to learn on my axis 1150 and 1180 or would I benefit from adding a large pump foil(1401) in an effort to chase down my 2nd goal other than dock starting this season of pumping one minute +? Here is a link to a short for reference of my current skill level: ruclips.net/user/shortsR4i6xVfX-RE?feature=shared I must say love your videos!!! Thanks!

      @RCKahuna150 Looking good out there! So if you want to save some money and ease the transition to the 1180, I'd reccomend getting a skinny rear if you don't already. It changes the feel a ton! Also, your form looks a little back leg heavy from what I can tell. Does it burn out pretty quick? What is your longest pump time? The 1180 coming from the 1150 is a decently challenging foil to dockstart in my experience, but I also probably should have kept the 460 rear on to learn lol. The 1401 was very easy for me to learn and I found it to be a great addition to the 1150 for distance pumping. The 1180 is the best all around wing in my opinion in terms of dockstarting, fun pumping and carving.

      @@FoilFanatic42 thanks for the input! In my clip I was on the 1150/ultrashort/350pro combo and yes it always seems to ride nose high. My back leg doesn’t typically burn out first I just straight gas around 40sec. My 1180/sillyshort/45skinny combo is my favorite for just pumping seems better in every aspect but I’ve been using the lower stall speed 1150 combo to practice dock starts. My thoughts were pick up the 1401 just to make my goal of 1min before end of season. Although once I get good Dstarting the 1180 combo I do believe it will be easier to push beyond 60’ with that combo. I already got my first goal of dock starting before end of year and I’m super stoked I did that at 53 yrs lol now I just need to 1 min mark 🤙

    • @FoilFanatic42
      @FoilFanatic42 Месяц назад

      @RCKahuna150 I see, I misread and didn't realize you already had an 1180 lol. The 1180 definitely pumps more efficiently and could definitely get you over a minute and in my opinion easier than the 1150. Do you only have a silly short black fuse? I wonder if the ultra short would help with duration? The 1401 would surely get you over the 1 minute mark, but I have no doubt that your pumping technique improving will get you 1+ minutes on the 1180.

      @@FoilFanatic42 awesome! Good to hear on the 1180! Yes I have the ultrashort black and I can try it again but I felt like the 1180/silly/45skinny combo really unlocked my proper pump form in the spring but honestly I’m learning so dang fast now that it’s hard to tell.. I got the 1180 initially because I felt like I was struggling with pumping my 1150 but now I feel very comfortable with the 1150 combo. • @FoilFanatic42
      @FoilFanatic42 2 месяца назад

      @AdamsHadEnough That really is one of the hardest parts since so many docks don't have enough room underneath. The dock in this video has deep dock floats, so the board has to be kinda low. One method I use on docks with no undercut or posts, is the jump start straight out. This does require a 1300cm^2 and up foil for me though.

I Dock foil: Sabfoil Leviathan 1750 ( Super easy, slow turning, slow, little effort) F1 Jam 1900 ( Fast, easy, smooth , perfect setup right out of box, close challenge to 1401) Axis 1310 ( easy lots of front foot pressure, slow) Slingshot infinity 99 (too much energy required for my weight)

    It seems it needs a kind of floating dock to keep the board perfectly vertical when starting. Kind of training wheels.

      Floating docks in my experience don't help when waves come in due to the dock rocking side to side and up and down. In the creek it works great though

    I weigh 210 lbs. you think the 960 is too small for my weight surfing behind a wake boat and pumping back to 2nd or 3 rd wake? I’ve got the 1180 and love it but want to try something more playful behind the boat. I was thinking maybe the 1030?

    • @FoilFanatic42
      @FoilFanatic42 3 месяца назад

      The 960 would likely be good for your weight at 210. We have the wave turned down to 3/6 and I surfed the 3rd wake today easily with the 960 and I could probably go for an even smaller wing, but the pumpability of the 960 is probably as small as I'll go due to how well it pumps.

    Slingshot setup pos B is for windfoil. You have to put your feets a little bit more forward, but this will increase "springyness" of whole system. So pumping you got used to can be inefficient. Change to A may help. However it is low aspect wing, may be is not good for PnG.

The spitfires 1100 and below (and ART, HPS) don't have as much. I tried adding the +1 shim (comes in the bolt pack) to the rear wing on demo spitfire 1100 and it improved the low end significantly and made it possible to dead start.
