Eargasms: The Waldorf Quantum MkII
Let's get lost together in the endless sea of options and potential that is the Waldorf Quantum MkII :)
Let's talk about analog and digital. Keys vs no keys. The meaning of life. All that. All that. All that. But, more than anything, let's listen to some gooey sounds from this exceptional synth.

Why the Jomox Alpha Base Is the Best Sounding Drum Machine, Period
Просмотров 27 тыс.4 месяца назад
The Jomox Alpha Base is the best sounding drum machine out there, period. With analog, hybrid, and digital voices, it consistently results in drums that I LOVE. If you are into sound design and drum synthesis, this box is for you. It has been in my studio for 6 months, and it's a keeper - beating out the DSI Tempest, Elektron Analog Rytm MkII, Vermona DRM1 MkIV, and others. As always, thank you...
If The Strokes were Prog House DJs on the Moog One, Quantum MkII, Alpha Base, and Model 1 mixer

I've always been a huge fan of the Strokes, but I'm not a guitar player - trying to learn though(!) - so I thought about trying to capture that angsty but feel good pop vibe from Hard to Explain and turn it into a Progressive House track. Enjoy! The routing in the studio has gotten really epic thanks to the RME UFX 3 and the Ferrofish Pulse 16 I added. The combination is able to handle all of t...
deadmau5 inspired jam on the Moog One, Minimoog Model D, Waldorf Iridium, and Jomox Alpha Base
Просмотров 8 тыс.9 месяцев назад
Took a little break from working on some originals to record a little jam inspired by Move for Me by Kaskade & deadmau5. Drums are from the Jomox Alpha Base sequenced from Ableton and running through a single Neve Shelford Channel. Bass is on the minimoog into DI of the other Shelford Channel. Main chords are voiced on a single layer of the Moog One sequenced from Ableton (pre-recorded the MIDI...

Atmosphere is awesome 👌
😂❤🎉
Nice 🎈uhh synth
3rd wave has 4 parts and 24 voices and also has a lot of different noise types, and does 6 voices for 4 layers each. Makes this synth irrelevant other than the signature moog filter. Just get a nina synth or poly brute 12 instead for significantly cheaper, wont give you more voices or timbrel count like the 3rd wave however. Also just as easy to make patches and SIGNIFICANTLY smaller and cheaper especially with the desktop version at only $3150. This instrument is already irrelevant in terms of its capability per dollar. Plus all the other thing the 3rd wave gives you, just throw a moogerfooger mf101 filter on it if you really want a moog lp filter sound.
So freaking cool. I'm poor so I got a poly D :)
Every six months I come back to this video when I consider a Moog one again... Great stuff!
Why I hate the Quantum MKII and why YOU shouldnt buy one from a statistical and logical perspective coming from an obsessed nerd: 1: Quantum MKII is extremely expensive, doesnt come in a desktop format which would reduce its price even though the iridium does 2: Nobody raves about a quantum because for its price, size, and analog voice count of only 8, for its price, you can just get an iridium and a 3rd wave both in desktop modules for the same price! And was even rated most over priced synth in the most detailed synth list video for 2024. 3: People complain the waldorf iridium/quantum overloads even at 5-6 voices its possible, which I didnt even know about till recently 4: The 3rd wave has sampling, WAY better wavetable synthesis, and better VA synthesis with the same "drift" mode as sequential and oberheim which is the best EVER made and 1 to 1 clones the original old models. It even has basic FM. But if you want better FM, physical modeling, and sampling, just get a Korg Kronos 2 61 key (or nautilus if you dont care about ribbon control), Yamaha Montage 6 (not the new M model), and control it all from an Osmose expressive e using MIDI thru (Kronos actually has polyphonic aftertouch), while using their live set features (3rd wave will eventually have live set mode), and you have a significantly better sound for barely more money than the Waldorf Quantum MKII. For a live setting just audio in the 3rd wave to the Kronos, youll be missing a little sparkle that the Montage gives you from FM but everything else is there and WAY better. And Objectively sounds and performs WAY better for live! 5: Waldorf like the Moog One "25:30" has tons of issues cause its such a complex new instrument at such an expensive price point, UNLIKE the Korg Kronos and nautilus and montage that have been out for awhile and are STILL the best in their class (New montage M isnt worth it if you have other gear, doesnt add more FMx voices, "New" Korg nautilus is just a Kronos with no hardware controls). 6: The 3rd wave has REAL prophet SSI2140 filters and insanely accurate oberheim SEM filters which are better than any non sequential or oberheim instrument ON THE MARKET. Find me a synth without a sequential or oberheim logo that replicates their filters anywhere near as well, the Behringer and UDO disappoint me with their garbage "drift" emulation, lower voice count and timbre count and quality FX, and most importantly how they FAIL to reach the highest range of the frequencies of their filters in comparison to REAL SSM2044 filters and the behringers failed SEM and CURTIS filter replications, that while sound close ENOUGH to the original, arent as close as the 3rd wave. What UDO did with the SSI2144 filters DO NOT SOUND anything like Korgs old SSM2044 filter synths or the PPG wave 2.2 SSM2044 filter sound, and almost sounds like software level glassiness (excluding the super high resolution that software cant replicate), which completely defeats the purpose of buying an analog/analog hybrid instrument. DO NOT buy this instrument, I cannot recommend this to ANYONE, even at a 25% discount. Not to Buy a 3rd wave desktop $3150 (use any 10% discount code perfect circut has for ALL products) And a Korg Nautilus 61 for $1600-1700 or a Kronos 2 88 for just $2000 used! If you prefer FM over extra analog and better sampling with 240 voices "HD-1 engine", get a montage 7 for just over $2000 used. And GUESS WHAT, because the Quantum is so BAD at keeping value (nobody SERIOUS owns one), you can get a QUANTUM MK1 FOR JUST $2300!!! JUST LIKE THAT, you can get a 3rd wave desktop, PLUS a Korg, Yamaha, or Waldorf last generation flagship, AND STILL be cheaper than a Quantum MKII And have a 10x better result. I personally recommend a 3rd wave desktop and Korg Kronos 2 88, if you want montage M reverb and delay, get Meris Mercury X and LVX pedals. For Quantum Granular, Empress FX Zoia. You are welcome.
I find myself a bit distracted. Sorry to sound like such a pig, it just- is what it is
🥰
your sounds are crazy, love you man
hope you do elektron too, D2 is amazing, 16 stereo audio tracks
Wow that kitchen Moog is priceless!😮
kewl 😎
cool music
Yes queen Dimund, come back to us 🙌
Sooooon
I feel like we're up to something slightly shady with that track playing!! Where you been? .. I've missed your tracks !!!😁. What's the box with the blue lights??💫💙
Just that sinister trap sound, right? The box is a Dave Smith Instruments Tempest! And yeah, I’ll get back to making some videos. Next one will be on the Tempest, I think.
@@dimund ❤️
@@dimund...i love what that little box can do & can't wait for you to show us more!!💫
Big up 🌈🫶
Your sound is impeccable.
a bit of flat eric going on there love it
I really like the sound of that moog after reamping it and everything. It has a really nice roundness and punchy sound on the lower frequency stuff you’re playing and it has a nice bit of overdrive that isn’t overwhelming or anything. It’s really nice. Your breasts also have a roundness to them that makes me forget everything I’ve ever known and suddenly I can no longer think.
Beautiful!
I trust you have an A1 dehumidifier/HVAC system in place? Great beats btw, would love the skills to play one of these boxes - yt’s been offering a few community-based jamming sessions with the ABs lately, and the sounds are really me in terms of taste. Ps was in NYC once ☝️ and I probably had the worst slice NYC had to offer… …still one of the best pizzas 🍕 I’ve had 🇮🇪✌️
Honestly, there no need to show your rack in order to harvest views...
Did you sell your moog one? 🤔 I really want a Waldorf they make nice desktop synths
Love your set up. Came for the synths stayed for the sexy ❤
Only took three hours to upload those samples lol
Yeah, not loving sample management with it
Underwhelming
Ur
I like to see them bounce!
yea it's fire
Don't stop !!!
Классно
Just thank you for doing something beyond ambient and 80s synth VA!
..I am just discovering your sounds..impressive..and you are the cutest thing 😇 😇 😇
Great stuff. How are you incorporating the Playdifferently Model 1 Mixer into your setup and DAW with all your hardware??
🥰
🥰
..cutest creature 🥰 🥰 🥰
Too you
Wait… tell me the sub bass that gets unmuted around 40 seconds wasn’t also coming from jomox.
Yes! You can send the filter into self resonation, which essentially produces a sine wave. Pretty common on a lot of synths, but it’s an unusual feature on a drum machine. The DSI Tempest is the only other one that I can I think of that does this, but I’m sure there are more :)
All the best tools arranged and used so well. Wow always.
Thank you! I really appreciate that :)
Mad!!
Do you really need one when the Jomox is there?
Realizing I don’t hah, but I missed the Elektron sequencer. At the end of the day, I hate using samples, because there is way too much admin work required to keep a sample library up-to-date and organized. I’d probably enjoy a Syntakt more.
Plastic girl making music its perfect 👌
Any gear similar to a vermona drm1 in terms of simplicity, knob per function, great build? Doesn’t necessarily have to be a a drum synth but could be a regular synth
I think the new UDO Super Gemini would satisfy that, but I can’t speak to build quality, as I haven’t played one.
@@dimund that would be cool but don’t want to sell my kidney haha
I prefer Soma Pulsar 23
Nice beat
37:00 now that’s a patch! You made that??
Thank you! Yes, all the sounds I use on my videos are ones I designed.
That’s a great looking board! 🔥🔥
Sweeet🔥🔥
Lol… it’s cool, buts it’s no Ableton
