  • ** My apologies for the vertical video, but the jam ended up going longer that the 60 seconds allowed for a short, but hopefully this little melodic techno jam will satisfy **
    I recently replaced my Vermona DRM1 MkIV with a Jomox Alpha Base, and I can’t say enough good things about it. It needs so little processing and just sounds so good. The kick… geeeeeez I’m shook. So good! (said that already)
    Just using a single layer of the Moog One here with a bunch of modulation to loosen up the tuning of the oscillators and envelope timings. Also using the BBD delay on the One and the Eventide Hall. I honestly love the effects on the One, especially those two. I could listen to an arpeggio running through them forever 🤤
    Also running the One through the Rupert Neve Shelford Channels, per usual, with some compression and blue silk. Those channel strips just make everything sound better.

    Perfect Circuit reached out to me, and I was exceedingly flattered, humbled, and surprised. I have been a fan for a long time and have purchased gear from them many times in the past. I think they are just great, and I even happened to FINALLY get to stop by their shop when I was in LA for a wedding this past summer, which was SOOOO FUN. I thought about the offer for a few months, and finally decided to do it, because it will help direct people to a store I love, and it will help me to buy things like a better camera, lights, etc. that I am discovering are quite necessary to produce really good content. My gear probably won't change that much - that's not really my style, if you haven't noticed - and I don't really see myself trying to get into the review game or make a living off of this stuff. So, I highly doubt you'll see me making videos "reviewing" the latest music doodad. But yeah, this got long... I'm at peace with that. So, basically, if you are planning to buy some gear, this is a cool way to keep a dope synth shop going and maybe get me a better camera along the way. If you are against affiliate link stuff, but you still plan to buy some gear, please do it from one of my other favorite stores; I won't be offended and still think you are awesome :D

    I love how this is really three synths in one without those annoying patch cables, so creative and compact despite it's size. I hate cables. After i get a bass flute I will get one of these marvelous synthesizers

      @@dimund I like how your stabs open with a nice focus of filter with bouncey bounce right to left, then become plucks, then transform to chocked stabs all the way to over driven territory.
      It's a great way to make things go the distance, the M1 has a glorious texture to it, the Jomox is just fluffy.
      It can do mad bass lines too, always wanted one, just a little too expensive for me atm.
      It out of all the drum machines I have short listed, even over a Tempest, is the one that would be most effective for me.
      Great work, keep em coming.

    Very nice tune and drum programming. That Moog One really harks back to the days of the early 80s polysynth behemoths, doesn't it? Looks very similar to the old Memory Moog but it's obviously a totally different instrument.
    You've definitely mastered it, don't ever get rid as I'm sure it will only appreciate in value now!

      Thank you! I have the One and the Alpha Base clocked to Ableton, which is running. The One’s sequencer is set to a 64 step loop, and I have it armed. I had the metronome going at the start (which isn’t audible in the recording). Once I finished entering 4 bars, it just looped back around and played the notes I had entered :)

    Does the Vermona need that much processing?

    • @dimund
      @dimund  11 месяцев назад +1

      It depends what you are going for. I like really modern sounding stuff that is loud and clear with a smaller dynamic range, and I like my drums to be suuuuper tight, so I generally gate, EQ, and compress/limit just about everything.
      The raw sound does sound great though to begin with. Better after processing imo - like most things. The kick, especially, benefits from rolling off below the fundamental.
