Hi, I am Steve Chiasson, a retired P.E. teacher with a lifelong passion for fishing. I miss my career in education and sharing my passion for fishing is a natural progression. My experience as a tournament angler, seminar speaker, working at trade shows, and pro staffng for Humminbird, Minn Kota, Cannon Downriggers, Abu Garcia, Berkley, Fenwick, Pflueger, and Spiderwire has given me a wealth of knowledge. As a former Canadian Classic Champion, two time Angler of the Year, and multiple tournament winner, I will share my insights in the hopes of making you a more successful angler.
Making Fishing Skirts is EASY!
Bass fishing and fishing skirts go together like bread and butter. Spinnerbaits, jigs, chatterbaits, and buzzbaits are made with skirts. Inevitably skirts will break and need to be replaced. In this video, you will learn how simple it is to make a fishing skirt, how to put them on baits, and some advanced tips for getting the best performance from your skirts. With a simple tool, some skirt materials, and the knowledge gained in this video, you can make your own fishing skirts. You can gain a competitive edge on your fishing buddies by creating custom colours that the bass don’t see every day! Included in this video are jig customization tips as well as one of my favourite skirt colours. ...

Rub Rail Loose Screws - Important Maintenance Tip!

Bass boats and other boats use rub rails for protection and to cover up screws which join cap and hull pieces together. The term screwed and glued means that the cap and hull utilizes screws and an adhesive to help secure a boat together. Happy New Year to you, Steve Question: can you produce a video that shows us how YOU got about approaching and fishing your waypoints, using 360-DI-Mega Live-SI...? For instance do you go over your waypoints with DI to see if fish are there, then set up and fish, etc...? What is your approach/technique, using these electronics, during your day on the water... Thanks much...!! God Bless You and your family, my friend...
@@IsaacGonzalez-ry9ml Happy New Year to you too. I have some video footage with that video concept in place. It’s on a lake 3 hours away and I am not sure it’s good enough quality to use at this time. I will review it. Primarily, side image to find the spots, M360 allows you to see it, MegaLive allows you to detect fish easier. The 3 units complement each other. Ironically, the spot I am referring to was found with M360. I side imaged it later.
@@stevechiassonfishing5876 Thanks Steve... Confirming what I am doing...:) Do you roll over your waypoint with your DI looking to see if is holding fish that day then and only then fish it...? Or... Figure that they may be too tight to the bottom to be shown...? As always, thanks for your prompt and helpful advice...!
Once I know what’s there with SI, I’ll use M360 and ML as I don’t want to drive over top of the structure and spook fish. Once I have fished it, I may drive over it just to get a better look.
@@stevechiassonfishing5876 Thanks Steve Appreciate your time/knowledge...!!
One trick my dad taught me catching whitefish is to use the spud to make a little “boat” landing on the side of the hole so you can just slide the fish right up onto the ice! It doesn’t have to be deep just a few inches down and nice shallow angle. Makes landing them so much simpler!
Cool idea, thanks for sharing.
Great video
Thank you, I appreciate you sharing your kind words.
Why is this shortcut key button shown in my new helix 7 si gps G4 manual but I don't have these keys?
I am not sure whether it’s a misprint or it’s simply one manual for all Helix 7s, and they chose to put a picture of the G4N on the cover to show what’s available.
Jus bought a Helix 7 SI DI GPS G4 and the book shows shortcut view button but mine doesn't have any???

@@PerryShriver I saw the release posts today. The Helix units are still great units. Technology is a constantly evolving process, it is unfortunate that the Helix won’t support the MegaLive 2. From what I understand, the software in the Helix simply won’t work with ML2. I know that won’t make you feel better. Hopefully you got your units at the clearance prices. There will still be a market for the Helix and MegaLive units if you decide to go to XPlore and ML2.
good stuff🤔👍
Thanks again Perry, I appreciate you sharing your thoughtful comments. The boat feels a lot more solid now that the screws were all tightened. Definitely glad that I took the time to do the repair!
very nice looking truck.👍👍👍👍
Thanks Perry, I am thoroughly enjoying my new Ram! It will be a long winter waiting to tow my boat with it.

This is great. This is my first year on the ice with my helix 8. So lots to learn. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure, glad you found the video helpful. Good luck on the ice this year, have fun, and be safe.
Does it work on glass?
The original Hot Sauce is recommended for use on glass. The mixture in the video works on glass. The Quik Wax in this mixture is just enough to give a high gloss finish without streaking. The cost works out to less than $2/bottle so I use it on all parts of my boat including the windshields. For my Humminbird electronics glass I still use a vinegar/water mixture as it’s just a method I have always used in the past. Just to confirm, I went and washed my front door window glass and it looked awesome. A good, clean microfibre towel is an important part of the cleaning process too.
Nice vid Steve. So many reasons to keep watching your videos. But please, fix your audio; balance it out throughout the clip and make better transitions coz it gets annoying sometimes. Whatever video editor you were using it most likely has those features (audio balancer and smooth transitions).
I make my videos on my phone and use I Movie. I will have to look into the audio portions of it more. Thank you for the kind words and suggestions, much appreciated.
Looks great !
Thanks Don, it works great! For less than $2/bottle, you can’t go wrong. I use it now on my trailer and everything. At $30/bottle, I would use Hot Sauce sparingly, mainly on my motor, chrome pieces, and cap of the boat.
Steve, I am recently installing Humminbird Helix 12 units on my boat. So I was looking for RUclips videos to help me learn how to use them. Love the new truck Steve! Not only can your 91 year mom climb in comfortably so can your shorter in stature fishing partners do the same. Lots of room for us n the back seat plus any gear. So functional!
Thank you for the kind words Julie. I definitely thought about Lisa when purchasing the truck. We will be fishing in complete comfort and style moving forward 😊!
A great truck. It is not only great looking but it has everything that one needs to tow a boat and trailer. The interior has added features that allow one to store or pack underneath a flat surface. Small items such as the lights in the box make it easy to use the box with the cover down. Super truck that "tics" all the boxes.

I wasn’t quite ready to buy a truck either. The availability of the Hemi in the 2024 certainly swayed my decision and I am really happy that I made the jump! Guessing the resale values on the 2024s will be high as well. As seen in the video, I plan on taking care of and keeping this truck!
