    After doing all kinds of research on the internet, I got the Terrova, 12V. 55 thrust and 45 shaft. I think that it will pull my 17 foot Nitro pretty well as I had a Motor Guide with a 40 pound thrust and that pulled it very well. I am going to have it mounted in the next couple of days and really look forward to trying it out. It's got a few more "bells & whistles" than I need, but I hope to learn how to get it to work. I think that the Spot Lock feature will really be a help the way that I fish. I bought it mainly for the Auto Pilot. When I lived in Florida, in the 90's, I had an AP motor and LOVED it!! I just bought a used boat and this was the next BIG step on "tricking it out" like I wanted to. Thanks!

    Personally I think a 3 minute intro is a little long to wait to get t the content. That said good videos.

    Fantastic video. Very informative. I've been trying to dial my Helix 7 3G in so I could see my bait when drop shotting. I have watched dozens of videos and tried the settings they suggested but so far I've had no luck. Are there any other factors besides settings that could prevent me from seeing my lure? Thanks for the help.

      Thanks for the kind words, they are much appreciated. The down imaging beam is narrow making it difficult to see your bait. You will have more success using your 2D sonar which shoots out a cone signal. The cone angle will allow you to see your bait. MegaLive is also another way to see your bait. Ice fishing you can even see your swivel above the drop shoot hook, bait, and weight falling.

    Do you know if you can over ride the automatic stowing feature where it turns the head automatically when you pull up on the rope? For example, in shallow water I often pick up the motor but only half way and use the foot pedal to steer still and guide the motor to get out of the shallow water so the bottom of the motor is not hitting the bottom of the lake but still running the motor so I can power out while picking it up a smidge. Unsure how this may read as I have been having a hard time describing this in writing.

      I do understand your question as I do the same thing. I will check next time I am out.

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876 3 месяца назад

      Yes you can override the stow feature. Just pull it up like normal, it orients itself but you just simply step on the foot pedal and it operates just like you are used to when steering out of shallower water.

      Awesome! My only last concern is the size and weight. I have an 18ft bass boat and went from a motorguide scissor mount to a Terrova. Terrova has such a small foot print and is nice but the issue is hard to add 360 and/or other accessories. I love the small footprint of the Terrova though but wish I could add the other stuff. My Terrova is getting old now and thinking of updating.

    Hi Steve... Hope all is well... I am reviewing (again!) many of your videos... I am looking for your Mega Live video, with your recommended settings information... I am sure that I am overlooking it somehow, where can I find it...? As always, thanks for all you do, god bless you and your family, my friend...

    Thanks for the video. Is the Minn Kota Terrova I Pilot (Not I Pilot Link) compatible with the Hummingbird Helix 9 MDI+ GPS G4N CHO?

      If you have a built in transducer it will work. You can’t control trolling motor with Helix since it’s not a link.

    Might be a tad easier using the 3/4 bit and then the drill bit in that order.

    Hi Steve, I see you are using a helix 12. Is it worth it to go to a 12 instead of a helix 10? I already have a helix 9

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876 3 месяца назад

      The advantages of a 12 over a 10 is better resolution. It’s also easier to view multiple screens on the 12. The 10 still provides a really good image so it comes down to budget, mounting space, and personal preference.

    Buy a 12 volt regulated power supply and an extra helix power plug cable. Properly connect and use inside your home. This is what I do in the comfort of my home.

      I have lithium 12V batteries I use for ice fishing and also do that as well. It’s a very helpful tip too, thank you. Lots of anglers don’t have ice fishing opportunities so this accessory is a good option for them.

      Completely optional, I do not use a mounting plate, it is bolted directly to the bow platform.

    What's the difference between heading up or course up?

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876

      Heading up is boats current direction map rotates with boats direction, course up is used when navigating to a waypoint. I will send you a picture in other conversation.
