  • When navigating to and from fishing spots, anglers generally use their 2D sonar and mapping/chart features. Split position is a feature that can be tweaked to enhance the performance of your Humminbird Helix while navigating and fishing.     A quick way to change between the two would be using your memory buttons. Just hold the selected memory button for 3 seconds and its saved to that button. I usually don't change it from 50 as I don't need more than half the screen for sonar history. A feature I just started exploring last fall was the bottom hardness feature. A video on that feature would be interesting to me.

      The shortcut buttons if your unit has them are definitely a good suggestion. Anglers with SI units would likely have many other options as shortcut favourites. Thanks for the bottom hardness suggestion.

      Thanks Mark, I appreciate your kind words. It’s a simple, effective tip that makes the key screens easier to see. I find it especially important when navigating to be able to use the bigger map.
