Do you know if you can over ride the automatic stowing feature where it turns the head automatically when you pull up on the rope? For example, in shallow water I often pick up the motor but only half way and use the foot pedal to steer still and guide the motor to get out of the shallow water so the bottom of the motor is not hitting the bottom of the lake but still running the motor so I can power out while picking it up a smidge. Unsure how this may read as I have been having a hard time describing this in writing.
Yes you can override the stow feature. Just pull it up like normal, it orients itself but you just simply step on the foot pedal and it operates just like you are used to when steering out of shallower water.
Awesome! My only last concern is the size and weight. I have an 18ft bass boat and went from a motorguide scissor mount to a Terrova. Terrova has such a small foot print and is nice but the issue is hard to add 360 and/or other accessories. I love the small footprint of the Terrova though but wish I could add the other stuff. My Terrova is getting old now and thinking of updating.
Hi Dave, the Ultrex does not come in a 72” shaft. I will be releasing a video tomorrow on the Terrova and Ulterra. There are available 72” shafts on some of those models. The Ultrex does not self deploy.
The older units had the puck mounted away from the TM, which you had to calibrate ,as you said newTM has it built in do you still have to calibrate it?
I just installed mine but haven’t had it out on the water. I helped a friend with his and we did a keel offset. We set the Quest to straight on deploy and designated stow orientation. I didn’t see anything about doing circles anymore. The keel offset is the calibration. I will be doing mine soon. If anything else needs to be done I will let you know.
No circles to calibrate, just the keel offset, straight on deploy, and stow orientation. Quite simple to set up. The motor comes with a separate instruction manual to complete set up. In the installation manual, it goes into a discussion about indexing the trolling motor. In my experience, the trolling motor and prop shaft line up with the pedal being parallel to the boat so you are usually good to go as far as indexing goes. My boat should be good to go by the end of the day.
It is supposed to be more precise and accurate with less wandering than previous spot lock capabilities. From everything I hear those statements are supported by things I have seen and heard. I do not have mine yet so I am not speaking from personal experience.
There is a Mega 360 adapter kit available to work with the Ultrex Quest. humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.com/us/shop/accessories/360-imaging/mega-360-hardware-kit-ultrex
If you bought the M360 recently, there’s a newer model that comes ready for the Ultrex Quest. When I looked up the adapter kit, there was the question the same as yours. That’s where I got the link for you. I haven’t got the Quest yet. As far as I can tell you need the adapter kit. Check with your local dealer or Humminbird to confirm.
I would love that and if I can I will! In the middle of a renovation project which I was trying to get done before the nice weather. The nice weather is here already!

I do understand your question as I do the same thing. I will check next time I am out.

Do you need a mounting plate like the quick release?
Completely optional, I do not use a mounting plate, it is bolted directly to the bow platform.
If I heard you correctly, this is not available with a 72 inch shaft?? Does this self deploy? The names they use are too similar for me.

Very informative...Sound quality is poor though, had to keep adjusting the volume
Thanks for the heads up Randy. It’s tough to make videos at the shows. I think I will have to add a microphone.
Can you give any insight if the Advanced GPS spot lock is that much better than the older models IPilot spot lock?

Plus you also get the new drift and dodge mode features now too.
Just ordered one. If you have a 360, you need a special mount.

If you pay that much, I wouldn’t think you’d have to pay extra for a feature that is standard on my existing Ultrex. Strange.

I just cut my 360 plate to fit and added a small spacer on one of the bolts with a longer bolt to fit
Added one to the white whale this year.
Come join me in the next two weeks..ice will be off in a week on my bay..
Definitely looking forward to getting one on my boat this season!
