- The popular Minn Kota Terrova electric trolling motor has been a reliable workhorse for many years. It is a best selling motor in the Minn Kota line. People have been asking for the brushless technology and it’s here! The brushless Terrova will be known as the Minn Kota Terrova Quest. This video showcases freshwater trolling motors only. There is also a Riptide saltwater series of Terrovas. The focus of the video will be on the Quest. There will be plenty of brushed Terrova comparisons as well as some upgrades to it too. Join me as I go in depth reviewing the new Minn Kota Terrovas at the Toronto International Boat Show.

So. if i’m understanding right, they both come with all the same software and one network options, but the quest is brushless and beefier? along with the 24/36 option ?
The Advanced GPS Navigation is the same, brushless is quieter and beefier. The Quest has the lever instead of the knob as well as the SI transducer option, brushed model has MDI transducer option.
Are the buttons on the remote back lit ? I have a brushed Ulterra, operating it's remote at night can be challenging without back lit buttons
When you press the power button on the new wireless remote, you will get lighting menu options.
Is the mounting holes spaced the same . I am going from the brushed terrova to the terrova quest series
@@thomasrichard913 it was for my Ultrex, I am not 100% sure as the Terrova base is bigger on the Quest so I suspect the holes might be spaced a little differently.
Steve i will be purchasing a new terrova model 1358382 24 volt 60 inch 80 lb thrust. My impression of this unit is it all the new advanced gps features but the 2023 design hardware. Well priced.

Congratulations enjoy the trolling motor. Yes the advanced gps features including the necessary adapters and connectivity for Helix units.
So the updated 2024 12V Terrova with the Dual Spectrum CHIRP (DSC) still has the same transducer head with the flat, circular face with the seals that fail?
I won’t buy that type of unit again after my 2016 unit’s seals failed and I had to replace the entire lower unit.
The whole Quest update was a redesign.
Brushless ok, but what about the steering speed and spot lock improvements that are much needed?
From everything I have heard the Advanced GPS Navigation is definitely better. Personally speaking I have never had any issues with the steering speed on an Ultrex. I will be getting one soon and will be able to verify at that time.

Thanks for the kind words about my videos. I have simply used Lakemaster cards that are available for my area. I have not done any maps from the Humminbird website.
Thank you for your reply😊 I live in Norway, so basically we depend on each other’s mapping work (we that love to fish) Norway market is very small and it is not easy to get a hold of lake maps.

If so, what accessory do you need to achieve that?
Cannot for the life of me find this statistic, "How much does the Quest brush less w/72" shaft, Weigh?
I've looked all over their website for that info. Wanted to know because, I wanted to parked my boat at a Marina and remove the unit from the bow of my boat/lock the unit down with padlock.
Which brings me to another thought, in your video. You show the Brush version with a Quick Release Bracket. Does the brush-less come with this option? Or at worst case, can a bracket be ordered separately, if you know?

Thanks for the kind words about the video, much appreciated. Most trolling enthusiasts have a kicker motor which they use to hold the path of the boat in a straight line and control the majority of the speed. For example, if I am trolling worm harnesses at 1.8-2.1 mph, I would set the kicker up to about 1.5 mph, then I would bump up the speed using my trolling motor to 1.8-2.1 conserving battery bower and putting the trolling motor into advanced autopilot to control my direction, works great and easily controlled with remote. It all comes standard with the trolling motor. The trolling motor complements the kicker motor but does not control the kicker. Think of it as fine tuning your speed and direction.
The release bracket is an option. The Quest series are heavier than the brushed models. This was necessary to reinforce the motor for the added power and torque. I would rather have the extra weight and reliability of the Quest so the added weight is not a big factor in my opinion. I am not 100% sure but I would suspect it’s about 10 pounds heavier than the brushed model.
@@stevechiassonfishing5876 oh okay, so basically you're using Both motors at the same time. I thought there was some magic that when only using the Kicker I could control the kicker. I see what you're saying about using both, the Minn kota could follow the contours of the Hummingerbird graph . Thanks
About the weight I was just concerned how heavy it would be to lug it on/off the boat to my truck every trip. And if it were easy to position on the bracket itself. Can't find info on the actual weight. Getting up in my age, concerned if it was like, 80 lbs or 150 lbs. The latter would be a little too much for my age to come. 😊 Thanks again.
The motors are awkward to lift on and off by yourself. Always safer with two.
I have a Terrova Quest Rip Tide 72" on order for this coming season. After watching your video I am even more excited. Why a Rip Tide? Well I have a white and silver Alumacraft Competitor 185 Tiller with white Suzuki 90 and 9.9 outboards. So purely cosmetics.
I did the saltwater equivalent of the Ulterra in my Ulterra Quest video which is the Instinct. I meant to include the Riptide Terrovas too. Cosmetics are important too. Lots of Cannon downriggers are sold in the “TS” version because they are white and cosmetically pleasing. Great to hear from you Duke and enjoy the Riptide Terrova. I am super impressed with the Quest series.
Duke were you able to order built in transducers with the Riptide Terrova Quest? As far as I can see, they don’t seem to be available.
@@stevechiassonfishing5876 Back when I decided to go to this new motor I called my dealer and we discusses what I wanted and he said he'd order it. I have not called him recently. I was anticipating installing it in April.

@@stevechiassonfishing5876 When I learned the Rip Tides were not available with a transducer built in, nor do they come with a foot control, I decided aesthetics be damned and contacted my dealer. The Rip Tide was on back order so we cancelled that and ordered the fresh water Terrova Quest with the Mega MSI built in transducer and of course now the motor comes with the foot control. The motor arrived this week and my dealer was able to install it and pair it to my mini wireless remote. I picked it up yesterday and will take it out hand lining today where I hope to be able to save any successful recored I-Tracks and rerun them. I am furiously studying the wireless remote on line manuals and also trying to understand the One Boat Network. I will keep you apprised.
