  • Humminbird users who have had difficulty sharing waypoints with Lowrance, Garmin, or the Navionics App will find this video very helpful. In the past, I have tried to share waypoints with friends who have a different brand of electronics and when I do, the waypoint shows up out in the middle of nowhere. Conversely, I have had friends share a waypoint with me from the Navionics App, Garmin, or Lowrance and when attempting to load the waypoint, it does not show up on the lake that the waypoint originated. Sharing GPS coordinates, such as waypoint fishing spots, and, more importantly, mayday distress call coordinates are valuable pieces of information that need to be able to shared quickly and efficiently. This video will enable you to share your current waypoint location or fishing spots with other fellow anglers who use Humminbird, Lowrance, Garmin, or the Navionics App. It will help you understand why different forms of GPS coordinates may or may not work when sharing waypoints between the same brand or different brands of units. I have done many videos now and I am particularly proud of this video as I believe it’s going to help a lot of anglers understand how to allow units of different brands to communicate using the same language. I hope anglers will appreciate the ability to share and receive waypoints without any confusion when using your Humminbird unit. This knowledge could potentially help you in an emergency situation to save time, equipment, and speed up a rescue mission. Although I could have delivered this video in a shorter, more concise way, I felt it was important that people watching this video have a thorough understanding of how to share and receive gps coordinates. Knowing the importance of the impact of restore defaults is also a critical part of this video. The information contained in this video will enable you to use your Humminbird units to communicate waypoints with other Humminbird units, Lowrance, Garmin, and Navionics App electronics users.

Oh wow you just blew my mind and saved me a ton. My coordinates were dropping at the wrong places until this video. Huge thank you.

You’re quite welcome, I thought this video would have been more popular than it has been as I was frustrated until I figured it out. I am glad you appreciated it. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Very informative! Will the gps cordinates that where saved in the other formats be converted to the standard format?

I believe so. You can tell by looking at them in the Nav tab (menu, menu first, go to Nav tab), go to Waypoints, Routes, Tracks, you’ll see your waypoints listed.

The apostrophe as you refer to is " minutes " so you have " degrees decimal minutes " . You have to be careful, some of the charts are deg minutes seconds (older charts)and this will give you a different location when you switch.. If this is shallows marked or rock pile it could be hazardous.. Safe boating.. Cheers..

Thanks Doug, I appreciate the feedback. I identified the three position format options so that anglers/boaters will, hopefully, be comfortable navigating back and forth between the different options.

Good info Steve. I had to figure this out a while back when entering DNR structure map waypoints. You will help a lot of anglers with this.
Worst part of completing updates is going back and getting everything set back up. Lol
BTW, the new update has seemed to have stopped the screen freeze on the ICE helix 9 mega live so far. Only have 6 hrs on it but no freeze yet 🤞🏻

Thanks Cowboy Jack, I appreciate your ongoing support. It is truly appreciated. I am happy the new update is working, that’s awesome, thanks for letting me know. I am hoping that many people will appreciate this video. I spent extra time working on this one. I do plan on doing a video on what to do after restoring defaults to help simplify the process for newer Humminbird users.
