Welcome to Follow The Builds. This all started when I was 16 and got my first Mustang. It was quadruple tone color and barely running. My dad said if you want to drive this then fix it. I dug into the Mustang magazines and started building my dream ride.
After over a dozen builds it has become a passion of mine to find and put these ole Mustangs back on the streets and upgraded with a few creature comforts and subtle mods.
If you are in the learning phase of restoconversion then you are in the right place. There will be plenty of amature problems to solve, as well as some “would you look at this” moments. In this video we set out to convert a coupe to a fastback in a weekend. This was a father/son project car that I teamed up to help convert to a fastback. What a great experience! I wasn't building their dream car...WE WERE. I'm much more interested in building a dream WITH someone rather than FOR someone. I'd do it again.

Congratulations you didnt put too big ofva carb on most prople do.
you know , if you turn your gaurd on that grinder and cut with the other side of the disc . It will be a lot less likely to throw that grinder into your body if it grabs, it is also a lot easyer to control when you are holding back from pulling away on it than holding it from pushing back on you 😉
What's the quality like with the replacement panels etc?
I've always liked the looks of the coupe over the fastback. I have a modern Mustang (called a coupe but looks more fastback) that I really wish looked more like an old coupe. So I think if I had an old fastback Mustang that I was restoring, I'd want to be going the other way: fastback --> coupe.
As far as concideraby less. I laugh at that. Ive seen vehicals with no title in poor shape being sold for outrages prices . 67 chevy c20 no title. No motor no trans, no floor in bed. Seat is just the spring. Rust bucket. $8000. As soon as its ... No title. Value drops to hundred of dollars at best. And thats not even adding if its a rust bucket. As i say. Too many people thinking they can sell granmas dirty diapers for gold.
I'm actually putting a 351w/408 stroker in a 1995 Ford F150. I was just wanted to know where you purchased your mass air flow sensor and do you have a part number for that particular one. I'm actually going to have to get it programmed for 36 lb injectors and since you've already located a person that can do it I was wanting to see if I could reach out to them also.
After that two years can you apply to get a regular title?

He can cut it up because its his.he paid for it. Do what you want sir its not rare or valuable.
Wow!!! at the beginning of the Video i thought the father was an experienced mustang builder. at the end of the video found out its 3 guys just doing it just going at it, gtrdun. AMAZING, good job $10 k for the kit.....OK

11 months and no updates???
Everything about this video was great. From the story of how the car came into their lives to the father/ son project to showing a couple guys who haven't done this the ropes. It seems like everyone has fun and that's how it should be. Very cool

The music is horrendous and way to loud. Makes the video unbearable to watch unless you mute the video and put on subtitles. The entire video would of been much better simply without the music.
As a 1st Gen Camaro guy, I find it strange that Ford didn't do all mustangs as fastbacks, like Camaros only had a one coupe body.
Maybe that's why they sold millions more Mustangs than Camaro's.
This was incredible to watch, answers a lot of questions but presents even more. Hard part for me would be the cutting up and not F%^&king up.

Do people actually whine about cutting up Mustang coups? You can literally build a completely new one from parts/repro parts. Not to mention how many were made. Some people just have to complain to make them feel special I guess. Nice work.

I daily drive a survivor 1967 mustang convertible, and I'd love to have a 6 to 8 coupe to fastback conversion some day
Pretty cheap to buy a new body and makes things easier and even easier if you choose Coyote Clecos would make things much easier

Where’d you get the new motor from?
Is the idle changing when you hit the brakes? Since I was going boosted trying to see if I could run electric booster to not depending on intake manifold vacuum. Where is the link for your harness? Any link for the pedal return spring?
