It depends on your needs and budget. If you're hunting mineralised land or beaches then a multi frequency will always perform better. Otherwise the Ultra is a total coin magnet...especially on pasture.

Any pointer will pick it up. You can try adjusting the sensitivity to see if that helps.

You can save settings for each mode in one user profile. Then different settings for each mode in the second user profile and so on.

Beast mode is an extra mode, separate from the other modes. It's there for specific purposes. Obviously updating is up to you. If you're happy and want to stay, no worries. But any future updates will be based on the current software version so if you update in the future it'll be included. I haven't had any issues with the latest update...if anything the machine feels more solid and responsive.

Neither Relic nor Beast Mode penetrate the ground any deeper...they just produce better target responses at depth. Meaning something you might ignore as background noise in another mode or with another machine will now ring loud and proud as a solid target 👍

Hard to say for sure after just a couple of hunts but the sense I'm getting is that it's similar. Subject to being correctly set up, of course. Having said that, the Legend has more settings available so in certain circumstances the Legend will likely find targets the Triple wouldn't...but I'd think those occasions would be rare.

It will depend and vary greatly depending on the beach, type of sand/shingle etc., environmental conditions, tide level and so on. What works for me on one day won't work for me on another. It's best to spend time learning how each setting affects the machine's performance and practice setting it for your specific location and conditions each time you go out 😊👍

I just start close to the coil and move away steadily. If I didn't do that I'd get complaints the other way 😅 RUclips is a strange beast...

That's not true. It's legal to use them in many more countries than just 4. The restrictions may differ but most countries allow it in some fashion.

No...there are many more. Australia, Denmark, Canary Islands, Caribbean, Canada, Dominican Republic, India, Many African countries...including SA, Ireland and more. Some other countries not listed above require easy to obtain licences. There are some countries worldwide where detecting is forbidden. But there are certainly many more than 4 where it's allowed 👍

The Triple does everything the Double does in the same way. It just has a few more menu options. Get the Triple Pro Pack and only use the features you're comfortable with. Then as you learn you have those other settings available when you're ready 😊👍

I'd say it depends on the individual, their level of patience and how technology-friendly they are. For a patient newbie who's willing to put some time in, it's a great machine that will last years and years. Start with basic settings and learn more advanced features as you grow in experience. If you're only going to get out once in a blue moon, have little patience and/or low tolerance for tech, I'd suggest maybe the Score or Double Score to get started with. Hope that helps!

I haven't used the AT Max but I understand it's a single frequency machine. Multi frequency machines like the Legend should penetrate the ground deeper in most conditions compared to single frequency ones 👍

Beach mode and then keep all settings in the middle of their respective ranges (recover, iron filer etc). Discrimination custom 8 and above.

It's a great machine! All beaches are different so you may need to deviate a little. If the machine is giving you lots of chatter, drop the sensitivity a bit to compensate 👍

@@DTEKTSUSSEX yes sir that's my problem when I'm in wet sand it's a bit noisy. especially when there is a little black sand mixed with white sand. but it is good to use in the dry sand

There are plenty of downsides to the software method of changing the tiers of a machine. The most obvious and damaging one being that soon after release someone will crack the software and make it available online. I can see this happening with the new Garrett (which I assume you're alluding to) very quickly after release. It also presents additional complications. Even with the Nokta software updates, simple though they are, we get plenty of people who struggle whether through technical variations in computer set-up or simply people not following the instructions. There are other issues with that system too (not least the fact the second hand/resale market would be a NIGHTMARE!).

Hi, The SX is the prefix. It just means it works with the Simplex. Did you have a specific coil in mind?

The 24 is smaller and more tightly elliptical. You'll lose a small amount of depth but it's more precise and able to separate targets that are close together. It's also great for getting into small spaces and closer to obstacles (trees, rocks, sea defences etc.). It's great for trashy areas like parks, beaches and iron infested fields.
