Good to see inside components. Would never see this otherwise.
    Thanks Mike. 👍🏻😉

Mike can I just point something out for the ones still learning that pumps don't create pressure, restriction creates pressure. You got your words mixed up around 4.45 saying that when all the bushings and bearings are tight there is "less restriction" so there is better oil pressure. (Should read more restriction)
I don't mean to pick anyone up as I can barely string a sentence together myself, however, this is so important to the young guys trying to understand what causes pressure I didn't want young guys getting confused.

Mike you are quite right, Landrover did have a special tool, his name was Keith.

I hadn't realised how similar Rover V8 oil pumps are to those from a 2.5 (2.25).

Interesting that you feel the need to preserve orientation... Motor cycle chain drives usually use as many prime numbers as possible... so front sprocket, rear sprocket, and number of chain links are all prime... This ensures that wear is as even as possible, as mating teeth only meet up rarely.... I'm surprised the same isn't true in oil pumps... an 11 tooth and 13 tooth gearset would be pretty good...

Would a dowty seal work better?

What issue would no ball bearing cause?
    I have no ball bearing. 1989 200tdi
I've removed and dismantled the oil pump because when the engine got to temperature it would lack power as if the brakes were on and the temperature was increasing.
    Videos are very helpful. Thanks.

Surprising what can get through the mesh suction strainer Mike. Had the sump off a recently rebuilt 3.8 E Type Jag engine that had a whole lot of badly fitted big end bolt split pin ends that had worn off through the engine reciprocation, pulled through the strainer and jammed and broken the oil pump.
The mechanic that had rebuilt the engine was a bit shame faced when presented with the evidence that he'd used the wrong diameter pins and spoilt a lot of good work.

Bit of a catch 22 . If the strainer was finer mesh, the very cold oil would be difficult to get through the mesh
Magnetic sump plugs were never fitted by LR - but they did in the transfer and gearbox - I wonder why?
Maybe time to recycle old speakers and recover the old magnets and stick them near the drain bung?

@@BritannicaRestorations we've seen a few strainers on newer engines completely blocked with carbon and sludge from lack of oil changes.

I have one bar of Bourneville plain left and it keeps calling me. The plain digestives are going though.
