Very informative. The injectors look almost identical to the ones on my old Farmall 706 tractor. I like the idea of spinning the needle in the nozzle using a drill. Thanks for sharing.
As a retired employee of what was a Simms service depot full marks for getting them to work. A couple of comments, do take the pressure spring setting down to nil before trying to remove the nozzle retaining nut because if not the nozzle can turn with the nut and you can shear the two dowels off in the injector body and ruin the assembly. The full repair would be by internally recutting the nozzle seat and the needle face to different prescribed angles for which you need a bit of special equipment and you may have noticed there is an auxiliary spray from the nozzle for starting purposes, this needs unblocking in most cases which is very difficult, the needle valve freeing off has to be done carefully without the use of any abrasives as too free a fit and there would be an excess of fuel leaking back in the injector and not injected into the engine, all this can be measured on the hand tester. This nozzle was just about the most difficult and time-consuming type to refurbish to spray properly and on cost was frequently replaced with a new one. The test pump can test most types of injectors, but spray into an enclosed container for safety reasons or at least guard it, and most important keep away from any naked flame, and don't try that as it is very dangerous!
Ken have you ever refurbed the tdv8 Injectors, I had a chap take mine out to remove my inlet manifold and now they wont fire, loud rattly noise from them
@@gerrygorman273 I have no idea even what a tdv8 injector looks like ! what engine ? I may find an answer if I could see one as the earleir types all worked much the same way.could you post a photo of one ? Ken
Hola!
I never overhauled the injectors which you mentioned, so don't know about that. A injector normally doesn't create sound. Most likely the knocking noise comes from your valve clearance.

Nice , first time I have seen anyone work on injectors .
Thanks you John, good to hear!

Thanks sir 👍👍👍

Hello, open pressure is 135bar (2000psi). You can only adjust the opening pressure
Nice job I'm going to make a tester with an old jack
You can buy one from ebay or from mercedes source website
Hi is the pressure the same for bmc 1500 ? Thank you
Great vid, can the TDV8 injectors be overhauled, how to do tell if one is bad, do the knock or tick, mine are knocking on startup

Very interesting, which engines uses these injectors?
Thanks JP, Those 'C.A.V. Pintaux' injectors came out of an 2.25 litre Rover diesel engine. There quite commonly used in older diesel engines.
Did you lap both the nozzle and the injector body? How do you lap it with the alignment dowels in or did you remove them?
If you need to lap the injector body surface, you first need to remove the dowels indeed. I didn't take them out in this case. - Jan
Your spray pattern is way off, you need new injector nozzles.
Yes, the spray pattern is really bad
No good setting. Injectors falt
