Just picked up an RS5 last month instead of an E92 M3 due to unwillingness to take a risk on the S65 motor citing its bearing clearance and eccentricity issues. Coming from the N54 community and owning 3 335i, this RS5 community is unbelievably small in comparison but very close like we are all brothers. Your serious enthusiasm as an enthusiastic enthusiast (lol-read your introduction post) is a godsend to us and has arguably been a driving force in the latest push for chassis development. We are all very thankful and will continue to support you.
Michael, I was in the same boat years ago with the E92. I honestly believe the RS5 motor is a superior design and you'll enjoy it immensely. Overall the car is a bit portly but part of that is due to the AWD which gives you a tremendous advantage in the real world. There are ways to loos weight (wheels, battery, tires, brakes, exhaust, hood, seats) but it does get expensive. And I really appreciate the kind words, means a lot. When I came into this wonderful community of owners, there was very little technical information and I was as much a newbie as anyone else. So I sat down and read the factory service manual three times over and started "exploring". In terms of community size, I tend to agree although we're converging on a few central locations. The more the merrier as everyone has an experience, good or bad, we can all learn from and share. The Facebook group is now well over 1,000 owners, global, Audirevolution is gaining steam every day and it's a great group; and Audizine has a good group of owners but crappy moderators and a pension to let drama and bad actors continue without consequences. So I do post there but I don't go back as frequently any longer. The Facebook group is private so you can join and not be subject to the entire Facebook ecosystem and all it's shortcomings. But glad you found the video worth watching and I'll do more!
Just picked up My 14 RS5 and love it already but it definitely isn't, what I would call a fast car but it drives do well with the power it has. It sits in a garage with my 18 C63S Coupe. Two totally different cars but I tend to drive the Audi more. It just feels awesome just a little heavy and slow comparatively speaking. The best part is that this car will handle Colorado winters with ease. I feel in love with Audi when I picked up a 11 A4 Avant. I traded it in with nearly 200K miles and got twice what I was expecting. I like fairly stock looking cars but this Audi will become a customized mountain cruiser. This thing hugs the road so easy and the quattro is the best thing ever. The double edged sword is the NA motor which limits big power upgrades but I didn't buy it to be the baddest car on the road.
Kind of to Emmitt's final point, do you know the state of JHM's supercharger development right now? Been through the forums and saw that 1. They were developing one and 2. That you were interested, but haven't seen any updates in the last 3-4 months.

@@jasonno2953 No problem Jason! In short, the RS5 is a speed density system with a very powerful Bosch MED17.1 ECU. Any tune, even the original, is programmed with "a" maximum potential. That potential is elevated on our tune and as long as the criteria is met, inputs from various sensors, safeties, readiness, etc...the tune will give you what the car is capable of. So if you add an intake and exhaust improving volumetric efficiency, this pushes your air/fuel, timing, etc...into a new and higher performance table if that makes sense. Same as if you had a MAF and it sensed more airflow. There's no learning, it simply goes off feedback from the various sensors. If something isn't quite right, or say torque is exceeded beyond what's expected (yes, it has a prediction function!), then it can dial things back and keep everything safe. If you purchased the tune through JHM, you'll have to go through them. Tuning@jhmotorsports.com. Are you following the directions and using a battery charger? If the voltage is too low, it can cause issues up to and including bricking your ECU. You MUST use a charger. I usually hook one up an hour or so in advance. Did you have any other tunes on the car prior to going with the JHM? Can email me, sales@redmistracing.com.
It'll really depend on the overall condition of the car as well as other modifications. We're generally seeing between 45 and 64 wheel hp improvements with the tune, full exhaust and a few other small mods. But a full, cat-back exhaust, preferably the JHM due to its downpipe design and diameter, is crucial to letting the engine breathe. K&N panel filters work very well, better than the expensive aftermarket intakes that don't seal properly and let in hot engine air. Shoot me an email, sales@redmistracing.com and I can get you a quote on the tune and answer any further questions in detail.
If you're just cruising around, no, gas mileage will be the same as it's relying on the 02 sensors to hit stoich. If you're wide open throttle all the time then yes, definitely! Stage 2 completely transforms the car and you just always want to explore the midrange and upper reaches of the rpm range. So invariably, you burn more gas as you're enjoying the car more!
Depends on the car's conditions and modification level and also the products used. Generally speaking, we see between 46 and 64 wheel hp improvements with a 2.75" cat-back exhaust and K&N panel filters. The quickest RS5, naturally aspirated to date, has run an 11.68@116mph. I sell the tune, can reach out to me, sales@redmistracing.com and I can answer all your questions and more. www.redmistracing.com
I been told by many that if I get the jh full exhaust and headers and tune I won’t make 50 hp far less plan on doing eventuri intakes at somepoint as well . What are your thoughts ? Been told escpsilly the headers do nothing . No Gains . Any feed back will help thanks
Hey Austin, appreciate the questions. Whomever gave you advice on the tune and headers is seriously misinformed. Generally, most people are seeing well over 40hp at the wheels with just the tune and ANY decent cat-tack exhaust. A recent dyno, completely independent of myself or JHM, produced 64 wheel hp with no other changes and the car being flashed while it was on the dyno. My personal opinion, based on my own experience and knowledge is the JHM exhaust will most likely make more hp than any other exhaust out there due to it's downpipe flange design and 2.75" piping. With that said, most of the major exhausts from the bigger manufacturers will make power so base your choice on sound level and tone. As for the headers, there was some information that the Kline headers, which are no longer made, didn't actually produce any hp over the OE headers. Had nothing to do with JHM's headers. The JHM headers are stock headers with the catalyst sawed off and a proper collector welded in place. I've spoken to a few people about the Kline headers and there were apparently design flaws. I don't have first-hand knowledge of those flaws. Know this though...in Europe, it's very popular for R8 V8 owners to retrofit the RS5 headers with the catalyst removed. They gain 40hp just from that mod alone. The RS5 headers are actually a very good design. Removing the catalyst and welding in a proper collector should net you about 25 wheel hp over the same header with the cat still in place. Feel free to join over on audirevolution.net, tons of RS5 owners there, or on the RS5 facebook forum. Plenty of other owners can provide you first-hand experience with the tune and headers.
@@RS5Fanatic thank you so much , when I have the $$ I’m getting the full jhm kit , an headers cus it seems like they do something after all . How much you think I could make with the full exhaust and headers and eventuri intakes , I also hear these are making a stage 3 tune ?

so how much does it make on just stage 2 tune??
@@austinellsi9211 If you can, shoot me an email, redmistracingllc@icloud.com. Stage "3" will be for the supercharger kit. They just updated stage 2 and judging by the seat of my pants, it makes substantially more bottom end and midrange torque. But email me and I'll share more info/ideas with you.
Hey what year is your rs5?
B8.5, 2013.
If you dont have 93 readily available choose 91 or move to Texas 🤣🏴
I'm glad someone caught the joke! Always surprises me when I take a road trip and states don't have 93 octane. Being denied hp!
This is for the bots that keep sending me emails asking to "optimize" my website. Hey bots, how to contact me by email anonymousconsumertips@oag.texas.gov
