@@RS5Fanatic Gallup, NM. I was rolling through. It's rare to see an RS5 on the road, especially a red one like yours. Coincidently, it had Texas plates. It looked identical, with nice clean body. I guess you have a twin. I own an S4. I enjoy your videos. Thanks.
I installed mine from Ape prior to the video release and the fit is pretty factory looking. The Bluetooth tracker is great as well. I elected to install the charger in the trunk and will put a small “WARNING” tag on the positive in the engine bay explaining the new charging requirements. Great video as usual and I like the nod to the Jimmy Kimmel/Matt Damon interview bump.
Not really...I think once you remove 100 or more pounds, just out back, you may notice and need to make suspension adjustments. If you're running a properly corner-weighted setup, you'd definitely want to put the car back on the scales. I will say this...I do feel the extra weight when I throw a 50 pound bag of water softener salt in the back. While I will definitely take 45 pounds of weight reduction, especially given how easy it is to achieve that, I also see it as an integral part of a larger weight loss program. It's a slippery slope as we all know!
Don't give me that "it never gets driven" nonsense, I remember the last time it was driven like it was only yesterday. It was October 2017, the wife's Touareg had a puncture and I had a severe craving for KFC! Great video as usual, fingers crossed my battery makes it over.
Ok that gave me a good laugh. I'm coming to Dubai to do a proper photo shoot of your car though. If we work together, it'll only take us a few hours to blow all the dust off of the car.
Assume you run your car with a full tank of gas (it's in the back) at all times then? You're shedding weight but not enough to hurt the balance of the car.
Hey man, amazing car and love the videos!! I have a rs5 as well and I just wanted to ask a couple questions. It’s at 130k kms now and I did the 115k major service as well as replace all the coil packs, I’m looking to get a carbon cleaning done and a trans check up but is there anything else that I should do or check up on? Thanks
Zaeem, at that mileage, I would strongly suggest monitoring your misfires if you have a Ross Tech VCDS and see if you have a high misfire count on any of the cylinders. It would be a good time to replace the injectors if you are carbon cleaning the engine. I also replace the spark plugs every 30,000 miles (48K). When you do the transmission, do the rear differential at the same time. If you stick with Audi's maintenance intervals on the transmission and differential, you should be good. Change the oil approximately every 8,000Km and don't wait for the full 16K to change oil.
Is the lithium ion specific charger what you are installing on the front of the car? If I don’t get that part is the front of the car installation eliminated?
Adam, there's a "comfort" harness that's an option (It's like $6 and well worth it) which attaches to the factory charging points underneath the hood. The comfort harness has the plug on the other end which just makes it more convenient. However, the CTEK comes with standard alligator clips as well so you can forego the comfort harness if you want. Just reach out to me, redmistracingllc@icloud.com and I can get you a quote and save you some $$$.
I completely removed any power sources. All my settings remained although I don't listen to the radio (AM/FM) so no idea if the presets were saved. Other than that, no issues.
Depends on what battery you had in there before and what sort of condition it was in. Ideally, you'd want to use the BEM from a 95Ah AGM OEM replacement battery. If your old battery is well, old, it's best to code in a new BEM otherwise you could have voltage issues.
RS5 Fanatic I know you just got it, but I'm wondering if it will last 5-7 years like the OE Audi battery. I've NEVER had a battery last this long in a car, so wondering how the Antigravity is with longevity
The Antigravity batteries are capable of MORE discharge/recharge cycles than a lead acid/AGM battery so they should last even longer. They're also far more tolerable of vibration and are motorsports grade. The cells are deep discharge capable and aren't damaged if they go below 50% like lead acid. Plus the battery has active battery management built-in. I have a LifeP04 battery I built for a motorcycle well over 10 years ago and let it sit, uncharged for five years. Still had a charge! And still works just fine...
@@VaporEG They are seriously great batteries. All the Porsche GT3 guys run them as every pound counts. When you're ready for one, just reach out to me. More videos are on the way!

Hey, this comment it's about the Lightweight battery but I just wanna know hows the Reliability with this model yr RS5...Any major issues before I waste my time looking into one of these?
Far more reliable than it's BMW counterpart. There are good and bad examples of every make and model but generally speaking, a car that's been maintained and has a good service history should be reliable. I've had exactly one fault with mine in almost 70K miles.
I just clocked 105,000 miles and have had zero mechanical problems. I have had to change my rotors twice but audi paid for that 60k miles ago. I drive the car hard daily and put a stage 2 jhm tune on at 89k miles and the car still performed amazing. All I do is change the oil every 4k miles with amsoil 5w40 and the dsg fluid every 20k miles along with other fluids when or before there due. Love my RS5 and it's reliability. Great car for daily driving!
Nice setup. AGM requires 14.7v to fully charge, which OEM charging systems won’t do. They usually max at 13.8v continuous, with maybe a 14.2v peak. Thus, it’ll never be fully charged. You need an AGM charger to top off or a DC to DC charger on board to fully charge an AGM battery. Most people won’t do that, but should.
This isn't an AGM battery, it's a lithium ion battery and has different charing requirements from AGM. And the stock system on the RS5 can throw out more than 15V. I've logged it. Uses a regenerative braking system, fast charging by turning on the alternator during deceleration and uses a higher voltage when an AGM battery is coded in (vs. a standard flooded, lead acid cell). By unplugging the BMS, you can get a more constant, steady charge of between 13.9 and 14.4v which works well with LifeP04 cells.
Best narrated and detailed instruction for RS5 owners!
