Love the video, and the RS5. You wouldn’t grease the replacement ball joints in the control arms at all? I am replacing mine currently, and assumed packing it with some grease from Liquimoly would be fine. What would you recommend?
I haven't had the "pleasure" of replacing the ball joints but I'd imagine they're sealed and probably good for the life of the ball joint. The only indicator they need to be lubed would be if there's a zerk fitting.
@@RS5Fanatic gotcha, yeah I think you’re on to something with the fitting. I’ll replace the ball joints without greasing them and see how they hold up to a PA winter. If they need replacement next year again I guess it is what it is.
LOL, James you crack me up. Bots. I don't understand the point of them...Anyway. It's a bit more difficult to take the entire assembly out as you'll obviously remove the top four bolts holding the upper mount to the shock tower but you also need to separate the ball joint and the bottom damper bracket so you end up replacing more bolts in the process. It was easy enough to just measure the shock collar and lower the spring a bit. But the last time I changed the one bushing on the right side, I removed the entire assembly to also replace the top hats.
Actually went out on a "fun" drive with the local Audi group yesterday and had a chance to hit the twisties. Holding up great, no noise, steering is definitely sharper. I wouldn't hesitate to try them.
My car right front lower control arm bushing is dead. Now the repair shop quote me for 850$ plus tax and 7 hours labor to replace all the front control arms the 034 set. Right now the car is at 105000km, should I just replace the bushings or the complete set?
Hi Yang, I'd likely just go with the replacement control arms from 034 instead of just the bushings. You can't purchase the 034 bushings separately and honestly, it's just easier to swap in a new arm as opposed to pushing the old bushing out and inserting the new. Takes less time and less $$$$ out of your pocket for labor costs.
It's JHM's full 2.75" cat-back system. www.jhmotorsports.com. It's a valved stainless system so you're able to close the valve and run a quieter setup or open the valves to have a louder setup. Power wise, it's probably the best on the market.
There's a squeaky noise coming from the right rear side of my car. What you mention might be it cause the previous owner said they only took things out of the car to check and try to find it. I'll look into replacing those later. Are you going with 034 Motorsports?
Nathan, as discussed, check the trunk bump stops along with the rear bumper. Two known issues. The rear bumper has pieces of felt between it and the foam and if they fall off or weren't installed correctly, they can rub and squeak.
I was going through upper control arm bushings like every 30K miles. I have CCB front rotors so pads typically last for 60-70 K miles and half that on the rear with aftermarket pads and rotors.

That pinch bolt, in the UK, not a chance in removing it. Corrosive rock salt on the roads every winter along with constant rain.
LOL, penetrating fluid and heat! This is why I live in a (normally) snow-free zone.

@@RS5Fanatic yeah i've gone as far as having one of the rear bumper 10mm nuts back off and that was causing the squeaking

Those are Stern aftermarket adjustable control arms, not the OEM control arms! I wish they came from the factory like that.
