    I’d pick the RS5 B8.5 because I’ve owned one since 2018. This is my keeper car and agree 100% with all you said in the review. This for sure is a future ‘CLASSIC’.

    • @speedshed
      @speedshed Год назад

      @@JamilioQ check discs, pads and tyres all round because they are expensive. You want a comprehensive service history. Depending on age/mileage look for evidence of rear and front final drive oil service, s-tropic oil change. Has it got DRC? If so pay particular attention to this, you want no weeping or issues as DRC service or replacement parts is not cheap. Is it pre facelift? If so be aware they had mechatrinics issues. Apart from that get a good one and enjoy.

    I agree this is the last Audi with soul... I have a customized 2014 B8.5 with a bunch of upgrades. Myself and my wife love this car and agreed its a keeper for life. We have test drove the new B9 and even though we agreed it was probably a little faster than the B8 it will never replace the emotion and happiness you get from the sound and performance of that high revving V8 engine. It puts a smile on our face every time we take it out!!

    I really want one but I am confused is the B8.5 worth the premium over the B8? Note that my budget is for the most part a bit low for a B8.5. Does the B8.5 have any significant mechanical upgrades that makes it just that much better? Also what is the best possible Exahust for it? I want it to sound like an F1 car

    • @ThreePedalGarage
      @ThreePedalGarage  Год назад

      In the US we only got the B8.5 RS5. So your only have one option there. If you comparing that to the B8 s5 the major difference is styling and the headlights/taillights are different. The b8.5 V8 in the RS5 has more upgrades than the B8 S5 but they are based on the same engine. The good part about the B8 S5 you can get a manual while you cannot get a manual in the B8.5 RS5. Not sure what the best exhaust would be but I’d look for an exhaust that has a cross over pipe in it. They always help V8 sound pretty good!

    I have a 2010 Nissan 370Z (350HP manual), 2011 VE Holden Commodore V8 Ute (360HP manual - truck to all those stateside) and a 2011 V8 RS5 (450HP 7 speed auto). All under 60K miles. The Z is a raw sports car, low and noisy (mine is) and as soon as you sit in the drivers seat it screams "drive me faster" right up until you turn the engine off. A perfect affordable all-out track car or daily and occasional track car. The Commodore is a modified ridiculously low and stupidly powerful truck that loves effortlessly cruising and carry heavy loads or towing to a glorious V8 soundtrack - preferably in a straight line. The RS5 on the other hand is well behaved, safe & sturdy yet soft, comfortable & luxurious, quiet and refined. Until you floor it, then it becomes what should be an illegal rocket-ship of effortless high performance and never ending acceleration. They are all great in their own way, but if I had to keep only one, the RS5 wins hands down. The safety, luxury and silly power from the Audi is superb value for money, but the icing on the cake is that adjustable electronic suspension and that sweet sweet V8 matched with that perfectly tuned variable exhaust. Plus stock standard 20 inch rims, 265's all round, Quattro all wheel drive, rear auto wing and nearly 4 seats! This car needs ZERO upgrades or mods, which is a downside for modders, but for everyone else is a win. And it's a (almost) sleeper, stock standard so has cheap insurance compared to anything modified, LOOKS FANTASTIC, plus has excellent re-sale value - whats not to love :)

    I just have to ask this question, because it HAS been a huge issue ( and sometimes unknown for people new to AUDI ) on early 4.2 V8 engines. Does this era of AUDI still have the Timing Chain / Plastic Chain guide issue where they slowly fall apart and that "death rattle" occurs, and then you're out $6000 in parts & labor to remove the engine? I want to buy an RS5, but not if that is still an issue.

    • @ThreePedalGarage

      So from what I have heard the b7 RS4 is where the timing chain issues are most common. The RS5 4.2 v8 has updated guides which has dramatically helped with reliability. It’s still possible to have the issue but I have heard they hold together way better

    Everything you stated about performance mod hp gains on the B8.5 RS5 is incorrect. A stage 1 ecu tune from JHM gives 24whp on a dyno. The stage 2 ecu/tcu tune bumps it up to 45 to 50whp. Tho you have to drop the engine, headers easily adds 20whp. Unsure how much my Capristo exhaust adds over stock. I've owned this car for 5yrs. Check out Red Mist Racing and he literally shows you guys dyno results post tune. After tune the car runs high 11s in the qtr and high 3s in 0 to 60mph. I dont feel dropping tons of money on a supercharger is worth it unless your chasing #s. You def have to be on top of carbon cleaning if you own this car as it will rob you of hp. The Eventuri intake actually loses 3whp compared to stock air box/K&N filter. The B9 has an amazing interior but that V6 sounds so bad compared to the V8.

    I don't know if it's insane or genius that they didn't offer a manual in the the B8.5. That's one leg up the B8 has. The only thing that's been holding me back from buying a 2015 is the lack of manual...literally the only thing. If it had that then it would be damn near the perfect car. I'm also looking at this as an investment. Stick shifts and v8's are going to demand a premium in the coming years.

      lol that’s 1,000% not true. v8 and V10 are completely different engines. The v8 is the 4.2 v8 which has been found in many RS6, RS4 the v8 R8 and then the RS5. All similar engines just different cams and a few tweaks to make it more reliable over the years. The V10 is completely different.

I never really hear people making videos about how unreliable they are, the problems each version of the A5 , S5 and rs5 have. Everyone tells me to stick with a Japanese car like honda or toyota butbim tired of those. I test drove the A5 paddle shift, a A5 turbo stick shift and an s5. But afteranother video i saw looks like its making me not get an audi

    • @ThreePedalGarage
      @ThreePedalGarage  11 месяцев назад +1

      So yes European cars will be more expensive to maintain then a Japanese car. They are built to be maintained and as long as you keep up with the maintenance you will be fine with the car. It will cost more in the end but I do think European cars are nicer looking and the quality is better.
