    This is a fantastic video. Thank you so much!
    My SR8001 receiver has been collecting dust for many years due to the POW5 error (won't start up). I did lots of research and wanted to fix it, but I was afraid of dissembling the receiver. Now I learned how to do that after watching your video. I will give it a try.

    • @roidroid
      @roidroid 2 года назад +3

      I have same issue 🙁 (POW5). So far I have tried resoldering most solder joints on the the amp board, and (as *this* video suggests) resoldering the standby power board. Still have POW5 error though.
      There's so many capacitors inside, I thought surely I'd find some bulged caps but so far all the caps seem fine 🤷.
      If I find a fix I'll post it here. Please post your results here too, ok?

      @@roidroid sure, I will share my findings. In fact, several months ago, I replaced two 5v regulators (KIA 378 RO5P), and it immediately worked for two months. Then the POW5 error came back again. I guess the regulators problem is just a result, but not the root cause. I will dissemble the whole receiver and dig further. Will post my findings here.

      @@guangfalu1684 Maybe those regulators need just small radiators? If there was some big error then those regulators would fail in two hours, not two months powered all the time.

    Thank you so much!!!. I was about to throw my sr7500 away when I fortunately came across your comment about the standby PCB. I heated that PCB with a hair dryer, and it woke up! :) (It was entering standby mode on power on, and also showing a "check pow5" error from time to time.)

    Bit surprised there is no active cooling, that would explain why a lot of components are a bit fried... Great stuff.

      If they had active cooling, they could put a filter on the fan inlet and eliminate the dust problem. Oh well.

    Hi, just been looking for some info on SR7500 and came across you territorial on this device, I’d like to try and use it as a power-amp as my power amp stopped working, I at the moment I cannot afford to have it fitted, I have a NAD 314 preamp. Which I would like to plug it in to the back of the SR 7500 , After all that my question is where would you recommend plugging into in what channel I want to use the NAD as obviously the premium so I can change between CD tape record phono et cetera, And I’ve just opened the lid up like you have done must be at least two or three mil thick of dust inside it I’m hoping the thing is okay if you can just advise me please about whether to plug in the preamp.
    Phil from the moulin. Sorry I forgot to mention I living in France and have problems communicating with people in the shops regarding repairs and stuff like that.

    • @boredtech
      @boredtech  2 года назад +1

      I used my Marantz SR7500 as an amplifier (selecting the 7.1 input mode). It worked fine, the only problem was the volume control, as I had to adjust the volume on my AV7705 and on SR7500, that was a bit annoying as my remote control was messing with the volume of both units at the same time. But if you will use NAD as the preamp it shouldn't be a problem.

      @@boredtech Hi 👋, I have not tried the remote yet needs new Batteries, Since I have sent you a message I have wide the NAD into it and it seems to work fine apart from it does get quite hot so I’ve got a small cooling fan sitting on the top suck in the air out now seems to run a lot better.
      I did however open it up and I was surprised about the amount of dust that was inside it it must’ve been nearly 3 to 4 mil thick so I got my trusty air compressor and blew all the muck out of it I can’t believe how much was in there, I think it was a good job I did it otherwise I believe that could’ve caught on fire, I have been looking at Roksan K3 and NAD C298, Hopefully Santa will drop one of these down the chimney at Christmas to time for me, thank you for your reply and hope. Do you think this amplifier will still work with only analog in and speaker out boards and everything else is removed? I already have one 7500 but want to use two 7500's to make a 7 zone multiroom amplifier in 1 casing. I want to remove all other components as all I need is analog in and speaker out.

    • @boredtech

      I had similar thoughts. But it won’t work without main cpu which controls boot up sequence. I believe that you can find off the shelve controller PCB and program it. But do you really want to invest so much effort?

Plus the postage back and forth. I'm amazed people seem to be so stuck with the official service solution.
