    My foam was also damaged exactly like that, but only worse on arrival from Bestbuy. But, thankfully it's worked w no problems for the past couple year.
    However, I do find I had to turn the volume up after 1 yr 1/2 to achieve the same volume levels.
    I purchased other amps to remove the load from this amp.
    I think it won't last many years of heavy use in 7 channels driven mode. Just my opinion from my 2 years of use.

    I love my Marantz 8077 . I do wish it was a little quieter, but am more than pleased with it overall performance over my Emotiva xpa 5. I do wish they had better quality control and don't understand why they don't paint the whole inside of their covers.
    It's the same way with my Marantz 8801,8802a and 7705. Penny saved I guess?

I don’t understand what is the problem cause but channel 6 when connected to a speaker does not work and trips everything out. It was working ok and the speaker works fine. I had the Kef R300 speaker Bi amped from the adjacent amp channel.. the problem channel is totally dead. Swapping inputs etc still dead. Looks like an expensive repair.. any advice please ..

      Thank you for your question. I haven't got to take a close look at Emotiva amps.
      Regarding the Marantz, I wouldn't use MM7055. I saw pictures of it's insides and they doesn't look very promising. If you specifically like Marantz, better go for seven channel MM8077. You can use those two extra channels to Bi-Amp your front speakers.

    Hello thanks for a great video. I currently have this amp using in the USA on 110v 60hz and will be going back to the Philippines that use a single line 230v 60hz and not possible to get 110v from such system without a step down transformer. Is it possible to convert it to 220-230v? Is so what's involved ?

    • @boredtech
      @boredtech  2 года назад +1

      Oh dear...
      You will definitely need to replace the toroidal transformer and possibly the "stand-by PCB".
      Probably it would be easier to sell your 110V version and buy 230v version.
      Really hope that you will sort this out. Or It's a good excuse to upgrade for a better amplifier :-)

    That seems to be a refurbished unit sold as new. I'm not surprised that Marantz cut corners in order to save any penny at the detriment of the consumer. These units are sold at premium price and funny enough, the MM8077 got 20% price hike since Masimo acquired Sound United. They are after the money to pay back that $1B purchase...

    Broken Styrofoam indicates that somebody already opened this product. They grabbed and pulled the Styrofoam from the inside which puts too much stress in the wrong place thus ripping it... Shipping stresses cannot break Styrofoam in this way because the possible outside forces cannot apply enough force to rip the Styrofoam in this way. (Especially if the box isn't overly dented) It was done by a person pulling it out of the box in the wrong way... This product is probably a return or a store model.... Look closely at the tape on the top and bottom of the box. Does it appear reapplied or replaced? Maybe even doubled up... Also you can tell by the stiffness of the 2 side flaps of the box while opening. If stiff its never been open, if loose it's been opened.

    • @boredtech
      @boredtech  2 года назад +1

      I don't have the box anymore, but I definitely remember that styrofoam looked compressed by the impact. That mark was located at the same corner where the transformer is.

    The speaker terminals are the same as in Denon pma 720ae. Made in Japan is better than made in China, but made in Vietnam is problem to me. That s the reason why i will not buy the new Marantz model 50 stereo amplifier. They stop using the ELNA and Nichicon capacitors and Bando transformers. Now they are using su scon capacitors and no name transformers.
